Exempting Crown Lands from certain Provisions of the Mining Act, 1926.

BLEDISLOE, Governor-General.

WHEREAS by section twenty of the Mining Act, 1926, it is, inter alia, enacted that the Governor-General may from time to time, by notice in the Gazette, exempt any Crown lands from mining, or from any specified mining purpose, or from that Act, or any specified provisions of that Act; and that the lands to which any such notice relates shall be specified therein by words of particular description: And whereas it is desirable that the Crown land specified in the Second Schedule hereto, shall, subject to all existing registered mining privileges, be exempted from the provisions of the Mining Act, 1926, and its amendments, set out in the First Schedule hereto:

Now, therefore, I, Charles, Baron Bledisloe, Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by section twenty of the Mining Act, 1926, and of all other powers and authorities in anywise enabling me in that behalf, do hereby exempt the land particularly described in the Second Schedule hereto from the provisions of those sections of the Mining Act, 1926, mentioned in the First Schedule hereto, subject to all existing registered mining privileges; and do also hereby declare that such exemption shall take effect from the date of the publication of this notice in the Gazette.

FIRST SCHEDULE.

The Mining Act, 1926.—Sections 70, 77, 81, 87, 89, 100, 106, 129, 144, 154.

SECOND SCHEDULE.

ALL that area in the Otago Land District bounded by a line commencing at a point on the left bank of the Manuherikia River in line with the north-eastern boundary of Run 244B; thence to and along that boundary for a distance of 160 chains; thence south-westerly through Runs 244B and 244C to the north-eastern corner of Run 244D; thence along the eastern boundary of Run 244D to its south-eastern corner; thence along a right line to the north-eastern corner of Run 244H; thence along the south-eastern boundaries of Runs 244H and 244J to the south-eastern corner of the last-mentioned run; thence along the south-western boundary of Run 244J to the north-eastern corner of Run 220B; thence along the south-eastern and south-western boundaries of Run 220B to the left bank of the Manuherikia River; thence north-easterly along the left bank of the Manuherikia River to the bridge at Ophir; thence north-easterly along a line parallel to the Main Road and 5 chains distant in a south-easterly direction therefrom to the Manuherikia River; thence along the left bank of the river to the place of commencement. As the same is more particularly delineated on the plan numbered 6/68, and deposited in the Head Office of the Mines Department at Wellington, and thereon coloured red.

Notice bringing a Native Reserve within the Operation of the Mining Act, 1926.

BLEDISLOE, Governor-General.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred on me by section twenty-five of the Mining Act, 1926, and of every other power and authority in this behalf enabling, I, Charles, Baron Bledisloe, Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby declare that the land described in the Schedule hereto shall be brought within the operation of the Mining Act, 1926; and do hereby further declare that this notice shall take effect as from the date of the publication hereof in the New Zealand Gazette.

SCHEDULE.

ALL that area (Native Reserve) in the Karamea Mining District containing 150 acres, being Section 192, Takaka District, Block I, Waitapu Survey District, excepting thereout an area of 2 acres 3 roods 28 perches taken for a road.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, this 19th day of December, 1932.

Officer authorized to take and receive Statutory Declarations.

PURSUANT to the authority conferred upon me by the three-hundred-and-first section of the Justices of the Peace Act, 1927, I, Charles, Baron Bledisloe, the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby notify and declare that Kenneth John Caverhill, being an officer in the service of the Crown holding the office of District Public Trustee at Masterton, is authorized to take and receive statutory declarations under the three-hundred-and-first section of the Justices of the Peace Act, 1927.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General, this 21st day of December, 1932.

IN pursuance of the powers conferred upon me by section six of the Animals Protection and Game Act, 1921–22 (hereinafter referred to as the “said Act”), I, Charles, Baron Bledisloe, Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby notify and declare the area described in the Schedule hereto to be a sanctuary for the purposes of the said Act.
