SOUTH PACIFIC.—FIJI ISLANDS.
Viti Levu and Ovalau.—Amendments to Charts.—
(1) BEACONS and cautionary note to be inserted on charts:—
(a) Position: 3·15 miles 338° from Tumuna 1,735 foot (528ᵐ 8) summit.
Lat. 17° 36′ S., long. 178° 46′ E. (approx.).
(b) Position: 1·75 miles 020° from Tumuna 1,735 foot (528ᵐ 8) summit.
Description: (a) and (b). The symbol for a beacon, marked “B”.
(c) The following caution is to be inserted under the titles of the charts:—
CAUTION.—“Beacons are not to be relied upon (1932).”
Note.—On certain copies of chart No. 905, a beacon is already shown in position (1) (a) above. The track shown between a position about half a mile northward of Nymphe Shoal and Levuka on chart No. 905 is to be expunged.
(2) Beacon to be inserted:—
Position: On the north-eastern extremity of the reef off Tanavuso Point. Lat. 17° 34′ S., long. 178° 29′ E. (approx.).
(3) Notes to be inserted:—
(a) Position: 7·5 miles 091° from Tova Peak.
Lat. 17° 35′ S., long. 178° 36′ E. (approx.).
Details: A small danger circle, marked “Discd. water Repd. (1932),” is to be inserted.
(b) Position: Northward of Ba roads and close southward of the track shown.
Lat. 17° 24′ S., long. 177° 41′ E. (approx.).
Details: The note “Shoaling repd. (1932)” is to be inserted. Vessels are cautioned to keep to the northward.
(4) The following amendment to Pacific Islands Pilot, Vol. II, 1932, page 314, after line 23, is to be inserted:—
“In 1932, H.M.S. Laburnum steered 058° for 12 cables from a position about 6 cables south-eastward of the south-eastern beacon on the southern edge of Nai Ngani reef, thence she steered 090° to a position about one mile westward of the beacon marking the eastern end of a reef, situated about 4½ miles eastward of Nai Ngani. She then altered course to bring the north-eastern extreme of Ovalau to bear 115° and steered for it on that bearing until close north-westward of the beacon marking the 1½ fathom (2ᵐ 3) patch close off the north extreme of Ovalau. She then passed close northward of this beacon and proceeded south-eastward to abreast Underwood Tower, keeping from about 3 to 4 cables off shore. From Underwood Tower she proceeded southward in mid channel, between the eastern side of Ovalau and the off-lying reefs, to the anchorage at Levuka. This route should only be used by vessels with local knowledge.”

ARGENTINA.—MAGELLAN STRAIT.
Direction Hill.—Alteration in Light.
Position: On Direction Hill, lat. 52° 22′ S., long. 69° 30′ W. (approx.).
Abridged description: Fl. ev. 4 sec., 210 ft. 14 M. (U).
Alteration: The period has been altered from every ten seconds to every four seconds. The visibility is to be amended from 15 to 14 miles.

COMMONWEALTH OF AUSTRALIA.—LIGHTHOUSE SERVICE.
NOTICE TO MARINERS.
1932.—No. 8.
AUSTRALIA.—EAST COAST.—PORT CURTIS.
Gatcombe Head.—Intended Alteration in Light.
MARINERS and others are hereby notified that a red sector will be introduced into the group flashing white light (U) at Gatcombe Head on or about 25th February, 1933.
Position: On Gatcombe Head. Lat. 23° 53′ S., long. 161° 23′ E., on chart No. 1900.
Alterations: A red sector will be introduced visible from 297° to 322°, through which are the light at present is obscured.
Note: In other respects the light will remain unaltered. No further notice will be given.
Charts affected: Admiralty Chart No. 1900.—Port Curtis. Admiralty Chart No. 345.—Sandy Cape to Keppel Isles.

AUSTRALIA.—TORRES STRAIT.—PRINCE OF WALES CHANNEL.
Hammond Rock.—Intended Alteration in Light.
MARINERS and others are hereby notified that the group flashing light with white and red sectors (U) on Hammond Rock will be altered on or about 14th February, 1933.
Position: On summit of Hammond Rock. Lat. 10° 31′ S., long. 142° 13′ E., on chart No. 691.
Alteration: Character.—The group flashing light with white and red sectors showing four flashes every 20 seconds will be replaced by one showing two flashes every six seconds, thus:—

0·3 sec. 1·0 sec. 0·3 sec. 4·4 sec.
Note: In other respects the light will remain unaltered.
Remarks: No further notice will be given.

AUSTRALIA.—WEST COAST.—ROTTNEST ISLAND.
Roe Reef.—Buoy to be discontinued.
MARINERS and others are hereby notified that the red perch buoy with staff and cage, moored off Roe Reef, will be removed on or about 5th April, 1933, and will not be replaced.
Position: One cable northward of Roe Reef. Lat. 31° 58′ S., long. 115° 32′ E., on chart No. 1058.
Note: No further notice will be given.
