  1. By deleting in subclause (1) of clause 27 the words “practising schools,” and substituting the words “normal school.”

  2. By deleting paragraph (e) of subclause (1) of clause 29, and substituting the following paragraph:—

“ (e) If it should become known to the Board that the student does not intend to render teaching service at the completion of his period of training.”

  1. By substituting in clause 32 the word “eighty” for the word “sixty.”

MANUAL AND TECHNICAL INSTRUCTION.

II. THE regulations relating to manual and technical instruction made by Orders in Council as shown in the Schedule hereunder are hereby amended as follows:—

(1) By deleting in clause 57, subclause (i), and substituting the following:—

“ (i) (a) The allowance payable to a full-time student teacher in a technical school shall be at the rate of £20 per annum, provided that in the case of a student teacher appointed for a third year in accordance with clause 55 of the principal regulations the allowance payable shall be at the rate of £30 per annum.

“ (b) A student teacher who shows to the satisfaction of the Director that he is obliged to live away from home or his usual place of residence shall be paid a boarding allowance at the rate not exceeding £40 a year, which shall be refunded to the Public Account when and as the Minister may require:

“ Provided that in the case of a teacher who subsequent to the completion of his student teachership secures a position in a public school, a technical school, or a combined school, the refund shall be met by such monthly deductions from his salary as the Minister may decide.

“ (c) Every such student teacher, together with his parent or guardian, shall jointly and severally enter into a bond with His Majesty the King, in such form as the Minister may approve, to pay into the Public Account, when and so required by the Minister, such sum or sums as have been advanced or paid to the student by way of boarding allowance.”
