NOTICE has been received under the hand of the Returning Officer for the purposes of the first election of members of the Pirongia Rabbit Board established under the Rabbit Nuisance Act, 1928, that

Frederick Potts, and
Charles Whitton
have been duly elected as members of the said Board.

Notice under the Mining Act, 1926.—Mining Privilege held on behalf of His Majesty the King surrendered.
WHEREAS the mining privilege described in the Schedule hereto is no longer required by the Crown, and whereas it is deemed expedient to surrender such mining privilege, notice is therefore hereby given in pursuance of section 97 (4) of the Mining Act, 1926, that the said mining privilege is surrendered as from the date hereof.

Date of Election of Insurance Members of the Mount Albert Fire Board.

PURSUANT to section 24 of the Fire Brigades Act, 1926, I, Adam Hamilton, Minister of Internal Affairs, charged with the administration of the said Act, do hereby appoint Monday, the 19th September, 1932, to be the day for the holding of an election of two members of the Mount Albert Fire Board by fire-insurance companies which for the time being are carrying on business within the Mount Albert Fire District.

Notice under the Shops and Offices Act, 1921–22, and its Amendment, fixing the Closing-hours of (1) Men’s Hairdressers’ and (2) Tobacconists’ Shops within the Borough of Napier.
WHEREAS a requisition in writing has been forwarded to me from the occupiers of shops in each of the trades of (1) men’s hairdresser and (2) tobacconist within the Borough of Napier, pursuant to section 32 of the Shops and Offices Act, 1921–22:
Now, therefore, in pursuance of the said section 32, I, Adam Hamilton, Minister of Labour, do hereby direct that on and after the 12th day of September, 1932, all the said shops within the said borough shall be closed in the evening of working-days as follows: On Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays at 6 p.m., on Fridays at 8 p.m., and on Saturdays at 9 p.m., with the following exceptions: (1) Should the occupier of any shop affected by this notice observe pursuant to section 14 (2) of the Shops and Offices Act, 1921–22, Saturday as the statutory closing-day, then and in such case the closing-hour on Thursday for such shop shall be 9 p.m.; (2) on the working-day immediately preceding “Peoples’ Day” of the Hawke’s Bay Agricultural Show, on the working-days in the period from 20th December to 31st December in each year, both days inclusive, and on the working-day immediately preceding each of the special days mentioned in or coming within the meaning of section 26 of the Shops and Offices Act, 1921–22, there shall be no fixed closing-hour:
The notice dated the 25th June, 1919, and published in the New Zealand Gazette of the 26th June, 1919, fixing the closing-hours of hairdressers’ and tobacconists’ shops in the Borough of Napier, and the notice dated the 28th March, 1928, and published in the New Zealand Gazette of the 29th March, 1928, fixing the closing-hours of tobacconists’ shops in the Borough of Napier shall be and are hereby cancelled as from the date of the coming into operation of this notice.
And whereas the said requisition is signed by not less than two-thirds of the occupiers of tobacconists’ shops within the said borough, notice is hereby given that, pursuant to section 25 of the Shops and Offices Amendment Act, 1927, all other shops within the said borough in which smoking requisites are sold shall be closed at the same hours as are set out herein for tobacconists’ shops.

Prohibition of Issue of Money-orders and Transmission of Postal Correspondence in New Zealand for Golden Lining Competition Office, Brisbane.
THE Postmaster-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, having reasonable ground for supposing that the organization whose name and address are shown in the Schedule hereunder is engaged in promoting or carrying out a lottery or scheme of chance, it is hereby ordered, under section 32 of the Post and Telegraph Act, 1928, that no money-order in favour of the said organization shall be issued, and that no postal packet addressed to the said organization (either by its own or any fictitious or assumed name), or addressed to the address in the Schedule hereunder without a name, shall be either registered or forwarded by the Post Office of New Zealand.

Te Makarini Scholarships tenable at Te Aute College, Hawke’s Bay.
TWO scholarships of the yearly value of £35, tenable for two years, are offered for competition in the year 1932. One of these scholarships, to be called the Senior Makarini Scholarship, is open to all Maori boys under sixteen years of age at the end of the month next preceding the month of the examination. The other scholarship, to be called the Junior Makarini Scholarship, is open to Maori boys who have been in regular attendance at Native Village Schools and are under fourteen years of age at the end of the month preceding the month of the examination. The scholarships are open to Maori boys on the conditions set forth in the regulations of the Trustees of the Te Makarini Scholarships Fund, as printed in the Appendix to the Regulations relating to Native Schools, except that for the Junior Scholarship the age-limit is now fourteen years and the standard required is that of the Synchronous Proficiency Examination and that for the senior examination the standard required is
