Prohibition of Issue of Money-orders and Transmission of Postal Correspondence in New Zealand in connection with New South Wales Community Hospital Art Union.

THE Postmaster-General of the Dominion of New Zealand having reasonable ground for supposing that the person whose name and addresses are shown in the Schedule hereunder is engaged in promoting or carrying out a lottery or scheme of chance, it is hereby ordered, under section 32 of the Post and Telegraph Act, 1928, that no money-order in favour of the said person shall be issued, and that no postal packet addressed to the said person (either by his own or any fictitious or assumed name), or addressed to either of the addresses in the Schedule hereunder without a name, shall be either registered or forwarded by the Post Office of New Zealand.

Notice under the Shops and Offices Act, 1921-22, and its Amendment, fixing the Closing-hours of Chemists' Shops within the Borough of Hamilton.

WHEREAS a requisition in writing, signed by a majority of the occupiers of all the chemists' shops within the Borough of Hamilton, has been forwarded to me desiring that all such shops within the borough be closed in the evenings of working-days as follows: On Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays at 5.30 p.m.; on Fridays, at 9 p.m.; and on Sundays, except during the time from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m.—with the following exceptions: (1) On the working-day immediately preceding Good Friday and on the working-day immediately preceding Anniversary Day, Anzac Day, or the King's Birthday, when any such day falls on a Friday, the hour of closing shall be 9 p.m.; (2) on the working-day immediately preceding Christmas Day and on the working-day immediately preceding New Year's Day the closing-hour shall be 10 p.m.; and (3) on New Year's Day, 2nd January, Good Friday, Easter Monday, Anzac Day, the King's Birthday, Labour Day, Christmas Day, and Boxing Day the closing-hour shall be 8 p.m. ;

And whereas, I, Adam Hamilton, Minister of Labour, am satisfied that the signatures to such requisition represent a majority of the occupiers of all the said shops within the said borough :

Now, therefore, in pursuance of section 32 of the Shops and Offices Act, 1921-22, I do hereby direct that on and after the 8th day of August, 1932, all the chemists' shops within the Borough of Hamilton shall be closed accordingly.

The notice dated the 25th August, 1914, and published in the New Zealand Gazette of the 27th August, 1914, fixing the closing-hours of chemists' shops in the Borough of Hamilton is hereby cancelled as from the date of the coming into operation of this notice.

NOTES.—(1) Pursuant to section 21 (e) of the Shops and Offices Act, 1921-22, a chemist may keep his shop open (but only for the supply of medicines and surgical appliances) between the hours of 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. on the statutory closing-day; (2) pursuant to section 35 (4) of the same Act, a chemist may supply medicines and surgical appliances that are urgently required on Sundays and on working-days outside the hours specified above, provided that the shop is opened for such purpose only and is closed immediately the sale is effected, and that the door of the shop is kept locked, except for the admission and exit of the customer.

The Industrial Conciliation and Arbitration Amendment Act, 1932.—Notice of Cancellation of Award.

In the matter of the Industrial Conciliation and Arbitration Act, 1925, and its amendments, and in the matter of an industrial dispute between William Tunley, Molesworth Street, Wellington, Master Butcher, of the one part, and the Wellington Operative Butchers Industrial Union of Workers and others, of the other part.

WHEREAS the Conciliation Commissioner, by notice under his hand dated the 27th day of July, 1932, has notified the Clerk of Awards that a settlement of the above-mentioned dispute has not been arrived at by the Council of Conciliation appointed for the hearing thereof:

Notice is hereby given that, in accordance with section 7 (4) of the Industrial Conciliation and Arbitration Amendment Act, 1932, the Wellington Industrial District Butchers' Award, dated the 14th October, 1929, and published in Book of Awards, Volume XXIX, page 801, is deemed to be cancelled, and ceases to be in force on the expiration of one month from the date of the Commissioner's notification to the Clerk of Awards as aforesaid.

Sale of Unclaimed Bicycles.

IT is hereby notified that a number of unclaimed bicycles in the hands of the Police at Christchurch Police-station will, if not claimed before Wednesday, the 17th August, 1932, be sold thereafter by public auction.

Particulars as to the time and place of sale may be obtained from the Superintendent of Police at Christchurch.
