Commissioner of the Supreme Court appointed.

GEORGE HAROLD BUSH, Esquire, of 117 Pall Mall,
Bendigo, Victoria, a Solicitor of the Supreme Court of
the State of Victoria, has this day been appointed by the
Right Honourable Sir Michael Myers, P.C., K.C.M.G., Chief
Justice of New Zealand, a Commissioner of the Supreme
Court of New Zealand in the State of Victoria, under the
47th section of the Judicature Act, 1908, for the purpose of
administering and taking all such oaths, affidavits, and
affirmations as in the said section mentioned.

Approving of Testing Officers under the Motor-drivers
Regulations, 1931.

IN terms of Regulation 5 of the Motor-drivers Regulations,
1931, I, Ethelbert Alfred Ransom, Acting Minister of
Transport, do hereby approve, until further notice, of the
persons named in Column 2 of the Schedule hereunder being
Testing Officers under the said regulations for the local
authorities described in Column 1 of the said Schedule.

Rangitaiki Land Drainage.—Notice of Intention to make and
levy Rates.

Department of Lands and Survey,
Wellington, 26th July, 1932.

NOTICE is hereby given that it is intended, pursuant to
the Rangitaiki Land Drainage Act, 1910, and its
amendments, to make and levy, on the unimproved value of
all land within the district constituted under the said Act,
the general rates to meet maintenance-costs for the period
1st April, 1932, to 31st March, 1933, as described in the
First Schedule hereto; and the special rates to meet interest
on capital for the period 1st April, 1932, to 31st March, 1933,
as described in the Second Schedule hereto.

The amount of such rates will be payable in one sum on the
12th August, 1932.

The valuation-roll of the district is open for inspection at
the office of the Collector of Rates, Chief Drainage Engineer's
Office, Room 44, Government Buildings, Customs Street,
Auckland, and a copy of same may be inspected at the office
of the Chief Drainage Engineer, at Thornton, near Whakatane,
at all times at which those offices are open for the transaction
of public business.

FIRST SCHEDULE.
GENERAL RATES.

Class A: On the unimproved value of all lands classified as
Class A by the arbitrators appointed under the said Act,
twopence and three-tenths of a penny (2·3d.) in the pound.
Class B: On the unimproved value of all lands so classified
as Class B, one penny and fifty-three-one-hundredths of a
penny (1·53d.) in the pound.
Class C: On the unimproved value of all lands so classified
as Class C, seventy-seven-one-hundredths of a penny
(0·77d.) in the pound.
Class D: On the unimproved value of all lands so classified
as Class D, twenty-five-one-hundredths of a penny (0·25d.)
in the pound.

SECOND SCHEDULE.
SPECIAL RATES.

Class A: On the unimproved value of all lands classified as
Class A by the arbitrators appointed under the said Act,
twopence and ninety-six-one-hundredths of a penny
(2·96d.) in the pound.
Class B: On the unimproved value of all lands so classified
as Class B, one penny and ninety-seven-one-hundredths
of a penny (1·97d.) in the pound.
Class C: On the unimproved value of all lands so classified
as Class C, ninety-nine-one-hundredths of a penny (0·99d.)
in the pound.
Class D: On the unimproved value of all lands so classified
as Class D, thirty-three-one-hundredths of a penny (0·33d.)
in the pound.

WHEREAS notice was published in the Gazette of 1931,
page 1056, of the Native Minister's intention to apply
the provisions of subsection (3) of section 23 of the Native Land
Amendment and Native Land Claims Adjustment Act, 1929,
to Awaawakino A and other blocks, and known as the Torere
Development Scheme: Now, therefore, I, the said Native
Minister, do decide to apply the provisions of section 522 of the
Native Land Act, 1931, to the additional land mentioned in
the Schedule hereto as a part of such scheme, and hereby give
notice of my intention accordingly.

No owner, except with the consent of the Native Minister,
is entitled to exercise any rights of ownership in connection
with the land affected so as to interfere with or obstruct the
carrying-out of the development scheme.

published in accordance with the provisions of the Noxious
Weeds Act, 1928.

THAT, pursuant to the powers conferred upon it by section 4
of the Noxious Weeds Act, 1928, the Pohangina County
Council hereby declares by way of Special Order that gorse
(Ulex europaeus) is a noxious weed within the County of
Pohangina.
