to be a member of the Maori Council for the Maori Council District of Tamatea, vice Rakima Hapoka, deceased.

Trustees for Public Cemeteries appointed.—(H.C. 103.)

HIS Excellency the Governor-General has, in pursuance of section 4 of the Cemeteries Act, 1908, been pleased to appoint trustees for public cemeteries as follows:—

Alexander Miller

to be a trustee in place of Walter Blackie, whose seat has become vacant by resignation, to provide for the maintenance and care of the East Taieri Public Cemetery.

David John O'Halloran

to be a trustee in place of Michael O'Halloran, whose seat has become vacant by death, to provide for the maintenance and care of the Tongaporutu Public Cemetery.

Wilfred Henry Henton

to be a trustee in place of William Strode Penny, whose seat has become vacant by death, to provide for the maintenance and care of the Sandon Public Cemetery.

Rev. Alwyn Keith Warren

to be a trustee in place of the Rev. Canon Philip John Cocks, whose seat has become vacant by resignation, to provide for the maintenance and care of the Waimate Public Cemetery.

Samuel Warner Croker

to be a trustee in place of Thomas Smith, whose seat has become vacant by resignation, to provide for the maintenance and care of the Matakana Public Cemetery.

Henry Evans

to be a trustee in place of George Hay, whose seat has become vacant by death, to provide for the maintenance and care of the Romahapa Public Cemetery.

Harry Jocelyn Gill

to be a trustee in place of Robert King, whose seat has become vacant by death, to provide for the maintenance and care of the Te Puke Public Cemetery.

William John Mumm

to be a trustee in place of Cornelius Dean, whose seat has become vacant by death, to provide for the maintenance and care of the Seddonville Public Cemetery.

Appointments, Promotions, Transfers, and Retirements of Officers of the N.Z. Military Forces.

HIS Excellency the Governor-General has been pleased to approve of the appointments, promotions, transfers, and retirements of the undermentioned officers of the New Zealand Military Forces:—

COMMANDS.

The period of command of Lieut.-Colonel G. Lyon, M.C., 2nd Field Brigade, N.Z. Artillery, is extended to 11th June, 1933.

Major W. H. Simpson, M.D., N.Z. Medical Corps, relinquishes command of the 3rd Field Ambulance, and is transferred to the Reserve of Officers, Southern Command. Dated 6th June, 1932.


THE AUCKLAND MOUNTED RIFLES.

Captain S. C. Reid, M.C., Regimental Supernumerary List, is transferred to the Reserve of Officers, Class II (b), R.D. I. Dated 14th June, 1932.

THE NELSON MARLBOROUGH MOUNTED RIFLES.

2nd Lieutenant A. H. Boyce to be Lieutenant. Dated 30th April, 1932.

CORPS OF N.Z. ENGINEERS.

2nd Lieutenant S. T. Tremain (since transferred to the Regimental Supernumerary List) to be Lieutenant. Dated 12th March, 1931.

Hon. Lieutenant and Bandmaster J. A. Stewart, Regimental Supernumerary List, is transferred to the Reserve of Officers, Class I (b), R.D. I. Dated 14th June, 1932.

N.Z. CORPS OF SIGNALS.

Captain (Quartermaster) W. Scott-Higginson, Regimental Supernumerary List, is posted to the Retired List, with permission to retain his rank and wear the prescribed uniform. Dated 6th June, 1932.

THE AUCKLAND REGIMENT (COUNTESS OF RANFURLY’S OWN).

Lieutenant J. E. Leaming, 2nd Cadet Battalion, is transferred to the Hauraki Regiment. Dated 7th June, 1932.

Lieutenant G. H. Pauchurst, from the Wellington Regiment, to be Lieutenant, with seniority as from 11th June, 1928, and is posted to the Regimental Supernumerary List. Dated 9th June, 1932.

THE HAURAKI REGIMENT.

Lieutenant J. E. Leaming, from the Auckland Regiment (Countess of Ranfurly’s Own), to be Lieutenant, with seniority as from 23rd June, 1927, and is posted to the 2nd Cadet Battalion. Dated 7th June, 1932.

THE NORTH AUCKLAND REGIMENT.

Lieutenant R. O. Buchanan, 2nd Cadet Battalion, is posted to the Retired List, with permission to retain his rank and wear the prescribed uniform. Dated 7th June, 1932.

THE WAIKATO REGIMENT.

Lieutenant E. M. Mackersey, 1st Battalion, to be Captain. Dated 30th May, 1932.

THE WELLINGTON REGIMENT.

Lieutenant G. H. Pauchurst, 1st Battalion, is transferred to the Auckland Regiment (Countess of Ranfurly’s Own). Dated 9th June, 1932.

2nd Lieutenant W. A. Bryden, Regimental Supernumerary List, is transferred to the Wellington West Coast Regiment. Dated 8th June, 1932.

THE WELLINGTON WEST COAST REGIMENT.

Lieutenant R. A. McGurk, from the Hawke’s Bay Regiment, to be Lieutenant, with seniority as from 12th July, 1928, and is posted to the Regimental Supernumerary List. Dated 8th June, 1932.

2nd Lieutenant W. A. Bryden, from the Wellington Regiment, to be 2nd Lieutenant, with seniority as from 6th June, 1928, and is posted to the 2nd Cadet Battalion. Dated 8th June, 1932.

THE HAWKE’S BAY REGIMENT.

Lieutenant R. A. McGurk, 1st Battalion, is transferred to the Wellington West Coast Regiment. Dated 8th June, 1932.

Commander Peveril Barton Reibey Wallop William-Powlett, Royal Navy, to H.M.S. “Dunedin” on commissioning for trials, 5th April, 1932, and on recommissioning for service, 26th May, 1932.
