Variation of Order in Council prohibiting Alienation of certain Native Land.

BLEDISLOE, Governor-General.
ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government House at Wellington, this 11th day of May, 1932.

Present:

His Excellency the Governor-General in Council.

WHEREAS it is enacted by section one hundred and sixty-seven of the Native Land Act, 1931, that any Order in Council made thereunder may at any time be varied or revoked:

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance of the power and authority vested in him, doth hereby vary an Order in Council made under section one hundred and thirty-two of the Native Land Act, 1909, dated the fifteenth day of December, one thousand nine hundred and thirty-one, regarding Ruatoki No. 1A No. 1 and other blocks, set out in the Schedule to such Order in Council, by excluding and excepting from prohibition of alienation the land set out in the Schedule hereto.

WHEREAS it is enacted by section one hundred and sixty-seven of the Native Land Act, 1931, that any Order in Council made thereunder may at any time be varied or revoked:

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance of the power and authority vested in him, doth hereby vary an Order in Council made under the said section one hundred and sixty-seven, dated the fourth day of April, one thousand nine hundred and thirty-two, regarding Hauturu East B2 Section 2A 1A and other blocks, set out in the Schedule to such Order in Council, by excluding and excepting from prohibition of alienation the land set out in the Schedule hereto.

Samoa Legislative Council (Elective Membership) Amendment Order, 1932.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government House at Wellington, this 11th day of May, 1932.

Present:

His Excellency the Governor-General in Council.

His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of that Dominion, and in pursuance of the authority to make regulations for the peace, order, and good government of Samoa conferred upon him by the Samoa Act, 1921, and of all other powers and authorities enabling him in that behalf, doth hereby make the following regulations.

REGULATIONS.

  1. (1) THIS Order may be cited as the Samoa Legislative Council (Elective Membership) Amendment Order, 1932, and shall come into force on the first day of June, 1932.

(2) This Order shall be read together with and form part of the Samoa Legislative Council (Elective Membership) Order, 1923 (hereinafter referred to as “the principal Order”).

  1. Clause 2 of the principal Order is hereby amended by deleting from the definition of “Public notice” the words “offices (if any) of the Resident Commissioners at Savai’i and Aleipata”, and substituting therefor the words “office (if any) of the Resident Commissioner in Savai’i”.

  2. Clause 11 of the principal Order is hereby revoked, and the following clause substituted therefor:—

“11. (1) Every person shall be deemed to be qualified to be registered as an elector pursuant to clause 15 of this Order and entitled accordingly to vote at any election of elected members pursuant to clause 23 of this Order if he—

“(i) Is a male person of or over the age of twenty-one years; and

“(ii) Is a resident of Samoa and has continuously resided in Samoa for at least one year immediately preceding the date when the claim for enrolment is made; and
