Appointments, Promotions, and Transfers of Officers of the N.Z. Military Forces.

Department of Defence,
Wellington, 12th April, 1932.

HIS Excellency the Governor-General has been pleased to approve of the appointments, promotions, and transfers of the undermentioned Officers of the New Zealand Military Forces:—

STAFF.

The period of secondment of Captain K. L. Stewart, M.B.E., N.Z. Staff Corps, for service with the Ceylon Defence Force, has been extended to 13th January, 1934.

COMMAND.

The period of command of Lieutenant-Colonel R. G. Milligan, D.S.O., v.d., A.D.C., Northern Coast Artillery Group, is extended to 22nd March, 1933.

QUEEN ALEXANDRA’S (WELLINGTON WEST COAST) MOUNTED RIFLES.

The undermentioned Lieutenants to be Captains:—

E. R. Harford. Dated 11th September, 1931.

E. F. Laws. Dated 14th March, 1932.

THE NELSON-MARLBOROUGH MOUNTED RIFLES.

2nd Lieutenant A. V. Neal, Regimental Supernumerary List, is posted to the active list. Dated 25th March, 1932.

THE WELLINGTON REGIMENT.

Sydney James Lambourne to be 2nd Lieutenant (on probation), and is posted to the 2nd Cadet Battalion. Dated 12th February, 1932.

THE HAWKE’S BAY REGIMENT.

Captain W. P. Dunphy, 2nd Cadet Battalion, to be Major. Dated 2nd August, 1931.

THE CANTERBURY REGIMENT.

2nd Lieutenant J. L. Grant, 1st Battalion, to be Lieutenant. Dated 26th November, 1931.

N.Z. AIR FORCE.

Squadron-Leader P. K. Fowler relinquishes command of No. 4 (Army Co-operation) Squadron, and is posted to Wing Headquarters. Dated 30th March, 1932.

N.Z. MEDICAL CORPS.

Major P. R. Woodhouse, D.S.O., M.C., v.d., M.B., is transferred to the Reserve of Officers, Southern Command. Dated 31st March, 1932.

Appointment of Honorary Aides-de-Camp to His Excellency the Governor-General.

Captain Colin Sinclair Thomson, R.N., and

Commander Victor Alexander Charles Crutchley, V.C., D.S.C., R.N.

to be Honorary Naval Aides-de-Camp on his staff.

Appointment in the Public Service.

THE Public Service Commissioner has made the following appointment in the Public Service:—

Albert Murray Kennedy,

to be an Inspector of Factories for the purposes of the Factories Act, 1921–22, as from the 22nd day of February, 1932.

Dunedin City Council.—Cancellation of Unexercised Loan Authority.

In the matter of section 118 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926.

WHEREAS the Dunedin City Council has been duly authorized to borrow by way of special loan the sum of twenty thousand pounds for providing work for the relief of unemployment by undertaking certain street works within the city, and the consent of the Governor-General in Council to the raising of the said loan was given by Order in Council made on the twenty-eighth day of May, one thousand nine hundred and thirty, and published in the Gazette on the fifth day of June, one thousand nine hundred and thirty, at page 1895 :

And whereas it has not been found necessary to borrow any of the amount so authorized, and the Minister of Finance has duly notified the Dunedin City Council in writing of his intention to cancel the loan authority in so far as it has not been exercised :

Now, therefore, in exercise of the powers in that behalf conferred upon me by section one hundred and eighteen of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926, and of all other powers me in this behalf enabling, I, William Downie Stewart, Minister of Finance, do hereby cancel the authority of the Dunedin City Council to borrow, under the loan authority hereinbefore referred to, the sum of twenty thousand pounds, being the amount in respect of which the said loan authority has not been exercised.

Native Minister to apply Provisions of Section 25 of Native Trustee Act, 1930.

NOTICE is hereby given of my intention to vest the control and management of the land described in the Schedule hereto in the Native Trustee in terms of section 25 of the Native Trustee Act, 1930.

Prohibition of Issue of Money-orders and Transmission of Postal Correspondence in New Zealand for Persons connected with “Limerick Sweep.”

THE Postmaster-General of the Dominion of New Zealand having reasonable ground for supposing that the persons whose names and addresses are shown in the Schedule hereunder are engaged in promoting or carrying out a lottery or scheme of chance, it is hereby ordered, under section 32 of the Post and Telegraph Act, 1928, that no money-order in favour of any of the said persons shall be issued, and that no postal packet addressed to any of the said persons (either by their own or any fictitious or assumed name), or addressed to any of the addresses in the Schedule hereunder without a name shall be either registered or forwarded by the Post Office of New Zealand.
