SECOND SCHEDULE.
SECOND-CLASS LAND.
Waitotara County.—Tunakira Survey District.
(Exempt from payment of rent and interest for a period of five years.)
Section 2, Block XIV: Area, 1,916 acres. Capital value, £700. Renewable Lease: Half-yearly rent, £14.
Exemptions from rent and interest are contingent upon improvements being effected to the value of remissions granted during period of remission.
Weighted with the sum of £1,000 for improvements consisting of a four-room dwelling, 300 chains of fencing in poor repair, and felling and grassing. A cash deposit of £50 is required, and the balance of purchase-money is to be secured on instalment mortgage for a period not exceeding 36½ years and bearing interest at 5 per cent. per annum if purchased by a discharged soldier, or 5½ per cent. per annum if purchased by a civilian.
This section is situated in the Ahu Ahu Valley and is 38 miles from Kai Iwi Post-office and railway-station and 8 miles from a household school. Access from Kai Iwi or by river steamer to Te Tuhi landing. Steep broken country; the Ahu Ahu Stream, being along frontage, access, over which is by stock bridge. About 750 acres has been felled and grassed, but a large proportion has reverted to scrub and fern. Soil is of a light nature resting on sandstone and papa formation. Suitable for grazing only.
THIRD-CLASS LAND.
Waimarino County.—Whirinaki Survey District.
(Native Land Settlement Account.)
(Exempt from rent for five years and from interest for three years.)
Section 1, Block X: Area, 425 acres 2 roods 30 perches. Capital value, £100. Renewable lease: Half-yearly rent, £2 10s.
Weighted with £414 for improvements consisting of felling, grassing, and fencing. A cash deposit of £24 is required, the balance of purchase-money to be secured by instalment mortgage under the Discharged Soldiers Settlement Act for a term not exceeding 36½ years and bearing interest at the rate of 5 per cent. per annum if purchased by a discharged soldier or 5½ per cent. per annum if purchased by a civilian. Exempt from payment of interest on mortgage for a period of three years and from rent for five years subject to improvements to the value of that remission being expended on the property during the period of remission.
Situated on the Mangatiti Road, thirty miles from Raetihi Post-office, dairy factory, sale-yards, and railway-station, four miles from Murumuru School. About twenty miles of metalled road, balance formed dray road. Hilly and broken land, most suitable to some settler in the vicinity as an additional area. Approximately 250 acres have been felled and grassed, balance bush. Altitude 1,100 ft. to 2,000 ft. above sea-level. No buildings.

NOTICE is hereby given that written tenders for the lease of the undermentioned education reserve will be received at the District Lands and Survey Office, Christchurch, up to 4 o'clock p.m. on Thursday, 24th March, 1932, under the provisions of the Education Reserves Act, 1928, and the Public Bodies' Leases Act, 1908.
SCHEDULE.
CANTERBURY LAND DISTRICT.
Ashburton County.—Sparton Survey District.
(PRIMARY.)
Lot 2, D.P. 5117, part Reserve 2000, Blocks V, VI, IX, and X: Area, 476 acres 3 roods 32 perches. Minimum half-yearly rent, £75.
Term of lease: Five years without right of renewal.
Situated on Spreadeagle Road, distant four miles and a half from Alford Forest Post-office and school, and twelve miles and a half from Springburn Railway-station. Altitude about 1,200 ft.; all flat and ploughable, having a slightly southerly aspect. Subdivided into eight paddocks, and watered by county races. In good pasture of a permanent character, which can be well maintained by periodic top-dressing. Should carry up to 500 ewes and 125 dry sheep in present condition.

NOTICE is hereby given that the undermentioned land will be offered for sale by public auction, for cash or on deferred payments, at the Timaru Lands Office, on Thursday, 17th March, 1932, at 2 o'clock p.m., under the provisions of the Land Act, 1924, and the Land for Settlements Act, 1925, and amendments.

CANTERBURY LAND DISTRICT.—SETTLEMENT LAND.
FIRST-CLASS LAND.
Waimate County.—Scottson Settlement.
Lot 3, D.P. 9412: Area, 258 acres 0 roods 32 perches. upset price, £4,200.
Situated on Ōak Valley Road, about six miles and a half from St. Andrews Railway-station by good metalled road. Comprises undulating land, broken by gullies and dry creek-beds. Altitude up to 600 ft., and soil fair to good quality, resting on clay and gravel formation. Property subdivided into six paddocks and watered by dams. About 20 acres in two-year grass, 40 acres ploughed and grubbed up, 40 acres skimmed and part deep-ploughed, and balance (158 acres) in worn-out pasture. Land generally is good cropping-land, mostly lies well to the sun, grows good grain, roots, and green feed if properly worked, and should make a good mixed farm when fully developed. Improvements, comprising old wooden hut (value £20), dams (value £25), and 370 chains fencing (value £170): total £215, are included in the capital value of the land.

NOTICE is hereby given that the undermentioned section is open for selection on renewable lease under the Land Act, 1924, and the Land for Settlements Act, 1925; and applications will be received at the District Lands and Survey Office, Dunedin, up to 4 o'clock p.m. on Monday, 7th March, 1932.
Applicants should appear personally for examination at the District Lands and Survey Office, Dunedin, on Wednesday, 9th March, 1932, at 10 o'clock a.m., but if any applicant is unable to attend he may be examined by any other Land Board or by any Commissioner of Crown Lands.
The ballot will be held immediately upon conclusion of the examination of applicants.
SCHEDULE.
OTAGO LAND DISTRICT.—FIRST-CLASS LAND.—SETTLEMENT LAND.
Bruce County.—Greenfield Settlement.
Section 1A: Area, 540 acres 1 rood 23 perches. Capital value, £1,700. Renewable lease: Half-yearly rent, £44.
Weighted with £940, for improvements consisting of dwelling, outbuildings, stable and barn, cow-byre and implement-shed, fencing, cultivation, and growing crops.
This amount is payable in cash or by deposit £300, the balance to be secured by mortgage, term 25½ years in case of a soldier (interest 5 per cent.) or 24½ years in case of a civilian (interest 5½ per cent.).
NOTE.—The Crown reserves the right to dispose of the whole or part of the growing crops before the date of ballot, and in this event the loading for improvements and the required deposit will be reduced by the amount realized.
Situated about seven miles from Waitahuna Post-office and Railway-station by good metalled road. Balaclutha is about twenty-five miles distant. The soil is mostly fair black loam resting on clay formation, about 175 acres being ploughable. Suitable for grazing, cropping, and mixed farming. Well watered by creeks and springs.
