NOTICE is hereby given that SMITH AND LISTER, LIMITED, intend to cease carrying on business in New Zealand upon the expiration of three calendar months from the date hereof.

All debts due to and owing by the company will be received and paid by its attorney at the office of the company, No. 69 Victoria Street, Wellington.

WAIPUKURAU BOROUGH COUNCIL.

RESOLUTION STRIKING SPECIAL RATE.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by the Local Bodies' Loans Act, 1926, the Waipukurau Borough Council hereby resolves as follows:—

That, for the purpose of providing the interest and other charges on a loan of £650, authorized to be raised by the Waipukurau Borough Council under the provisions of the Hawke's Bay Earthquake Act, 1931, and the Local Bodies' Loans Act, 1926, for earthquake repairs, the said Waipukurau Borough Council hereby makes and levies a special rate of 11/100ths (eleven one-hundredths) of a penny in the pound upon the rateable value of all rateable property of the Borough of Waipukurau, on the basis of the unimproved value, and that such special rate shall be an annual-recurring rate during the currency of such loan, and be payable yearly on the 1st day of April in each and every year during the currency of the loan, being a period of twenty years, or until the loan is fully paid off.

MCGRUERS (NAPIER) LIMITED.

VOLUNTARY WINDING-UP.

NOTICE is hereby given that McGRUERS (NAPIER) LIMITED, a private company duly incorporated under the Companies Act, 1908, and having its registered office at Napier, by an entry in its minute-book made on the 17th day of December, 1931, signed by at least three-fourths of the members, holding in the aggregate at least three-fourths of the shares in the capital of the company, resolved as follows:—

“That, as it is proved to the company’s satisfaction that the company cannot, by reason of its liabilities, continue its business, it is advisable to wind up the company, and that the company be herewith wound up, and that Mr. W. J. PALLOT, Accountant, of Napier, be appointed Liquidator for the purpose of winding up the company and distributing its assets.”

The winding-up of the company is the result of losses suffered in the earthquake.

NEW ZEALAND CRICKET, LIMITED.

IN LIQUIDATION.

NOTICE is hereby given that at an ordinary general meeting of the above-named company, duly convened and held on the 17th day of December, 1931, the following resolution was passed:—

“That the principal object for which the company was established having been to promote and finance a tour of a New Zealand Cricket Team to the United Kingdom during the year 1931, as set out in clause 2, subsection (a), of the Memorandum of Association of the company, in accordance with section 220, subsection (a) of the Companies Act, 1908, the company be wound up voluntarily; and that ALFRED ERNEST BYRNE, of Christchurch, Accountant, be appointed Liquidator for the purpose of such winding-up.

NOTICE is hereby given in pursuance of sections 230 and 252 of the Companies Act, 1908, that a general meeting of members of the above-named company will be held at the office of Messrs. Byrne and Co., T. and G. Buildings, 192 Hereford Street, Christchurch, on Monday, the 18th January, 1932, at 4 o’clock p.m., for the purpose of having an account laid before them showing the manner in which the winding-up has been conducted and the property of the company disposed of, and of hearing any explanation that may be given by the Liquidator; and also of determining by extraordinary resolution the manner in which the books, accounts, and documents of the company and of the Liquidator thereof shall be disposed of.

“That it has been proved to the satisfaction of this meeting that the company cannot, by reason of its liabilities, continue its business, and that it is advisable to wind up the same, and that accordingly the company be wound up, and that ALEXANDER JOHN McLENNAN, of Wellington, Public Accountant, be appointed Liquidator for the purposes of such winding-up.”

NOTICE is hereby given that the above-named company is in voluntary liquidation, and that all persons or companies having claims against the company are required to send full particulars thereof to me on or before the 25th January, 1932, otherwise they may be excluded from participation in the distribution of the assets.
