Authorizing the Laying-off of a Road of less Width than 66 ft.

WHEREAS, in the opinion of the Minister of Lands it is inexpedient, by reason of the fact that the land shown upon the plan of Town of Birchville Extension No. 6 affecting part Section 221, Hutt Registration District, in Block XIV, Akatarawa Survey District, is intended to be used wholly for residential purposes that Toa Road shown therein should be of the width of 66 ft.:

Now, therefore, I, Ethelbert Alfred Ransom, Minister of Lands, do hereby, in pursuance of the power conferred upon me by section 17, subsection (1), of the Land Act, 1924, and of every other power me thereunto enabling, authorize the laying-off of Toa Road of a width of not less than 50 ft.: Provided always that it shall not be lawful for any person to erect or cause to be erected any building at a less distance than 33 ft. from the middle of such road.

Given under my hand this 17th day of December, 1931.

Now, therefore, I, Ethelbert Alfred Ransom, Minister of Lands, do hereby, in pursuance of the power conferred upon me by section 17, subsection (1), of the Land Act, 1924, and of every other power me thereunto enabling, authorize the laying-off of the said road of a width of not less than 21·8 ft.: Provided always that it shall not be lawful for any person to erect or cause to be erected any building at a less distance than 33 ft. from the middle of such road.

THE following special order, made by the Otahuhu Borough Council on the 19th day of November, 1931, is published in accordance with the provisions of the Noxious Weeds Act, 1928.

SPECIAL ORDER.

THE Otahuhu Borough Council doth hereby, in exercise of the powers conferred by sections 5 and 6 of the Noxious Weeds Act, 1928, by special order declare and ordain as follows:—

That all the plants mentioned in the Schedule hereto are noxious weeds within the jurisdiction of the Otahuhu Borough Council.

THE SCHEDULE ABOVE REFERRED TO.

African boxthorn (Lycium horridum), Barberry (Berberis vulgaris), Capeweed or Cape Daisy (Cryptostemma calendulaceum), Cape honeyflower (Mellianthus major), Cut-leaved psoralea (Psoralea pinnata), Goat’s rue (Galega officinalis), Japanese wineberry (Rubus phoenicolasius), Lantana (Lantana camara), Paterson’s curse (Echium plantagineum), Penny-cress or Canadian stinkweed (Thlaspi arvense), Prickly pear (Opuntia, any species), Spiderwort (Leycesteria formosa), Toad flax (Linaria vulgaris), Woolly nightshade (Solanum auriculatum), Stinking Mayweed (Anthemis Cotula), Convolvulus (Convolvulus Arvensis and Convolvulus sepium).

CERTIFICATE.

I, HAMILTON ANDREW HUGH GILMER, the Medical Officer in attendance at the execution of George Errol Coats, at the prison at Wellington, do hereby certify and declare that I have this day witnessed the execution of the said George Errol Coats at the said prison; and I do further certify and declare that the said George Errol Coats was, in pursuance of the sentence of the Supreme Court, hanged by the neck until his body was dead.

Given under my hand, this 17th day of December, 1931, at the Prison at Wellington.

DECLARATION.

We do hereby testify and declare that we have this day been present when the extreme penalty of the law was carried into execution on the body of George Errol Coats, convicted at the Criminal Sittings of the Supreme Court held at Wellington on the 27th day of October last and sentenced to death, and that the said George Errol Coats was, in pursuance of the said sentence, hanged by the neck until his body was dead.

Date of Election by Fire-insurance Companies to fill Extraordinary Vacancy on the Hawera Fire Board.

PURSUANT to the Fire Brigades Act, 1926, and the rules made thereunder, I, Adam Hamilton, being the Minister charged with the administration of the said Act, do hereby appoint Friday, the 15th January, 1932, to be the date for holding the election of one member of the Hawera Fire Board by the fire-insurance companies concerned, such election being held to fill the extraordinary vacancy caused by the resignation of Mr. George Duncan.

Notice respecting Proposed Alteration of Boundaries, Borough of Timaru.

IT is hereby notified that a petition has been presented to His Excellency the Governor-General, under the Municipal Corporations Act, 1920, praying that the area described in the Schedule hereto may be excluded from the County of Levels and included in the Borough of Timaru. All persons affected are hereby called upon to lodge any written objections to or petitions against the proposed alteration of boundaries which they desire to lodge, within one month from the first publication of this notice, such objections or petitions to be addressed to the Minister of Internal Affairs, Wellington.

SCHEDULE.

AREA PROPOSED TO BE EXCLUDED FROM THE COUNTY OF LEVELS AND INCLUDED IN THE BOROUGH OF TIMARU.

All that area of land, situate in the Levels County, commencing at the southernmost corner of Lot 5, D.P. 2830, being the point on Selwyn Street which is on the boundary between the County of Levels and the Borough of Timaru; thence proceeding in a north-westerly direction along the east side of Selwyn Street to the westernmost corner of Lot 5, D.P. 3426; thence north-easterly along the north-western boundary of the last-mentioned Lot 5 to its northernmost corner; thence south-easterly to the westernmost corner of Lot 4 on the said D.P. 3426; thence along the north-west boundaries of Lots 4, 3, 2, and 1 on said D.P. 3426 to the northernmost corner of the last-mentioned lot; thence north-westerly along the west boundary of Lot 10, D.P. 2552, for a distance of 2 chains; thence in a straight line in a north-easterly direction to the westernmost corner of Lot 71 on D.P. 3430; thence along the southern boundary of Andrew Street to the northernmost corner of Lot 84 on the said D.P. 3430; thence in a straight line across Bouverie Street to the southernmost corner of Lot 35 on the said D.P. 3430; thence north-westerly along the eastern side of Bouverie Street to the westernmost corner of Lot 33 on the
