THIRD-CLASS LAND.

Waimea County.—Kaiteriteri Survey District.

Section 94, Block X: Area, 114 acres 2 roods. Capital value, £35. Half-yearly rent, 14s.

Weighted with £8 10s., for improvements comprising 17 chains of fencing.

The section is situated to the north of Kaiteriteri, towards the beach, and access is from Riwaka. The section comprises from 25 to 30 acres of birch bush, the balance being fern and manuka. The soil is of poor quality resting on granite and clay formation. The forest is mostly birch, with a little rimu. The section is fairly well watered by two streams. There are no buildings.

Murchison County.—Maruia Survey District.

Section 3, Block VIII, and Section 4, Block VII: Area, 1,026 acres 2 roods 38 perches. Capital value, £260. Half-yearly rent, £5 4s.

Weighted, in favour of the State Advances Department, with £123 10s. for improvements consisting of 450 acres felling.

The sections are situated in the Glengarry Valley, nineteen miles from Murchison, sixteen miles to new bridge-site by good metalled road, and three miles by stock-track. There is no grass on the property at present; 230 acres flat and undulating country, 450 acres felled and grassed (now reverted to fern); balance bush. The soil is fair on flats, poor on hills, resting on sandstone formation.

Waimea County.—Gordon Survey District.

Sections 5 and 7, Block VI: Area, 483 acres 1 rood. Capital value, £75. Half-yearly rent, £1 10s.

Loaded, in favour of the Superintendent State Advances, with £50 for improvements consisting of 120 chains of fencing.

These sections are situated six miles from Belgrove. The country is all hilly, 412 acres are in fern and tutu and 75 acres in bush. The soil comprises poor, hard clay. The sections are well watered. Timber is reserved to the Crown.

NATIONAL-ENDOWMENT LAND.

Waimea County.—Tadmor Survey District.

Section 26, Block XI: Area, 258 acres. Capital value, £65. Half-yearly rent, £1 6s.

Loaded with £10 for improvements, consisting of 15 chains of fencing.

This section is situated in Donald Creek, the access being from Tui, about two miles and a half distant by Keruru Road, formed but only metalled in parts.

The section is all hills, the bush having been felled, it is now all fern. The soil is poor hard clay. The section is well watered by creeks, and the altitude is from about 900 ft. to 1,900 ft. The general quality of the section is poor.

Waimea County.—Kaiteriteri Survey District.

Section 9, Block VI: Area, 728 acres. Capital value, £225. Half-yearly rent, £4 10s.

Weighted with £150, for improvements consisting of 110 chains of fencing, 235 acres felling and grassing, one slab whare, one iron shed.

Situated about four miles from Sandy Bay, and access is from Riwaka, about twelve miles. Road and beach to within two miles of section, while from there on there is only a pack-track which goes through property previously held by R. Bowron. Approximate area of bush is 463 acres, fern 130 acres, while 135 acres is fair to good pasture. The soil is fair resting on granite formation, while the forest is mostly birch with a fair sprinkling of rimu, tawhero, &c., and undergrowth of kihi kihi and supplejack in the gullies; scrub on ridges. Well watered by permanent streams. General quality of section good.

Murchison County.—Lyell Survey District.

Section 10, Block XVI: Area, 446 acres. Capital value, £180. Half-yearly rent, £3 12s.

The section is situated in the Buller Valley, about seven miles from Murchison, two miles and a half from telephone-office. The section fronts the main road.

The section comprises small flats on creek, but the road-frontage is mostly steep country. A fire has been over portion of the land, and there is now some rough feed mixed with fern, &c.

The soil is of a fair quality resting on sandstone formation. The forest is medium bush comprising mixed birch with few pines, with a medium undergrowth of birch scrub.

The section is fairly well watered by creeks.

The elevation ranges from about 460 ft. to 2,000 ft. above sea-level.

Land in Westland Land District, Westland Mining District,
for Selection on Renewable Lease.

District Lands and Survey Office,
Hokitika, 7th December, 1931.

NOTICE is hereby given that the undermentioned section is open for selection on renewable lease under the Land Act, 1924; and applications will be received at the District Lands and Survey Office, Hokitika, up to 4 o’clock p.m. on Monday, 18th January, 1932.

Applicants should appear personally for examination at the District Lands and Survey Office, Hokitika, on Wednesday, 20th January, 1932, at 10 o’clock a.m., but if any applicant is unable to attend he may be examined by any other Land Board or by any Commissioner of Crown Lands.

The ballot will be held immediately upon conclusion of the examination of applicants.

The land is offered in terms of section 153 of the Land Act which provides that no right to any mineral under the surface shall pertain to the lessee, whose rights shall be to the surface soil only.

WESTLAND LAND DISTRICT.—WESTLAND MINING DISTRICT.—TOWN LAND.

Runanga Borough.—Town of Runanga.

SECTION 3, Block XX: Area, 1 rood. Capital value, £40. Half-yearly rent, £1.

Section is situated in Town of Runanga, distant three miles by road and railway from Greymouth.

STATE FOREST SERVICE NOTICE.

Milling-timber for Sale by Public Tender.

State Forest Service,
Palmerston North, 9th December, 1931.

NOTICE is hereby given that written tenders for the purchase of the undermentioned milling-timber will close at the office of the State Forest Service, Palmerston North, at 4 o’clock p.m. on Tuesday, the 29th December, 1931.

SCHEDULE.

WELLINGTON CONSERVATION-REGION.—WELLINGTON LAND DISTRICT.

ALL the milling-timber on that area, containing 226 acres, being part of Lot 1, State Forest No. 42, Block IV, Kaitieki Survey District, situated close to Owhango Railway-station by Main Trunk line.

The total estimated quantity in cubic feet is 440,833, or in board feet, 3,068,200, made up as follows:—

Terms of Payment.

A marked cheque for one-eighth of the purchase-money, together with half-year’s ground rent and £1 1s. license fee, must accompany the tender, and the balance be paid by seven equal quarterly instalments, the first of which shall be paid six months after the date of sale, unless the successful tenderer shall buy the existing sawmill, when the first instalment shall be paid three months after the date of sale.

In addition, the successful tenderer shall continue to pay such ground rent, half-yearly in advance, during the currency of the license.

Tributary Timber.

A tributary area sufficient for a five-year cut will be offered to the successful tenderer at an appropriate time, at the Service upset price; and, if not accepted, the tributary timber will then be offered for sale by public competition in the usual way.
