CROWN LANDS NOTICES.
Lands in the Nelson Land District for Sale or Selection.
District Lands and Survey Office,
Nelson, 7th December, 1931.
NOTICE is hereby given that the undermentioned lands will be open for selection in terms of the Land Act, 1924; and applications will be received at the District Lands and Survey Office, Nelson, up to 4 o’clock p.m. on Tuesday, 12th January, 1932.
The lands in the First Schedule may, at the option of the applicant, be purchased for cash, or on deferred payments, or be selected on renewable lease.
The lands in the Second Schedule are available for selection on renewable lease only.
Applicants must appear personally before the Land Board for examination at the District Lands and Survey Office, Nelson, on Thursday, 14th January, 1932, at 10.30 o’clock a.m., but if any applicant so desires he may be examined by the Land Board of any other district.
The ballot will be held immediately on conclusion of the examination of applicants.
FIRST SCHEDULE.
NELSON LAND DISTRICT.
THIRD-CLASS LAND.
Waimea County.—Wai-iti Survey District.
SECTIONS 14, 15, and 16, Block X: Area, 248 acres 2 roods 11 perches. Capital value, £65. Deposit on deferred payments, £10; half-yearly instalment on deferred payments, £1 15s. 9d. Renewable lease: Half-yearly rent, £1 6s.
The sections are situated at the head of Hodgen’s Valley, and access is from Wakefield, which is fifteen miles distant, by good road, with the exception of the last mile and a half which is unformed. The land comprises steep hills covered with fern, with patches of bush in the gullies. Soil clayey. Sections are poorly watered by a creek.
Sections 20 and 22, Block X: Area, 272 acres. Capital value, £68. Deposit on deferred payments, £10; half-yearly instalment on deferred payments, £1 17s. 9d. Renewable lease: Half-yearly rent, £1 7s. 2d.
The sections are situated eleven miles from Tapawera Railway-station and seven miles from Stanley Brook School by good road. They are watered by small streams in the gullies. No water in the summer. The area has all been felled and grassed, but has now reverted to fern.
SECOND SCHEDULE.
FIRST-CLASS LAND.
Buller County.—Mokihinui Survey District.
(Westport Harbour Endowment.)
SECTION 40, Block XV: Area, 5 acres 2 roods 27 perches. Capital value, £25. Half-yearly rent, 10s.
Weighted with £35, for improvements consisting of felling, grassing, and stumping.
The above section is situated about half a mile from Seddonville, and is comprised of flat and low-lying land.
SECOND-CLASS LAND.
Takaka County.—Totaranui Survey District.
Sections 3 and 8, Block V: Area, 1,215 acres 0 roods 5 perches. Capital value, £1,300. Half-yearly rent, £26.
This property is situated close to the Anatimo-Takaka Road, and is two miles from Anatimo Post-office and twelve miles from Golden Bay Dairy Factory. Access is by road, the last five miles of which is unmetalled. Section is watered by permanent streams. The soil is poor to fair quality resting on granite formation. The country is steep and broken, and is rapidly going to fern and rubbish, and requires sowing in hard grasses, subdivision into more paddocks, and proper stocking. When properly developed will carry 500 sheep and 15 cattle. Improvements consist of six-roomed dwelling (in need of repair), a wool-shed, and 345 chains of fencing. Five hundred and fifty acres has been felled and grassed, but has now reverted to fern.
