THE BRUCE RAILWAY AND COAL COMPANY, LIMITED.

IN VOLUNTARY LIQUIDATION.

NOTICE is hereby given that a general meeting of the members of the above company will be held at the office of Messrs. Downie Stewart and Payne, No. 5 Liverpool Street, Dunedin, on Wednesday, 21st day of October, 1931, at 3 o’clock p.m., for the purpose of having an account laid before the meeting showing the manner in which the winding-up of the said company has been conducted and the assets of the said company disposed of, and of hearing any explanation that may be given by the Liquidator, and also of passing an extraordinary resolution disposing of the books, documents, and accounts of the said company and of the liquidation thereof.

SKELTON, FROSTICK, AND COMPANY, LIMITED.

NOTICE is hereby given that at an extraordinary general meeting of the shareholders in the above company, duly convened and held at the office of the company, Hereford Street, Christchurch, on the 30th day of September, 1931, at 10.30 o’clock a.m., the following extraordinary resolution was duly passed:—

Resolution: “That it has been proved to the satisfaction of this meeting that the company cannot, by reason of its liabilities, continue to carry on its business, and that it is advisable to wind up the same, and accordingly that the company be wound up voluntarily, and that Mr. HARRY BURROWS DUCKWORTH, of Christchurch, Merchant, and JAMES MAWSON STEWART, of Christchurch, Public Accountant, be and are hereby appointed Liquidators of the company for the purpose of such winding-up.”

BECK’S BLIND AND FURNISHING COMPANY, LIMITED.

IN VOLUNTARY LIQUIDATION.

In the matter of the Companies Act, 1908, and in the matter of BECK’S BLIND AND FURNISHING COMPANY, LIMITED (in Liquidation).

NOTICE is hereby given that at an extraordinary meeting of shareholders of the company held on Tuesday, the 6th day of October, 1931, it was resolved that the company go into voluntary liquidation.

It was also resolved that JAMES HOPE ROBERTSON, of Christchurch, Official Assignee, is appointed the Liquidator for the purposes of such winding-up.

Creditors of the company are hereby requested, on or before the 7th November, to send in their claims to the undersigned, or in default thereof they may be excluded from participation in any distribution made.

NAPIER BOROUGH COUNCIL.

RESOLUTION MAKING SPECIAL RATE AS SECURITY FOR SPECIAL LOAN OF £25,000.

JOHN SAXON BARTON and LACHLAN BAIN CAMPBELL, the Special Committee of Management for the Borough of Napier, acting on behalf of the Napier Borough Council, and in pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred by the Hawke’s Bay Earthquake Act, 1931, and the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926, and of all other powers them enabling, resolve as follows:—

That, for the purpose of providing the moneys required to repay a special loan of £25,000, and pay interest thereon at the rate of four pounds per centum per annum, which loan was authorized to be raised by the Napier Borough Council under the above-mentioned Acts for the purpose of paying the cost of repairing the damage caused by the earthquake which occurred on the 3rd day of February last to the following municipal works and undertakings: Abattoirs; water service; drainage and sanitary service; electric service; tramways; reserves; streets; the said John Saxon Barton and Lachlan Bain Campbell, as such Committee acting on behalf of the Napier Borough Council, hereby make and levy a special rate of thirty-one one-hundredths (31/100ths) of a penny in the pound (£) upon all rateable property (on the basis of the unimproved value) within the Borough of Napier, and that such special rate shall be an annually recurring rate during the currency of such loan, calculated from the date on which interest first commences to accrue on any portion of the loan-moneys, and be payable yearly on the 14th day of August in each and every year during the currency of such loan, calculated from the date aforesaid, being a period of twenty years from such date, or until the loan is fully paid off.

WELLINGTON CITY COUNCIL.

RESOLUTION MAKING SPECIAL RATE.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by the provisions of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926, and by all other Acts and powers it in this behalf enabling, the Wellington City Council hereby resolves on the 5th day of October, 1931, as follows:—

That, for the purpose of providing the interest, sinking fund, and other charges on a special loan of eleven thousand eight hundred pounds (£11,800) to be known as “The Wellington City Mount Victoria Tunnel Loan (1920) Supplementary Loan, 1931,” authorized to be raised by the Wellington City Council for the purpose of completing the undertaking for which the said Council raised the Wellington City Mount Victoria Tunnel Loan, 1920—namely, the construction of a new tunnel through Mount Victoria, in the City of Wellington —the said Wellington City Council hereby makes and levies a special rate of one-hundredth of a penny (1/100d.) in the pound on the rateable value (on the basis of the unimproved value) of all rateable property in the City of Wellington, and that such special rate shall be an annual-recurring rate during the currency of such loan, and be payable yearly on the 1st day of April in each and every year during the currency of such loan, being a period of thirty-six (36) years from the 1st day of November, 1931, or until the loan is fully paid off.

WAIKATO COUNTY COUNCIL.

INTENTION TO TAKE LAND.

In the matter of the Public Works Act, 1928.

PUBLIC notice is hereby given that the Waikato County Council proposes to execute a certain public work—to wit, increasing of the width of a road—for which purpose the following lands require to be taken by the Waikato County Council under the provisions of the Public Works Act, 1928, sections 22 and 23 (that is to say):—

  1. All that piece or parcel of land in the Provincial District of Auckland, containing by admeasurement four and four-tenths perches (more or less), being part of Lot one on a plan deposited in the Land Transfer Office at Auckland under Number 13184, and being part of the land included in Vol. 355, folio 212, of the register-book at Auckland: Bounded towards the south-east by other part of the said Lot one, ninety-five and five-tenths links; towards the south-west by a road, seventy-five links; and towards the north-west by a road, seventy-five links.

  2. All that piece or parcel of land in the said Provincial District containing six and seven-tenths perches (more or less), being part of Lot nine on a plan deposited in the Land Transfer Office at Auckland under Number 13822, being part of the land included in Vol. 621, folio 286, of the register-book at Auckland: Bounded towards the north-east by a road, one hundred links; towards the south-west by other part of the said Lot nine, one hundred and seventy-six and forty-seven one-hundredths links; and towards the north by a road, one hundred links.

A plan of the lands required to be taken as aforesaid is open for inspection at the office of the Waikato County Council, Grey Street, Hamilton East.

All persons affected are hereby called upon to set forth in writing any well-founded objection to the execution of such work or to the taking of such lands, and to send such writing to the Waikato County Council within forty days of the first publication of this notice.
