Alteration to Beacons: Exhibition of Lights.

Position: Between Harrington Point and Maori Kaik Jetty.

Alterations: Nos. 1, 2, 3, and 4 black single-pile beacons are being replaced by piled beacons with small towers, each of which will exhibit a fixed white light from the following dates:—

No. 4. 6th October.
No. 3. 13th October.
No. 2. 20th October.
No. 1. 27th October.

Rates of Exchange for Customs Purposes.

Customs Department,
Wellington, 3rd October, 1931.

IT is hereby notified for public information that the Minister of Customs has decided to cancel the notifications respecting rates of exchange published in the New Zealand Gazette on 29th July, 1926, 23rd January, 1930, and 15th January, 1931, and, in pursuance of section 121 of the Customs Act, 1913, as amended by the Customs Amendment Act, 1921, has declared that, with respect to all goods invoiced in any currency other than that in force in New Zealand, the value of such goods in New Zealand for the purposes of duty shall be ascertained according to the banking rate of exchange in force on the date of exportation of the goods from the country of export to New Zealand.

The Minister has further declared that, notwithstanding the foregoing, the value of such goods which were exported from the country of export to New Zealand on or before the 20th day of September, 1931, shall be ascertained as if this notification had not been issued.

Election of Member of Teachers’ Superannuation Board.

IN pursuance of regulations made under the Public Service Superannuation Act, 1927, I hereby certify that for the election of two members of the Teachers’ Superannuation Board constituted by the said Act, to fill the vacancies caused by the resignations of Herbert Charles Jones and John Ernest Purchase, the following nominations were received:—

William Fulton Abel.
John Gunn Polson.

As the number of persons nominated does not exceed the number of vacancies to be filled, I hereby declare that the said William Fulton Abel and John Gunn Polson are duly elected members of the said Board.
