Result of Poll for Proposed Loan.

THE following notice, received from the Chairman, Waimea Electric-power Board, is published in accordance with the provisions of the Local Bodies' Loans Act, 1926.

WAIMEA ELECTRIC-POWER BOARD.

Pursuant to section 13 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926, I hereby give notice that at a poll of the electors within that portion of the area of supply of the Waimea Electric Supply and Manufacturing Company included in the Waimea Electric-power Board’s area, taken on the 16th day of September, 1931, on the proposal to borrow the sum of £30,000 for the purpose of purchasing the Waimea Electric Supply Company’s undertaking and carrying out the necessary work in connection therewith, the number of votes recorded for the proposal was 290; the number of votes recorded against the proposal was 415.

I therefore declare that the proposal was rejected.

WHEREAS notice was published in the Gazette of the 13th March, 1930, that the Native Minister has decided to apply the provisions of subsection (3) of section 23 of the Native Land Amendment and Native Land Claims Adjustment Act, 1929, to Lot 99N3, Parish of Onewhero, and other subdivisions of Native land or land owned by Natives in the Waikato-Maniapoto Native Land Court District: And whereas the Native Minister has now decided that the Native land or land owned by Natives set out in the Schedule hereto shall be subject to the provisions of subsection (3) of the said section 23, and shall be included in and form part of the Onewhero Development Scheme: Notice of the Native Minister's intention is hereby given and published in accordance with the said subsection (3), which provides that no owner shall, except with the consent of the Native Minister, be entitled to exercise any rights of ownership in connection with the land affected so as to interfere with or obstruct the carrying-out of any works undertaken or to be undertaken under the said subsection (3).

WHEREAS notice was published in the Gazette of the 18th June, 1931, that the Native Minister has decided to apply the provisions of subsection (3) of section 23 of the Native Land Amendment and Native Land Claims Adjustment Act, 1929, to Tapatu-Waitangirua 2B and other blocks of Native land or land owned by Natives in the Tairawhiti Native Land Court District: And whereas the Native Minister has now decided that the Native land or land owned by Natives set out in the Schedule hereto shall be subject to the provisions of subsection (3) of the said section 23, and shall be included in and form part of the Waiapu-Matakaoa Development Scheme: Notice of the Native Minister's intention is hereby given and published in accordance with the said subsection (3) which provides that no owner shall, except with the consent of the Native Minister, be entitled to exercise any rights of ownership in connection with the land affected so as to interfere with or obstruct the carrying-out of any works undertaken or to be undertaken under the said subsection (3).

Notice under the Shops and Offices Act, 1921-22, and its Amendment, fixing the Closing-hours of Tobacconists' Shops within the Combined District of Cambridge and Leamington.

WHEREAS a requisition in writing has been forwarded to me from the occupiers of tobacconists' shops within the Combined District of Cambridge and Leamington, comprising the Borough of Cambridge and the Town District of Leamington, pursuant to section 32 of the Shops and Offices Act, 1921-22:

And whereas I, Adam Hamilton, Minister of Labour, am satisfied that the signatures to such requisition represent a majority of the occupiers of all the said shops within the said combined district:

Now, therefore, in pursuance of the said section 32, I do hereby direct, that on and after the 26th day of October, 1931, all the said shops within the said combined district shall be closed in the evening of working-days as follows: On Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays at 6 p.m., with the following exception—On the working-day immediately preceding Christmas Day and on the working-day immediately preceding New Year’s Day there shall be no fixed closing-hour.

Notice under the Shops and Offices Act, 1921-22, and its Amendment, prohibiting the Sale within the Borough of Cambridge of certain Goods comprised in the Trade of a Tobacconist.

WHEREAS a petition in writing, signed by a majority of the occupiers of all the tobacconists' shops within the Borough of Cambridge, has been forwarded to me, desiring that the sale of certain goods comprised in the trade of a tobacconist—namely, cigars, cigarettes, tobacco, and smoking requisites—be prohibited during such time as the said shops are required to be closed in pursuance of the Shops and Offices Act, 1921-22:

And whereas I, Adam Hamilton, Minister of Labour, am satisfied that the sale of the said goods is comprised in the said trade within the said borough, and that the signatures to such petition represent a majority of the occupiers of all the said shops within the said borough:

Now, therefore, in pursuance of section 33 of the said Act, I do hereby direct that on and after the 26th day of October, 1931, the sale of the said goods within the said borough shall be and is hereby prohibited as follows: On Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays after the hour of 6 p.m.,
