Mainly English grass on flats, which can be improved by draining and stumping. Altitude ranges from about 400 ft. to 800 ft. Well watered by the Tokitoki Stream, springs, and the Manawatu River. Soil on flats is of good quality, alluvial in origin; that on the hills is of poorer nature overlying sandstone and papa rock formation. Suitable for mixed farming.

Section 13, Block VIII: Area, 454 acres. Capital value, £3,700. Deposit on deferred payments, £200; half-yearly instalment on deferred payments, £113 15s. Renewable lease: Half-yearly rent, £92 10s.

Improvements included in the capital value of the section consist of boundary and subdivisional fencing, valued at £142.

Situated from Dannevirke five miles and a half by good metalled road. Comprises about 20 acres flat; balance easy hill country. About 250 acres ploughable. Pasture mostly native, with a good deal of brown top. Mostly manuka country originally. At present there are about 73 acres in scrub, and 8 acres in light bush. Altitude ranges from about 400 ft. to 960 ft. Fairly well watered by the Ongaha and Tokitoki Streams and Manawatu River. Soil of fair quality overlying sandstone and papa rock formation. Suitable for sheep and cattle grazing.

Warrant authorizing the Rangitikei County Council to construct a new Bridge over the Hautapu River on the Bulls–Taumarunui Main Highway (together with Approaches thereto), and apportioning the Cost.


BLEDISLOE, Governor-General.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in me by section one hundred and thirty-five of the Public Works Act, 1928, and of all other powers and authorities in anywise enabling me in this behalf, I, Charles, Baron Bledisloe, Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby authorize the Rangitikei County Council to construct the bridge (together with approaches thereto) described in the Schedule hereto; and I do also declare that the cost thereof, less such contribution (if any) as may be made thereto by the Government of New Zealand or the Main Highways Board, shall be borne by the Rangitikei County Council and the Taihape Borough Council in the following proportions—viz., the Rangitikei County Council shall pay fifty per centum and the Taihape Borough Council shall pay fifty per centum of such cost respectively; and I do further direct that any contribution hereby required to be made as aforesaid by the Taihape Borough Council shall be paid from time to time, in the proportion hereinbefore prescribed, out of the funds of the said Council within a period of one month after demand in writing made by or on behalf of the Rangitikei County Council, and all such payments shall be made from time to time to the Clerk of the Rangitikei County Council for and on behalf of the said Council.


SCHEDULE.

THAT bridge in the Wellington Land District over the Hautapu River, at Taihape, on the Bulls–Taumarunui Main Highway (together with approaches thereto). As the site of the said bridge and approaches is more particularly delineated on the plan marked P.W.D. 80191, deposited in the office of the Minister of Public Works at Wellington.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General, this 13th day of January, 1931.

Special Provision with respect to Deer in Portion of Westland Acclimatization District.


BLEDISLOE, Governor-General.

IN pursuance of the powers vested in me by the Animals Protection and Game Act, 1921–22 (hereinafter referred to as “the said Act”), I, Charles, Baron Bledisloe, Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby declare that deer shall be deemed to be included in the Second Schedule of the Animals Protection and Game Act, 1921–22, with respect to the area described in the Schedule hereto.

And I do hereby further declare that this Warrant shall come into force on the second day of March, one thousand nine hundred and thirty-one, and shall expire on the thirtieth day of April, one thousand nine hundred and thirty-one, and that from and after the last-mentioned date deer shall cease to be included in the Second Schedule of the said Act with respect to such area.


SCHEDULE.

ALL that area comprised in the Westland Acclimatization District known as the Haast, Wills, and Landsborough Valleys, and the Okuru Block, South Westland.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General, this 7th day of January, 1931.
