ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government Buildings at Wellington, this 13th day of January, 1931.

Present:

THE HONOURABLE E. A. RANSOM, PRESIDING IN COUNCIL.

WHEREAS the land described in the Schedule hereto has been duly set apart for a roadman’s cottage-site and public pound: And whereas, in the opinion of the Governor-General, it is expedient to vest the said reserve in the Chairman, Councillors, and Inhabitants of the County of Waitomo :

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, and in exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon him by section nine of the Public Reserves, Domains, and National Parks Act, 1928, doth hereby declare that, from and after the day of the date hereof, the reserve described in the Schedule hereto shall become vested in the Chairman, Councillors, and Inhabitants of the County of Waitomo, in trust, for a roadman’s cottage-site and public pound.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by section three of the Masseurs Registration Act, 1920, I, Charles, Baron Bledisloe, Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby appoint

Ronald Thomas McLean

to be a member of the Masseurs Registration Board under the aforesaid Act.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General, this 14th day of January, 1931.

Opening Lands in the Hawke’s Bay Land District for Sale or Selection.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the Land Act, 1924, and the amendments thereof, I, Charles, Baron Bledisloe, Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, having received the report of the Under-Secretary in this behalf, as provided by section one hundred and seventy-six of the said Act, do hereby declare that the lands described in the Schedule hereto shall be open for sale or selection on Monday, the second day of March, one thousand nine hundred and thirty-one; and also that the lands mentioned in the said Schedule may, at the option of the applicant, be purchased for cash or on deferred payments, or be selected on renewable lease; and I do hereby also fix the prices at which the said lands shall be sold, occupied, or leased as those mentioned in the said Schedule hereto, and do declare that the said lands shall be sold, occupied, or leased under and subject to the provisions of the Land Act, 1924, and the amendments thereof.


SCHEDULE.

HAWKE’S BAY LAND DISTRICT.—FIRST-CLASS LAND.

Danneverke County.—Tahoraite Survey District.

SECTION 6, Block VIII: Area, 272 acres. Capital value, £3,460. Deposit on deferred payments, £160; half-yearly instalments on deferred payments, £107 5s. Renewable lease: Half-yearly rent, £86 10s.

Improvements included in the capital value of the section consist of boundary and subdivisional fencing, valued at £120.

Situated from Danneverke about eight miles and a half by good metalled road, and one mile and a quarter by new formed road. Comprises about 117 acres of flat on river terrace; balance easy hill country. About 95 acres of higher level flat have been ploughed and cropped. Fair agricultural land, but inclined to be stony in patches. Twenty-two acres on lower level terrace are of better quality. The hill portion comprises about 50 acres which was originally bush, the balance of about 105 acres have been scrub country. Mainly native pasture and brown top on hills; a certain amount of English grass on the old bush land, and on the flats. Poorly watered, except the portion fronting the Manawatu River. Altitude ranges from about 450 ft. to 900 ft. Soil on flats is alluvial, overlying shingle; that on the hills is of fair quality overlying sandstone and papa formation. Suitable for mixed farming.

Section 7, Block VIII: Area, 650 acres. Capital value, £3,750. Deposit on deferred payments, £200; half-yearly instalment on deferred payments, £115 7s. 6d. Renewable lease: Half-yearly rent, £93 15s.

Improvements included in the capital value of the section consist of boundary and subdivisional fencing, valued at £253. The improvements which are not included in the capital value, but which have to be paid for separately in cash, comprise two small whares, valued at £10.

Situated six miles from Danneverke by formed metalled road. Comprises about 25 acres flat; balance easy hill country. About 275 acres ploughable. Pasture consists of danthonia and brown top. Approximately 100 acres in manuka scrub. Altitude from about 500 ft. to 930 ft. Poorly watered by streams, but sufficient water for grazing purposes. Quality of the soil is poor to fair; shingle and clay subsoil overlying sandstone and papa rock formation. Suitable for sheep and cattle grazing.

Section 8, Block VIII: Area, 156 acres 2 roods. Capital value, £2,800. Deposit on deferred payments, £150; half-yearly instalment on deferred payments, £86 2s. 6d. Renewable lease: Half-yearly rent, £70.

Improvements included in the capital value of the section consist of boundary and subdivisional fencing, valued at £63.

Situated from Danneverke eight miles and a half by good metalled road, and half mile new formed road. Comprises about 70 acres of good river-terrace land; balance easy hill country. Practically all ploughable. The whole section was originally in heavy bush. Good English pasture on flats. Mostly danthonia and brown top on hill. Altitude from about 500 ft. to 750 ft. Watered by Manawatu River. Soil of good quality, that on the flats being alluvial and that on the hills overlies papa formation. Suitable for dairy farming.

Section 9, Block VIII: Area, 266 acres. Capital value, £3,550. Deposit on deferred payments, £200; half-yearly instalment on deferred payments, £108 17s. 6d. Renewable lease: Half-yearly rent, £88 15s.

Improvements included in the capital value of the section consist of boundary and subdivisional fencing, valued at £159.

Situated eight miles and a half from Danneverke by good metalled road. Comprises about 20 acres flat; balance easy hill country. There are about 8 acres of light bush, which should prove valuable for shelter purposes. Pasture consists mostly of native grass on hill portion. Some English grass on flat along Manawatu River. Altitude from about 500 ft. to 880 ft. Poorly watered, except as regards the portion along the Manawatu River. Soil of fair quality, overlying papa formation on the hills; good alluvial soil on flat near Manawatu River. Suitable for mixed farming.

Section 12, Block VIII: Area, 289 acres. Capital value, £3,850. Deposit on deferred payments, £200; half-yearly instalments on deferred payments, £118 12s. 6d. Renewable lease: Half-yearly rent, £96 5s.

Improvements included in the capital value of the section consist of boundary and subdivisional fencing, valued at £190. The improvements which are not included in the capital value, but which have to be paid for separately in cash, comprise a three-roomed dwellinghouse and a whare, valued at £110.

Situated from Danneverke eight miles and a half by good metalled road, and two miles and a quarter by new formed road. Comprises about 170 acres of undulating land and 119 acres of flat on river terraces; about 200 acres ploughable. Pasture on hill portion consists of brown top and danthonia.
