And whereas in respect of the said sum of one thousand seven hundred pounds (£1,700) there has been raised and borrowed for the purposes aforesaid the sum of one thousand six hundred pounds (£1,600):
And whereas the undertaking in respect of which the said loan was authorized has been completed, and it has not been found necessary to borrow the whole of the amount so authorized:
And whereas the Minister of Finance has duly notified the Nelson City Council in writing of his intention to cancel the loan authority in so far as it has not been exercised:
Now, therefore, in exercise of the powers in that behalf conferred upon me by section 118 of the Local Bodies' Loans Act, 1926, and of all other powers me in this behalf enabling, I, George William Forbes, Minister of Finance, do hereby cancel the authority of the Nelson City Council to borrow, under the loan authority hereinbefore referred to, the sum of one hundred pounds (£100), being the amount in respect of which the said loan authority has not been exercised: Provided always that this cancellation is without prejudice to the validity in all respects of the loan of one thousand six hundred pounds (£1,600) already borrowed pursuant to the said loan authority.

Notice of making and levying General Rates : Kaitaia Drainage Area.
I, ETHELBERT ALFRED RANSOM, Minister of Lands, in the exercise of the powers conferred upon me by the Swamp Drainage Act, 1915, and its amendments, do hereby make and levy on the unimproved value of all land within the Kaitaia Town District Subdivision of the Kaitaia Drainage Area, constituted under the said Act, a general rate, described in the First Schedule hereto, and on the unimproved value of all land in the subdivision of the Kaitaia Drainage Area outside the Kaitaia Town District the general rates described in the Second Schedule hereto, such respective rates being for the purpose of meeting maintenance costs for the period from the 1st April, 1931, to the 31st March, 1932.
The said rates, less a subsidy of sixteen shillings (16s.) for one pound (£1), (together with the annually recurring special rates already made and levied) will be payable in one sum on the 30th August, 1931, to the Collector of Rates, at the Chief Drainage Engineer's Office, 5 Law Court Buildings, High Street, Auckland, at which office the rate-book will be open for inspection. A copy of the rate-book will be available for inspection at the office of the Chief Drainage Engineer at Kaitaia.
FIRST SCHEDULE.
Town SUBDIVISION.
On the unimproved value of all land within the Kaitaia Town District : Seventy-two one-hundredths of a penny (0·72d.) in the pound.
SECOND SCHEDULE.
RURAL SUBDIVISION.
Class A: On the unimproved value of all land classified as Class A by the persons appointed to classify lands under section 3 of the Swamp Drainage Amendment Act, 1928 : Eight pence and thirty-nine one-hundredths of a penny (8·39d.) in the pound.
Class B: On the unimproved value of all land so classified as Class B: Two pence and ninety-four one-hundredths of a penny (2·94d.) in the pound.
Class C : On the unimproved value of all land so classified as Class C: One penny and twenty-six one-hundredths of a penny (1·26d.) in the pound.

Alteration of Boundaries of Kaingaroa Plantation Fire District.
WHEREAS by a notice published in the Gazette on the 9th day of November, 1922, at page 2960 (hereinafter referred to as “the said notice”), a certain area in the Auckland Land District, Rotorua, Taupo, and Whakatane Counties, more particularly delineated on Forest Atlases Nos. 46 and 47 (the said notice referred to such land being in Paeroa, Kaingaroa, Galatea, Takapau, Waeo, and Ahikereru Survey Districts), was declared to be a fire district; and is now known as Kaingaroa Plantation Fire District:
And whereas by a notice published in the Gazette of the 23rd day of December, 1930, at page 3907, the boundaries of the said fire district were extended by including therein the land described in the First Schedule thereto:
And whereas it is expedient to extend again the boundaries of the said fire district by including therein the land described in the First Schedule hereto:
Now, therefore, in pursuance of section 27 of the Forests Act, 1921–22, and on the recommendation of the Director of Forestry and the Land Board of the Auckland Land District, I do hereby declare that the land described in the First Schedule hereto shall, as on and from the date hereof, be deemed to be added to and form part of the Kaingaroa Plantation Fire District constituted by the said notice, and that the period specified in the said notice as a closed season shall apply with respect to the land described in the said First Schedule hereto; and with the like power and authority, do declare that the fire district comprising together the area first hereinbefore referred to and the land described in the said First Schedule hereto (the boundaries of which fire district are set out in the Second Schedule hereto) shall be known as Kaingaroa Plantation Fire District.
FIRST SCHEDULE.
AUCKLAND LAND DISTRICT.—ROTORUA FOREST-CONSERVATION REGION.
Area added to Kaingaroa Plantation Fire District.
ALL that area in the Auckland Land District, containing approximately 9,700 acres, situated in Blocks XI, XII, XV, and XVI, Tatua Survey District, and Blocks III, IV, and VII, Tauhara Survey District, and bounded generally as follows: Commencing at the junction of the Waikato River with the north-western boundary of Kaingaroa No. 2 West No. 1; thence proceeding in a south-westerly direction along the north-western boundaries of Kaingaroa No. 2 West Nos. 1 and 2; thence along a straight line drawn from the western corner of Kaingaroa No. 2 West No. 2 through the eastern corner of Section 1, Block III, Tauhara Survey District, to the Napier-Taupo Road; thence in a northerly direction along the northern side of the Napier-Taupo Road and another public road to the north-eastern boundary of Section 1 aforesaid; thence along the north-eastern boundary of the said Section 1 to its junction with the southern boundary of S.G. Run No. 74; thence in a north-easterly direction along a straight line drawn parallel to the north-western boundary of Kaingaroa No. 2 West No. 2 and part of the north-eastern boundary of Kaingaroa No. 2 West No. 1 to right bank of the Waikato River; and thence in an easterly direction along the right bank of the Waikato River to the point of commencement. As the same is more particularly delineated on plan No. 47/32, deposited in the Head Office of the State Forest Service at Wellington, and thereon bordered yellow.

Kaingaroa Plantation Fire District.
ALL that area in the Auckland Land District, containing approximately 544,700 acres, situated in Block XV, Tarawera, Blocks, II, III, IV, VI, VII, VIII, X, XI, XII, XIII, XIV, XV, and XVI, Paeroa, Blocks I, II, III, IV, V, VI, VII, VIII, IX, X, XI, XII, XIII, XIV, XV, and XVI, Kaingaroa, Blocks I, II, III, IV, V, VI, VII, VIII, IX, X, XI, XII, XIII, XIV, XV, and XVI, Galatea, Blocks J, II, III, IV, V, VI, VII, VIII, IX, X, XI, XII, XIII, XIV, XV, and XVI, Takapau, Blocks I, II, III, IV, V, VI, VII, VIII, IX, X, XI, XIII, XIV, and XV, Waeo, Blocks XI, XII, XV, and XVI, Tatua, Blocks III, IV, VII, VIII, and XII, Tauhara, Blocks I, II, III, IV, V, VI, VII, VIII, IX, X, XI, XII, XIII, XIV, XV, and XVI, Otukotara, Blocks I, II, III, V, VI, VII, IX, X, XI, XII, III, and XIV, Heruiwi, Block I, Ahikereru, Blocks I, II, III, IV, and VII, Maruanui, and Block I, Runanga Survey Districts, and bounded generally as follows: Commencing at the intersection of the left bank of the Rangitaiki River with the northern boundary of Block II, Galatea Survey District; thence proceeding generally southward along the left banks of the Rangitaiki and Whirinaki Rivers to a point on the left bank of the last-named river, situated 40 chains eastward of the right bank of the Rangitaiki River; thence generally southward along a line parallel to and situated 40 chains to the eastward of the right banks of the Rangitaiki and Whaeo Rivers to the Mangaretu Stream; thence along the eastern boundary of the northern portion of the Heruiwi No. 4a and the eastern and south-eastern boundaries of Provisional State Forest No. 59 (Gazette, 1920, page 2119); thence southward and westward along the eastern and southern boundaries of Pukahunui No. 2 to an angle in the boundary about 80 chains north-west of a road; thence westward along a straight line for a distance of about 90 chains to Trig.
