Lieutenant B. S. H. Ward, 5th C Battalion, is transferred to
the Reserve of Officers, Class I (b), R.D. 10. Dated 30th
July, 1931.
The Nelson, Marlborough, and West Coast Regiment.
Lieutenant A. Macdonald, M.C., from the Wellington Regi-
ment, to be Lieutenant, with seniority as from the 23rd
September, 1925, and is posted to the Regimental Super-
numerary List. Dated 24th July, 1931.
2nd Lieutenant I. A. Bird, from the Wellington West Coast
Regiment, to be 2nd Lieutenant, with seniority as from the
18th September, 1928, and is posted to the Regimental
Supernumerary List. Dated 24th July, 1931.
The Otago Regiment.
Major M. F. Woodward, from the Hawke's Bay Regiment, to
be Major, with seniority as from the 18th February, 1930,
and is posted to the 3rd C Battalion. Dated 30th July,
1931.
Malcolm Lionel Robert Morley to be 2nd Lieutenant, super-
numerary to the establishment, and is seconded for duty
with the Otago University Medical Company, N.Z. Medical
Corps. Dated 16th March, 1930.

Squadron-Leader M. C. McGregor, D.F.C., No. 2 (Bomber)
Squadron, is transferred to the Reserve of Officers,

Captain J. H. Will, M.B., ceases to be attached to the 1st
Battalion, The Waikato Regiment, and is posted to the
Northern Depot, N.Z. Medical Corps. Dated 1st May,

Dated 23rd June, 1931.

H IS Excellency the Governor-General has been pleased
to approve of the appointments, promotions, transfers,
resignations, and retirements of the undermentioned officers
of the N.Z. Military Forces.
REGIMENT OF N.Z. ARTILLERY.
Captain G. R. Cowie, from the Reserve of Officers, to be
Captain, with seniority as from the 25th April, 1927, and
is posted to the 17th Medium Battery. Dated 24th July,
1931.
CORPS OF N.Z. ENGINEERS.
Lieutenant K. Rix-Trott, 2nd Field Company, is transferred
to the Reserve of Officers, Class I (b), R.D. 5. Dated 8th
August, 1931.
2nd Lieutenant W. Bryden ceases to be posted to the 3rd
Field Company, and is attached to the 3rd C Battalion,
The Canterbury Regiment. Dated 10th August, 1931.
N.Z. INFANTRY.

Lieutenant J. Dugdale, from the Canterbury Regiment, to
be Lieutenant, with seniority as from the 21st December,
1929, and is posted to the 1st C Battalion. Dated 6th
August, 1931.
The Canterbury Regiment.
Lieutenant J. Dugdale, 3rd C Battalion, is transferred to
the Wellington Regiment. Dated 6th August, 1931.
2nd Lieutenant W. Bryden, Corps of N.Z. Engineers, is
attached to the 3rd C Battalion, under the provisions of
para. 141, General Regulations, 1927. Dated 10th August,
1931.

The seniority of Flying Officer E. G. Olson, No. 4 (Army
Co-operation) Squadron, is antedated to 16th November,
1927.
Robert Matheson to be Flying Officer, with seniority as from
the 24th December, 1930, and is posted to No. 4 (Army
Co-operation) Squadron. Dated 1st August, 1931.
N.Z. MEDICAL CORPS.
Captain W. H. Johnston, M.B., ceases to be attached to the
Manawatu Mounted Rifles, and is posted to the Retired
List, with permission to retain his rank and wear the
prescribed uniform. Dated 4th August, 1931.
Captain H. C. P. Bennett, M.B., ceases to be attached to the
18th Medium Battery, Regiment of N.Z. Artillery, and is
transferred to the Reserve of Officers. Dated 5th August,
1931.
RESERVE OF OFFICERS.

Captain R. P. S. Kelman, M.B., resigns his commission.

Under the Finance Act, 1931.
PURSUANT to the provisions of paragraph (k) of sub-
section (1) of section 3 of the Finance Act, 1931, I
hereby notify and direct that the said Act shall be applied
to every person to whom a payment is made under the
authority of section 36 of the Finance Act, 1925.

IN pursuance of the powers conferred upon me by the Post
and Telegraph Act, 1928 (hereinafter termed "the said
Act"), and by the regulations made on the 12th May, 1914,
and published in the New Zealand Gazette of the 21st May,
1914, the following officers, at the addresses set against their
names, are hereby appointed Transmitting and Receiving
Officers for the purpose of dealing with all notices by telegraph
sent under the said Act or regulations, and of signing such
certificates in relation to the service of any such notices as
are required or authorized to be signed or given under the said
Act or the regulations aforesaid.
