Declaring Ferrets, Stoats, and Weasels to be Natural Enemies of the Rabbit in Certain Parts of New Zealand.—(Notice No. Ag. 2980.)

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House at Wellington, this 6th day of July, 1931.
Present:
HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL.
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon him by section ninety-five of the Rabbit Nuisance Act, 1928, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby revoke the Orders in Council specified in the First Schedule hereto, and doth hereby declare ferrets, stoats, and weasels to be natural enemies of the rabbit in all parts of New Zealand other than such areas as are described in the Second Schedule hereto, and doth further declare that such revocation shall take effect and the Order in Council hereby made shall come into force on the date of the publication thereof in the Gazette.

At the Government House at Wellington, this 6th day of July, 1931.

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL.
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred upon him by the Education Act, and of all other powers enabling him in this behalf, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby amend the regulations relating to examinations in technology made by Order in Council dated the thirtieth November, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-eight, and amended by Order in Council dated the thirteenth May, one thousand nine hundred and thirty, in the manner set forth in the Schedule hereto; and with the like advice and consent doth prescribe that this Order shall come into force on the date of publication thereof in the New Zealand Gazette.
SCHEDULE.
- By adding the following to Schedule I—Syllabuses of Examination :—
MOTOR MECHANICS’ WORK.
Minor Course.
NOTES.—(1) In all stages of the examinations candidates will be required to show a reasonable knowledge of drawing, elementary mechanics, practical mathematics, and the more elementary principles of magnetism and electricity so far as applications of these subjects to the topics included in the syllabuses of written and practical work are concerned.
(2) In each stage questions may be set on the subjects of the previous stage or stages, if any.
- PRELIMINARY EXAMINATION SYLLABUS.
(A) Theory.
The written examination will include questions on the following subjects :—
(1) The general principles of lubrication.
(2) Bearings, explanation of their functioning.
(3) Two and four cycle engines; and the operation thereof.
(4) Engine construction; connecting rods, water-jackets, &c.
(5) Valves; Mushroom and sleeve; causes of burning and pitting; valve timing.
