The Rural Intermediate Credit Act, 1927.
APPOINTMENT OF MEMBER OF DISTRICT RURAL INTERMEDIATE CREDIT BOARD.
IT is hereby notified for public information that the Rural Intermediate Credit Board, acting in pursuance and exercise of the authority conferred upon it by section 14 of the Rural Intermediate Credit Act, 1927, and all other powers and authorities it in that behalf enabling, has appointed William Alexander Gordon,
District Government Valuer, Hamilton, to be a member of the Waikato District Rural Intermediate Credit Board in succession to George William Hyde, late District Government Valuer, Hamilton, who has retired.

Result of Poll for Proposed Loan.

THE following notice, received from the Chairman, Wanganui Harbour Board, is published in accordance with the provisions of the Local Bodies' Loans Act, 1926.

WANGANUI HARBOUR BOARD.
Pursuant to the provisions of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926, I hereby give notice that at a poll of the ratepayers of the Wanganui Harbour District taken on the 6th day of May, 1931, upon the undermentioned proposals, the votes recorded respectively for and against each proposal were as follows:
£52,000 Loan for the purchase of a dredge—
For the proposal, 634; against the proposal, 2,344;
informal, 318.
£95,000 Loan for extending the moles—
For the proposal, 668; against the proposal, 2,300;
informal, 340.
I therefore declare both the said proposals to be rejected.

WANGANUI HARBOUR BOARD.
Pursuant to the provisions of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926, I hereby give notice that at a poll of the ratepayers of the Wanganui Harbour District taken on the 6th day of May, 1931, on the proposal of the Wanganui Harbour Board to borrow the sum of forty thousand pounds (£40,000) for the construction of certain harbour-works at the Port of Wanganui, as set out in the Schedule to the Wanganui Harbour District and Empowering Amendment Act, 1929, being works authorized by and defined in section 3 of the said Act—viz., raising moles (£12,000), Admiralty claim, Kaione (£15,000), plant and equipment (£10,000), proportion of engineering promotion flotation and contingencies (£3,000)—the number of voted recorded respectively for and against the proposal were as follows: for the proposal, 1,899 ; against the proposal, 1,211 ; informal, 242.
I therefore declare the said proposal to be carried.

WHEREAS a poll to determine the statutory closing-day in the Borough of Lawrence was duly taken under the authority of section 20 of the Shops and Offices Act, 1921–22, on the 6th day of May, 1931 :
And whereas the Town Clerk of the Borough of Lawrence has notified me that the majority of the votes given at such poll were in favour of the appointment of Wednesday as the statutory closing-day in the said borough:
Now, therefore, I, Sydney George Smith, Minister of Labour, in pursuance of section 20 of the Shops and Offices Act, 1921–22, do hereby appoint Wednesday as the statutory closing-day in the said borough as from the 8th day of June, 1931.

Now, therefore, I, Sydney George Smith, Minister of Labour, in pursuance of section 20 of the Shops and Offices Act, 1921–22, do hereby appoint Thursday as the statutory closing-day in the said borough as from the 8th day of June, 1931.

And whereas the Town Clerk of the City of Invercargill has notified me that the majority of the votes given at such poll were in favour of the appointment of Saturday as the statutory closing-day in the said combined district:
Now, therefore, I, Sydney George Smith, Minister of Labour, in pursuance of section 20 of the Shops and Offices Act, 1921–22, do hereby appoint Saturday as the statutory closing-day in the said combined district as from the 8th day of June, 1931.
