Notice under the Shops and Offices Act, 1921-22, and its Amendment, fixing the Closing-hours of Tobacconists' Shops within the Borough of Shannon.
WHEREAS a requisition in writing has been forwarded to me from the occupiers of tobacconists' shops within the Borough of Shannon, pursuant to section 32 of the Shops and Offices Act, 1921-22:
And whereas I, Sydney George Smith, Minister of Labour, am satisfied that the signatures to such requisition represent a majority of the occupiers of all the said shops within the said borough:
Now, therefore, in pursuance of the said section 32, I do hereby direct that on and after the 2nd day of February, 1931, all the said shops within the said borough shall be closed in the evening of working-days as follows: On Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays at 8 p.m., and on Saturdays at 9 p.m., with the following exception--should the occupier of any shop affected by this notice observe, pursuant to section 14 (2) of the Shops and Offices Act, 1921-22, Saturday as the statutory closing-day, then and in such case the closing-hour for such shop shall be 8 p.m. on Wednesdays and 9 p.m. on Fridays.

Notice under the Shops and Offices Act, 1921-22, and its Amendment, prohibiting the Sale within the Borough of Shannon of certain Goods comprised in the Trade of a Tobacconist.
WHEREAS a petition in writing, signed by a majority of the occupiers of all the tobacconists' shops within the Borough of Shannon, has been forwarded to me desiring that the sale of certain goods comprised in the trade of a tobacconist--namely, tobacco, cigars, cigarettes, pipes, and cigarette papers--be prohibited during such time as the said shops are required to be closed in pursuance of the Shops and Offices Act, 1921-22:
And whereas I, Sydney George Smith, Minister of Labour, am satisfied that the sale of the said goods is comprised in the said trade within the said borough, and that the signatures to such petition represent a majority of the occupiers of all the said shops within the said borough:
Now, therefore, in pursuance of section 33 of the said Act, I do hereby direct that on and after the 2nd day of February, 1931, the sale of the said goods within the said borough shall be and is hereby prohibited as follows : On Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays after the hour of 8 p.m., and on Saturdays after the hour of 9 p.m., with the following exception--where a shop is closed for the statutory half-holiday on Saturday, then and in such case the sale of the said goods is prohibited after the hours of 8 p.m. on Wednesdays and 9 p.m. on Fridays.

Applying the Provisions of Section 119 of the Public Works Act, 1928, to a Portion of the Ellerslie-Howick Main Highway.
WHEREAS it is provided by section seven of the Main Highways Amendment Act, 1925, that the Minister of Public Works may, on the recommendation of the Main Highways Board (hereinafter referred to as "the Board"), by notice in the Gazette, declare that the provisions of section one hundred and nineteen of the Public Works Act, 1928, in so far as it provides for the apportionment of the cost of maintenance, repair, construction, or reconstruction of any part of a main highway, shall apply with respect to the apportionment of the cost of maintenance, repair, construction, or reconstruction of any part of a main highway in so far as such cost is not provided for out of the Main Highways Account:
And whereas on the 17th December, 1930, the Board resolved as follows: "That, in accordance with the Main Highways Amendment Act, 1925, the Hon. Minister of Public Works be recommended to apply the provisions of section one hundred and nineteen of the Public Works Act to that portion of the Ellerslie-Howick Main Highway from its junction with Jellicoe Road to the northern end of the Tamaki Bridge":
Now, therefore, I, William Burgoyne Taverner, Minister of Public Works, in pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred by the said section seven, and of every other power in anywise enabling me in this behalf, do hereby declare that the provisions of section one hundred and nineteen of the Public Works Act, 1928, in so far as they provide for the apportionment of the cost of maintenance, repair, construction, or reconstruction shall apply with respect to the apportionment of the cost of maintenance, repair, construction, or reconstruction of that portion of the Ellerslie-Howick Main Highway described in the foregoing resolution.
