Land in Taranaki Land District for Selection on Renewable Lease.

District Lands and Survey Office,

New Plymouth, 12th January, 1931.

NOTICE is hereby given that the undermentioned section is open for selection on renewable lease under the Land Act, 1924; and applications will be received at the District Lands and Survey Office, New Plymouth, up to 4 o'clock p.m. on Monday, 23rd February, 1931.

Applicants should appear personally before the Land Board for examination at the District Lands and Survey Office, New Plymouth, on Wednesday, 25th February, 1931, at 10 o'clock a.m.; but if any applicant is unable to attend he may be examined by any other Land Board or by any Commissioner of Crown Lands.

The ballot will be held immediately upon conclusion of the examination of applicants.

Preference at the ballot will be given to landless applicants who have one or more children dependent on them; to landless applicants who, within two years immediately preceding date of ballot, have applied for land at least twice unsuccessfully; to applicants who have served beyond New Zealand as members of the Expeditionary Force; to persons engaged on military service beyond New Zealand in connection with the late war, if such persons immediately prior to the war were bona fide residents of New Zealand; to applicants who, while domiciled in New Zealand, have served beyond New Zealand as members of any of His Majesty's Forces in connection with any war other than the war with Germany; and to landless applicants in respect of whom the Board, after taking into consideration the experience and skill of the applicants in farming operations, the proximity of their homes to the lands the subject-matter of the ballot, and any other relevant considerations, is of opinion that they should be entitled to preference equally with applicants of any of the hereinbefore specified classes.

TARANAKI LAND DISTRICT.—SECOND-CLASS LAND.
Ohura County.—Ohura Survey District.

(Exempt from payment of rent for three years.)

SECTION 6, Block VII: Area, 828 acres 3 roods 30 perches. Capital value, £635. Half-yearly rent, £12 14s.

After payment of first half-year's rent and broken-period rent (if any) an exemption from payment of rent for a period of three years will be granted, provided improvements to value of £63 10s. are effected annually during the exemption period.

Weighted with £1,780, for improvements comprising house, wool-shed, shed, about 540 chains fencing, approximately 250 acres felled, stumped, ploughed, and grassed, and approximately 278 acres in worn-out pasture. This amount may be paid in cash or, after payment of a deposit of £100, the balance (£1,680) may be secured by way of first mortgage to the Superintendent, State Advances Department, for a term of thirty years, with interest at the rate of 6 per cent. per annum. A remission of interest under the mortgage for a period of one year will be allowed provided additional improvements equivalent to the amount of interest remitted are effected during this period.

This property comprises 250 acres (approximately) in fair pasture, stumped and ploughed, 278 acres (approximately) in worn-out pasture, and 300 acres in bush and tea-tree. The section is suitable for dairying, cropping, and grassing, and approximately 350 acres is ploughable.

Situated about three miles from Toi Toi Railway-station, about two miles from Turoto School, and about six miles from Matiere Dairy Factory.

Estimated carrying-capacity once pastures reconditioned and place put in order: 35 dairy cows, 300 mixed sheep, and 20 head mixed cattle.
