PURSUANT to section 307 of the Companies Act, 1908, notice is hereby given that THE PROGRESS MINES OF NEW ZEALAND, LIMITED, an English mining company duly incorporated, and having its registered office in Bridge Street, Reefton, in the Dominion of New Zealand, and carrying on business near Reefton, will voluntarily cease to carry on business in New Zealand after the expiration of three months from the 1st day of May, 1931.

A PRIVATE BILL INTITULED THE DOMINION LIFE ASSURANCE OFFICE OF NEW ZEALAND, LIMITED, ACT, 1931.
NOTICE is hereby given that application is intended to be made to the General Assembly of New Zealand at the ensuing session by THE DOMINION LIFE ASSURANCE OFFICE OF NEW ZEALAND, LIMITED, for leave to introduce a Private Bill, the short title of which is as above.
The object of the Bill is to make the said company subject to the provisions of the Companies Act, 1908, as a limited liability company as if it were registered with limited liability thereunder.
Printed copies of the proposed Bill will be deposited in the Private Bill Office, Parliament Buildings, Wellington, not later than fourteen days after the commencement of the session.

MANAWATU DRAINAGE BOARD.
RESOLUTION MAKING AND LEVYING SPECIAL RATES.
Relief of Unemployment Loan, £500, 1931.
IN pursuance and in exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by the Local Authorities Empowering (Relief of Unemployment) Act, 1926, the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926, and the Land Drainage Act, 1908, and all other powers (if any) it thereunto enabling, the Manawatu Drainage Board hereby resolves as follows :—
That, for the purpose of providing for the payment of interest, sinking fund, and other charges on the “Relief of Unemployment Loan of £500, 1931,” authorized to be raised by the Manawatu Drainage Board under the above-mentioned Acts for the purpose of finding work for the unemployed and to improve the drainage of the Taonui Basin, mainly the enlarging of Burke’s and Main Drains, the said Board makes and levies the special differential rates on the rateable value (on the basis of the unimproved value) of all rateable property in the whole of the Manawatu Drainage District—
On lands classified “A” a special rate of forty-five four-thousandths (45/4,000ths) of a penny in the pound sterling ;
On lands classified “B” a special rate of twenty-seven four-thousandths (27/4,000ths) of a penny in the pound sterling ;
On lands classified “C” a special rate of eighteen four-thousandths (18/4,000ths) of a penny in the pound sterling ;
and that such special differential rates shall be annually recurring rates during the currency of such loan, and be payable yearly on the first day of February in each and every year during the currency of such loan, being for a period of twenty (20) years, or until the loan is fully paid off.
