WHEREAS notice was published in the Gazette of the 9th April, 1931, that the Native Minister has decided to apply the provisions of subsection (3) of section 23 of the Native Land Amendment and Native Land Claims Adjustment Act, 1929, to Wairau Block XII, Section 5A, and other subdivisions of Native land or land owned by Natives in the South Island Native Land Court District: And whereas the Native Minister has now decided that the Native land or land owned by Natives set out in the Schedule hereto shall be subject to the provisions of subsection (3) of the said section 23, and shall be included in and form part of the Wairau Development Scheme. Notice of the Native Minister’s intention is hereby given and published in accordance with the said subsection (3) which provides that no owner shall, except with the consent of the Native Minister, be entitled to exercise any rights of ownership in connection with the land affected so as to interfere with or obstruct the carrying-out of any works undertaken or to be undertaken under the said subsection (3).

Te Kuiti – Oparure Development Scheme.

WHEREAS the Native Minister has decided to apply the provisions of subsection (3) of section 23 of the Native Land Amendment and Native Land Claims Adjustment Act, 1929, to the Native land or land owned by Natives described in the Schedule hereto: Notice of the Native Minister’s intention so to do is hereby given and published in accordance with the said subsection (3) and attention is drawn to paragraph (f) of the said subsection (3), which provides that no owner shall, except with the consent of the Native Minister, be entitled to exercise any rights of ownership in connection with the land affected so as to interfere with or obstruct the carrying-out of any works undertaken or to be undertaken under the said subsection (3).

Notice to Mariners No. 16 of 1931.

Marine Department,
Wellington, N.Z., 12th May, 1931.

NEW ZEALAND.—NORTH ISLAND.—WEST COAST.—HOKIANGA RIVER.

Bar Soundings.

Previous Notice: No. 31 of 1930 is hereby cancelled.
Position: Lat. 35° 32′ S., long. 173° 21′ E. (approx.).
Details: The bar now carries a uniform depth of 13 ft. at M.L.W.S. with the exception of a channel carrying 22 ft. at M.L.W.S. with the flagstaff bearing 113°. This channel is difficult to work with any sea on, by reason of it being situated so far north and close to the shore.
