Land set apart for Disposal by way of Sale or Lease to Discharged Soldiers, under Special Tenures, in the Southland Land District.

A PROCLAMATION.

IN pursuance of the power and authority conferred upon me by section four of the Discharged Soldiers Settlement Act, 1915, I, Charles, Baron Bledisloe, Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby proclaim and declare that the land described in the Schedule hereto shall be, and the same is hereby, set apart and declared open for disposal by way of sale or lease to discharged soldiers, under special tenures, in the manner provided in the said Act.

SOUTHLAND LAND DISTRICT.

SECTION 7, Block X, Oteramika Hundred: Area, 8 acres 0 roods 26·8 perches.

Given under the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, and issued under the Seal of that Dominion, this 7th day of May, 1931.

Declaring Lands in Hauraki Mining District, Auckland Land District, open for Disposal on Renewable Lease.

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS by section one hundred and fifty-four of the Land Act, 1924, it is enacted that the Governor-General, by Proclamation, may from time to time declare any lands within any mining district to be open for disposal as provided in section one hundred and fifty-three of the said Act:

Now, therefore, I, Charles, Baron Bledisloe, Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, in exercise of the power and authority conferred upon me by the one hundred and fifty-fourth section of the said Act, and of every other power and authority in anywise enabling me in this behalf, do hereby proclaim and declare that the lands described in the Schedule hereto shall be open on Friday, the twenty-sixth day of June, one thousand nine hundred and thirty-one, for disposal as provided in section one hundred and fifty-three of the said Act.

SCHEDULE.

AUCKLAND LAND DISTRICT.—HAURAKI MINING DISTRICT.

FIRST-CLASS LAND.

Thames County.—Tairua Survey District.—Paritu Block.

SECTION 22, Block VIII: Area, 187 acres 0 roods 10 perches. Capital value, £190. Half-yearly rent, £3 16s.

Section 24, Block VIII: Area, 79 acres 1 rood. Capital value, £80. Half-yearly rent, £1 12s.

Section 25, Block VIII: Area, 81 acres. Capital value, £85. Half-yearly rent, £1 14s.

These sections are situated twenty-eight miles from Waihi, eight miles from Whangamata, and two miles from Opoutere Post-office and Native school. Will be suitable for dairying when developed.

Section 22 comprises level to undulating land, practically all of which is ploughable. About one-third of the area is alluvial flat under heavy tall manuka, while the balance is in open fern and manuka.

The soil is a dark loam on clay formation on the flats; the balance light loam over clay on rhyolite.

Sections 24 and 25 comprise level to gently undulating land broken by small volcanic cones. The soil is a dark loam on clay formation.

The sections are under very heavy tall manuka and dense undergrowth of shrubs.

SECOND-CLASS LAND.

Coromandel County.—Coromandel Survey District.

Part Section 5, Block XV: Area, 778 acres. Capital value, £390. Half-yearly rent, £7 16s.

Weighted with £270, for improvements comprising half-share in 40 chains boundary fencing, felling and grassing, and sawmill. Repayable in cash.

Grazing property, situated on the Coromandel–Mercury Bay Road, eight miles from Whitianga Wharf, and three miles from Kaimarama School. All hilly country, steep and broken in places. Approximately 300 acres bush land, felled and grassed, but now reverted to fern and second growth; balance in natural state. Blackberry requires attention. Well watered by permanent streams and springs.
