THE Public Service Commissioner has made the following appointments in the Public Service :-

Arthur Frederic Owen Clarke

to be Registrar of Marriages and Registrar of Births and Deaths for the District of Pahiatua, and Registrar of Births and Deaths of Maoris at Pahiatua, as from the 15th day of April, 1931.

Edward Nicholas Pascoe

to be Registrar of Marriages and Registrar of Births and Deaths for the District of Te Awamutu, and Registrar of Births and Deaths of Maoris at Te Awamutu, as from the 16th day of April, 1931.

Gavin Eugene Pollock

to be Registrar of Marriages and of Births and Deaths for the District of Feilding, as from the 18th April, 1931.*

John Classon Harding

to be Clerk of the Warden’s Court, Receiver of Gold Revenue, and Mining Registrar at Collingwood for the Karamea Mining District, constituted under the Mining Act, 1926.

Constable William Roycroft

to be Bailiff of the Magistrates’ Court at Queenstown for the purposes of the Magistrates’ Courts Act, 1928; and Bailiff of the Warden’s Court at Queenstown for the Otago Mining District, constituted under the Mining Act, 1926, as from the 17th day of April, 1931.

THE POVERTY BAY ELECTRIC-POWER BOARD.

Result of Poll on Proposal to raise a Loan of £78,000.

PURSUANT to section 13 (1) of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926, I hereby give notice that a poll of the ratepayers of the Poverty Bay Electric-power District was taken on the tenth day of April, one thousand nine hundred and thirty-one (10th April, 1931) on the proposal of the Poverty Bay Electric-power Board to borrow the sum of seventy-eight thousand pounds (£78,000).

The particular purposes for which the loan is required are for constructing works in connection with the change-over from direct current to alternating current, increasing the capacity of lines and incidentals and works in connection with the extension of the reticulation system, in respect of which latter works guarantees as described in clause 12 (1) of the Electrical Supply Regulations, 1927, have first been given in favour of the Power Board for payments amounting in each of not less than ten consecutive years from the completion of such works to at least 17 per cent. of the estimated cost of such works.

The number of votes recorded for the proposal was 1,116; the number of votes recorded against the proposal was 286; the number of informal votes was 4.

I therefore declare that the proposal was carried.

Waimarino County Council.—Cancellation of Unexercised Loan Authority.

In the matter of Section 118 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926.

WHEREAS the Waimarino County Council has been duly authorized to borrow the loans mentioned in the first column of the Schedule hereto, for the purposes set out against each loan respectively in the same column, up to the respective amounts shown in the second column of the said Schedule, and the consent of the Governor-General in Council thereto was given by Orders in Council as indicated in the third column of the said Schedule ;

And whereas the undertakings in respect of which the said loans were authorized have been completed from revenue or from other sources, and it has not been found necessary to borrow any portion or portions of the amounts so authorized :

And whereas the Minister of Finance has duly notified the Waimarino County Council in writing of his intention to cancel the loan authorities, which have not been unexercised :

Now, therefore, in exercise of the powers in that behalf conferred upon me by section 118 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926, and of all other powers me in this behalf enabling, I, George William Forbes, Minister of Finance, do hereby cancel the authority of the Waimarino County Council to borrow, under the loan authorities referred to in the first column of the said Schedule, the sums set out in the second column of the said Schedule, being the amounts in respect of which the said loan authorities have not been exercised.

Subdividing existing Ward “A” of the Borough of Mount Albert into two Wards, to be called Wards “A” and “B.”

In exercise of the powers conferred upon it by section 142 of the Municipal Corporations Act, 1920, the Mount Albert Borough Council hereby resolves by way of special order as follows :-

  1. The present subdivision known as Ward “A” shall be revoked, and the area comprised therein shall be divided
