roads fronting on the shores of the said lake; and all those
reserves in the said county and survey districts numbered
3186, 3187, 3185, 2903, 890, and 157, excluding therefrom
Native Reserve 385 adjoining Lake Forsyth, and those portions
of R.S. 2474, 4804, and 6012, being the flat land adjoining
Okute and Little River Streams and Lake Forsyth.
2. Ahuriri Lagoon.
3. Horse-shoe Lake.
4. Glenmark Lagoon.
5. Cheviot Lagoon.
6. All that area within one mile on each side of the West
Coast (Christchurch-Hokitika) Road from Springfield to
Dillmanstown.
7. All that area in the Canterbury Land District bounded by
a line commencing at the south-western corner of Rural
Section 17571; thence north-easterly generally along Fair-
weather Road, Harper's Road, and Dixon's Road to the
northern boundary of Reserve 3415; thence along that
boundary to a point due west of the easternmost corner
of Rural Section 14341; thence along a right line to that
point; thence westerly generally along the road forming
the southern boundary of that section and of Rural Sec-
tion 5785 to Heyward's Road; thence north-westerly along
Heyward's Road to its intersection with the south-eastern
boundary of Reserve 3415; thence south-westerly generally
along that boundary to a point in line with the southern
boundary of Rural Section 17571; thence to and along that
boundary to the south-western corner of the said Section 17571,
the point of commencement.

Open Season for Imported Game and Native Game, License
Fees, &c., Otago Acclimatization District.

IN exercise of the powers vested in me by the Animals
Protection and Game Act, 1921-22, I, Philip Aldborough
de la Perrelle, Minister of Internal Affairs of the Dominion of
New Zealand, do hereby declare the period from the 1st day
of May to the 30th day of June, 1931 (both days inclusive),
to be an open season in the Otago Acclimatization District
as described in the First Schedule hereto, except in the areas
referred to in Condition No. 3 and in the Second Schedule
hereto, for the taking or killing of the following imported
game and native game—viz., Californian quail, Canadian
goose, mallard duck, grey duck, spoonbill duck, and black
swan; and the period from the 1st day of January to the
31st day of March, 1932 (both days inclusive), to be an open
season in the said district, except as above, for the taking or
killing of the following native game—viz., godwits—subject
to the following conditions.

CONDITIONS.

  1. LICENSES to take or kill such imported game and native
    game, including godwits, within the said district will be
    issued to any person on payment of the sum of twenty shillings
    (20s.) each, and licenses to take or kill such native game only,
    including godwits, will be issued to any person on payment
    of the sum of ten shillings (10s.) each; and the Secretary of
    the Otago Acclimatization Society, or any person authorized
    by such Secretary in that behalf is hereby authorized to sign
    and issue the said licenses.

  2. The number of such imported game and native game
    that may be taken or killed by any one person in any one
    day shall not exceed twelve head of mallard duck and twenty
    head in all of grey duck, spoonbill duck, and black swan.

  3. Nothing in any license to take or kill imported game
    and native game, including godwits (or native game only,
    including godwits), shall authorize the holder thereof to take
    or kill imported game and native game (or native game only)
    on lands actually and exclusively used by any registered
    acclimatization society for acclimatization purposes, or on
    any sanctuary or public domain, or any land mentioned
    in the Second Schedule hereto.

  4. No person shall kill or destroy any such imported game
    or native game, or shoot at or attempt to shoot at any such
    imported game or native game, with any automatic or auto-
    loading gun, unless it is converted into a gun capable of
    carrying two cartridges only, or with any rifle or pea-rifle,
    swivel-gun, punt-gun, or pump-gun, or shall use any gun
    other than a shoulder-gun; and no gun shall be used for
    the purpose aforesaid the bore of which is larger than the
    size known as No. 12 at the muzzle, nor shall any gun be used
    which exceeds 10 lb. in weight, and no cartridge shall be
    used the length of which exceeds 2½ in.

  5. A license issued pursuant to this notification to take or
    kill imported and native game or native game only shall
    entitle the holder thereof to take or kill native game in the
    Southland Acclimatization District, during the period and
    subject, mutatis mutandis, to the conditions prescribed in the
    notification fixing an open season for native game in that
    district.

  6. Shooting may begin not earlier than one hour before
    sunrise and must cease not later than one hour after sunset.

  7. No live birds of any species shall be used as decoys, nor
    shall more than twenty-five artificial decoys be used at any
    one time (whether by one or several persons) on any par-
    ticular water within an area of less than 100 yards square.

  8. No person shall use or cause to be used any aeroplane in
    connection with the taking or killing of imported game or
    native game:
    Provided that this condition shall not be so construed as
    to prohibit the use of any aeroplane for the purpose of
    travelling either to or from a rendezvous.

  9. No person shall use or cause to be used on any lake,
    pond, lagoon, mere, estuary, or other dead water any power-
    boat for the purpose of taking or killing, whether by himself
    or by some other person or persons at his direction, by driving,
    chasing, frightening, or stalking any imported game, or native
    game. For the purpose of this condition, power-boat means
    and includes any launch, boat, canoe, or other similar craft
    propelled either wholly or partly by mechanical power:
    Provided that this condition shall not be so construed as
    to prohibit the use of any power-boat for camping purposes
    or for the purpose of travelling either to or from a rendezvous
    or generally or to prohibit shooting from a moored power-boat.

  10. Any person committing a breach of any of these con-
    ditions is liable, on conviction, to a fine of £20.

FIRST SCHEDULE.

All that area in the Otago and Southland Land Districts
bounded by a line commencing at Broderick's Pass and pro-
ceeding along the summit of the range passing through Mount
Huxley, Lindis Pass, to Mount St. Bathans; along a right
line due east to and along the summit of the Hawkdun Range,
through Mount Domett and along the summit of the Kakanui
Range to the source of the Waianakarua River; down that
river to the eastern boundary of Section 27, Block III, Wai-
hemo Survey District; south-westerly along that boundary
to a public road; south-easterly along that road to the
eastern boundary of Section 4, Block XIV, Moeraki Survey
District; along that boundary, along the northern and
eastern boundaries of Block XII, Moeraki Survey District,
to the northern boundary of Section 31; easterly along that
boundary to the north-eastern corner of said Section 31;
thence along a public road to the southern boundary of
Section 43, Block IX, Moeraki Survey District; along the
southern boundaries of Sections 43, 44, and 45, all of Block
IX, and along the western boundary of Section 1 of 20, Block
III, Moeraki, to the sea; thence by the sea to the mouth of
the Mataura River; thence up the Mataura River to the
north-western boundary of Section 4, Block III, Nokomai
Survey District; thence north-easterly along that boundary
and the north-western boundary of Section 3, Block III
aforesaid, to a public road; across that road, and northerly
along same to the northern boundary of Section 2, Block III,
Nokomai Survey District; thence north-easterly along the
summit of the Hector Mountains passing through Lorn Peak,
James Peak, and Ben Nevis to Ben Cruachan; thence
easterly through Mount Edward to Mount Rosa; thence by
a right line to the confluence of the Nevis and Kawarau Rivers;
thence down the Kawarau River to its junction with the
Roaring Meg Stream; thence up the Roaring Meg Stream
to its source on Mount Pisa; thence by a right line to the
summit of Mount Pisa; thence by a right line northerly to
the south-eastern corner of Block I, Lower Wanaka Survey
District; thence northerly along the eastern boundary of
the said Block I to the north-eastern corner of the said Block
I; thence due west along the northern boundary of Block I
aforesaid to the Cardrona River; thence down the Cardrona
and up the Clutha River to Lake Wanaka; thence up the
centre of Lake Wanaka to the mouth of the Wilkin River;
thence up the centre of the Wilkin River to the foot of a spur
leading to Mount Kuri; thence by a right line to Mount
Kuri, from Mount Kuri to the summit of the Southern Alps,
and by the Southern Alps to Broderick's Pass, the place of
commencement.

SECOND SCHEDULE.

Areas, in addition to those referred to in Condition No. 3,
excepted from the open season wherein imported game and
native game (or native game only) shall not be taken or
killed:
The Lagoon known as Tomahawk Lagoon (Otago Penin-
sula).
