Provided that this condition shall not be so construed as
to prohibit the use of any aeroplane for the purpose of
travelling either to or from a rendezvous.
- No person shall use or cause to be used on any lake,
pond, lagoon, mere, estuary, or other dead water any power-
boat for the purpose of taking or killing, whether by himself
or by some other person or persons at his direction, by driving,
chasing, frightening, or stalking any imported game or native
game. For the purpose of this condition, power-boat means
and includes any launch, boat, canoe, or other similar craft
propelled either wholly or partly by mechanical power :
Provided that this condition shall not be so construed as
to prohibit the use of any power-boat for camping purposes
or for the purpose of travelling either to or from a rendezvous
or generally or to prohibit shooting from a moored power-boat.

Nothing in this Warrant shall apply to Californian quail
in the County of Murchison, in which county protection has
been removed from Californian quail. -
Any person committing a breach of any of these con-
ditions is liable, on conviction, to a fine of £20.
FIRST SCHEDULE.
All that area in the Nelson Land District bounded towards
the north-west and north-east generally by Tasman Sea,
Golden Bay, and Tasman Bay, from Kohaihai Bluff, in Block
XIII, Whakapoa Survey District, to a point on shore of
Croisilles Harbour due west of the westernmost point of
Elaine Bay ; thence towards the north by a right line running
due east to said westernmost point of that bay and by
southern shore of that bay to its south head; thence towards
the south-east generally by a right line to Trig. Station Y
(Boundary Trig.) and by a line along the summit of the range
over Mount McLaren, Editor Peak, Mount Duppa, and Saddle
Hill to the source of the Heringa Stream ; thence by a line
down the middle of that stream to its confluence with the
Pelorus River ; thence by a line up the middle of the Pelorus
River to its source near Red Hills; thence by a right line to
the summit; thence by a line along the summit of the range
over Red Hills, Mount Rintoul, and Bush Cone to the summit
of Wards Pass; thence by a right line to Trig. Station Top 2
(Mangatawai); thence by a line along the summit of St.
Arnaud Range and the summit of the Spenser Mountains;
thence towards the south-west by a line along the summit of
the southern watershed of the Maruia River to Mount Haast;
thence by a line due north to the right bank of the Inangahua
River and along that bank to and up the left bank of the
Buller River to the mouth of the Eight-mile or Boundary
Creek; thence by a line up a leading spur on the western
side of said Boundary Creek to Bald Hill and by a line along
the summit of Lyell Range and along the summit of a range
over Mount Luna to Mount Arthur ; thence towards the south-
west by a line along the summit of the Western Ranges over
Mount Peel and Mount Snowden to Mount Cobb ; thence
towards the south-east by a line along the summit of range
over Mount Domett and down a leading spur to the Tasman
Sea at Kohaihai Bluff, the place of commencement.
SECOND SCHEDULE.
Area, in addition to those referred to in Condition No. 3,
excepted from the open season wherein imported game and
native game shall not be taken or killed :-

Open Season for Imported Game and Native Game, License
Fees, &c., North Canterbury Acclimatization District.
IN exercise of the powers vested in me by the Animals
Protection and Game Act, 1921-22, I, Philip Aldborough
de la Perrelle, Minister of Internal Affairs of the Dominion
of New Zealand, do hereby declare the period from the 1st
day of May to the 31st day of July, 1931 (both days inclusive),
to be an open season in the North Canterbury Acclimatization
District, as described in the First Schedule hereto, except in
the areas referred in to Condition No. 3 and in the Second
Schedule hereto, for the taking or killing of the following
imported game and native game-viz., Californian quail,
grey duck, spoonbill duck, Canadian geese, mallard duck, and
black swan; and the period from the 1st day of May to the
7th day of May, 1931 (both days inclusive), to be an open
season in the said district, except as above, for the taking or
killing of the following native game—viz., paradise duck; and
the period from the 1st day of January to the 31st day of
March, 1932 (both days inclusive), to be an open season
in the said district for the taking or killing of the following
native game-viz., godwits and knots—subject to the following
conditions.
CONDITIONS.
-
LICENSES to take or kill such imported game and native
game, including godwits and knots, within the said district
will be issued to any person on payment of the sum of
twenty shillings (20s.) each; and licenses to take or kill the
following native game-viz., grey duck, spoonbill duck (or
shoveller), and black swan--will be issued to any person
on payment of ten shillings (10s.) each; and licenses
to take or kill the following native game-viz., godwits
and knots-will be issued to any person on payment of
ten shillings (10s.) each; and the Secretary of the North
Canterbury Acclimatization Society, or any person authorized
by such Secretary in that behalf, is hereby authorized to sign
and issue the said licenses. -
The number of such native game that may be taken or
killed by any one person in any one day shall not exceed
twenty-five head in all of grey duck, spoonbill duck, and para-
dise duck, provided that not more than five head of paradise
duck may be taken or killed by any one person in any one day. -
Nothing in any license to take or kill imported game
and native game, including godwits and knots (or native
game only, or godwits and knots only) shall authorize the holder
thereof to take or kill imported game and native game, in-
including godwits and knots (or native game only, or godwits
and knots only), on lands actually and exclusively used by
any registered acclimatization society for acclimatization
purposes, or on any sanctuary or public domain, or any
land mentioned in the Second Schedule hereto. -
No person shall kill or destroy any such imported game
or native game, or shoot at or attempt to shoot at any such
imported game or native game, with any automatic or auto-
loading gun, unless it is converted into a gun capable of
carrying two cartridges only, or with any rifle or pea-rifle,
swivel-gun, punt-gun, or pump-gun, or shall use any gun other
than a shoulder-gun; and no gun shall be used for the purpose
aforesaid the bore of which is larger than the size known
as No. 12 at the muzzle, nor shall any gun be used which
exceeds 10 lb. in weight, and no cartridge shall be used the
length of which exceeds 2½ in. -
Shooting may begin not earlier than one hour before
sunrise and must cease not later than one hour after
sunset. -
No live birds of any species shall be used as decoys, nor
shall more than twenty-five artificial decoys be used at any
one time (whether by one or several persons) on any par-
ticular water within an area of less than 100 yards square. -
No person shall use or cause to be used any aeroplane
in connection with the taking or killing of imported game
or native game:
Provided that this condition shall not be so construed as
to prohibit the use of any aeroplane for the purpose of travelling
either to or from a rendezvous.

Pass, and proceeding north-easterly along the summit of the
Southern Alps and the Spenser Mountains to Mount Hum-
boldt ; thence along a right line to Barefell Pass, a right line
to Palmer Saddle, and thence down the Conway River to
its mouth; thence southerly along the sea-coast to Rakaia
River, and up that river to its source at Whitcombe Pass, the
point of commencement.
SECOND SCHEDULE.
Areas, in addition to those referred to in Condition No. 3,
excepted from the open season wherein imported game and
native game shall not be taken or killed :—
- All that area in the County of Akaroa, situated in the
Akaroa and Ellesmere Survey Districts, Canterbury Land
District, containing by admeasurement 1,540 acres, more or
less, being the lake known as Lake Forsyth, including all
