to be Clerk of the Warden’s Court, Receiver of Gold Revenue, and Mining Registrar at Queenstown for the District of Otago, constituted under the Mining Act, 1926, and Clerk of the Magistrates’ Court at Queenstown for the purposes of the Magistrates’ Courts Act, 1928, as from the 2nd day of March, 1931.

New Zealand Inscribed Stock Act, 1917.—Closing of Registers.

NOTICE is hereby given that the Register of New Zealand 4½-per-cent. Inscribed Stock, maturing 20th April, 1939, will be closed from the 1st to the 20th April, 1931 (inclusive), for the purpose of the issue of half-yearly interest.

Matamata Town Board.—Cancellation of Unexercised Loan Authority.

In the matter of Section 118 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926.

WHEREAS the Matamata Town Board has been duly authorized to borrow by way of loan the sum of twenty thousand pounds (£20,000), for streets improvements, and the consent of the Governor-General in Council thereto was given by Order in Council made on the 10th day of November, 1925, and published in the New Zealand Gazette, No. 81, of 19th idem, at page 3194 :

And whereas in respect of the said sum of twenty thousand pounds (£20,000) there has been raised and borrowed for the purposes aforesaid the sum of six thousand six hundred pounds (£6,600); and it has not been found necessary to borrow the whole of the amount so authorized :

And whereas the Minister of Finance has duly notified the Matamata Town Board in writing of his intention to cancel the loan authority in so far as it has not been exercised :

Now, therefore, in exercise of the powers in that behalf conferred upon me by section 118 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926, and of all other powers me in this behalf enabling, I, George William Forbes, Minister of Finance, do hereby cancel the authority of the Matamata Town Board to borrow under the loan authority hereinbefore referred to, the sum of thirteen thousand four hundred pounds (£13,400), being the amount in respect of which the said loan authority has not been exercised: Provided always that this cancellation is without prejudice to the validity in all respects of the loan of six thousand six hundred pounds (£6,600) already borrowed pursuant to the said loan authority.

Result of Poll for Proposed Loan.

Wellington, 6th March, 1931.

THE following notice, received from the Chairman, Opunake Town Board, is published in accordance with the provisions of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926.

PURSUANT to section 13 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926, I hereby give notice that at a poll of the ratepayers of the Town District of Opunake, taken on the 18th day of February, 1931, on the proposal of the Opunake Town Board to borrow the sum of £14,100 for the purpose of installing a water-supply, the number of votes recorded for the proposal was 27; the number of votes recorded against the proposal was 65.

I therefore declare that the proposal was rejected.

Notice respecting Proposed Alteration of Boundaries, Kaipara River District, County of Waitemata.

IT is hereby notified that a petition has been presented to His Excellency the Governor-General, under the River Boards Act, 1908, and amendments, praying that the areas described in the Schedule hereto may be included in the Kaipara River District. All persons affected are hereby called upon to lodge any written objections to or petitions against the proposal which they desire to lodge within one month from the first publication of this notice, such objections or petitions to be addressed and forwarded to the Minister of Internal Affairs, Wellington.
