Drainage Engineer’s Office, 5 Law Court Buildings, High Street, Auckland, at which office the rate-book will be open for inspection. A copy of the rate-book will be available for inspection at the office of the Chief Drainage Engineer at Kaitaia.

FIRST SCHEDULE.
TOWN SUBDIVISION.

On the unimproved value of all land within the Kaitaia Town District: Seventy-three one-hundredths of a penny (0·73d.) in the pound.

SECOND SCHEDULE.
RURAL SUBDIVISION.

Class A: On the unimproved value of all land classified as Class A by the persons appointed to classify lands under section 3 of the Swamp Drainage Amendment Act, 1928: Sevenpence and seventy-four one-hundredths of a penny (7·74d.) in the pound.

Class B: On the unimproved value of all land so classified as Class B: Twopence and seventy-one one-hundredths of a penny (2·71d.) in the pound.

Class C: On the unimproved value of all land so classified as Class C: One penny and sixteen one-hundredths of a penny (1·16d.) in the pound.

Notice of Rates made and levied under the Swamp Drainage Act, 1915, and Amendments: Kaitaia Drainage Area.

WHEREAS I, Ethelbert Alfred Ransom, Minister of Lands, acting in pursuance of the powers vested in me by the Swamp Drainage Act, 1915, and its amendments, have this day made and levied on the unimproved value of all land within the Kaitaia Town District Subdivision of the Kaitaia Drainage Area a special rate as set out in the First Schedule hereto, and on the unimproved value of all land in the subdivision of the Kaitaia Drainage Area outside the Kaitaia Town District a special rate on the graduated scale set out in the Second Schedule hereto, such rates to be annually recurring rates, and to be levied year by year until the moneys in respect of which they were made are paid off:

Now, therefore, it is hereby notified that in respect of the financial year ending on the 31st day of March, 1931, the rates set out in the First and Second Schedules hereto will be payable on the 22nd day of December, 1930, and in respect of every future financial year rates levied will be payable on the 30th day of August in such year; subject, however, in respect of the rates set out in the Second Schedule hereto to such rebates as are prescribed by section 45 (1) of the Finance Act, 1930 (No. 2). Notice is also given that the respective special rates are payable at the office of the Collector of Rates, Chief Drainage Engineer’s Office, 5 Law Court Buildings, High Street, Auckland, and that the rate-book is kept at the office of the Collector of Rates aforesaid, where it is available for inspection at all times at which that office is open for the transaction of public business. A copy of the rate-book will, for the convenience of ratepayers, be available for inspection at the office of the Chief Drainage Engineer at Kaitaia.

Class B: On the unimproved value of all lands so classified as Class B: Fourpence and ninety-six one-hundredths of a penny (4·96d.) in the pound.

Class C: On the unimproved value of all lands so classified as Class C: Twopence and thirteen one-hundredths of a penny (2·13d.) in the pound.

Manawatu-Oroua River Board.

CANCELLATION OF UNEXERCISED LOAN AUTHORITY.

In the matter of Section 118 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926.

WHEREAS the Manawatu-Oroua River Board has been duly authorized to borrow by way of loan the sum of one thousand pounds (£1,000) for carrying out flood-protection works on river, and the consent of the Governor-General in Council thereto was given by Order in Council made on the thirty-first day of March, 1930, and published in the New Zealand Gazette, No. 25, of 3rd April, 1930, at page 992:

And whereas in respect of the said sum of one thousand pounds (£1,000) there has been raised and borrowed for the purposes aforesaid the sum of nine hundred and fifty pounds (£950):

And whereas the undertaking in respect of which the said loan was authorized has been completed, and it has not been found necessary to borrow the whole of the amount so authorized:

And whereas the Acting Minister of Finance has duly notified the Manawatu-Oroua River Board in writing of his intention to cancel the loan authority in so far as it has not been exercised:

Now, therefore, in exercise of the powers in that behalf conferred upon me by section 118 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926, and of all other powers me in this behalf enabling, I, Apirana T. Ngata, for the Acting Minister of Finance, do hereby cancel the authority of the Manawatu-Oroua River Board to borrow, under the loan authority hereinbefore referred to, the sum of fifty pounds (£50) being the amount in respect of which the said loan authority has not been exercised: Provided always that this cancellation is without prejudice to the validity in all respects of the loan of nine hundred and fifty pounds (£950) already borrowed pursuant to the said loan authority.

Classification of Streets in Auckland City.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred on me by the Transport Department Act, 1929, and the Motor-lorry Regulations, 1927, and their amendments, I, William Burgoyne Taverner, Minister of Transport, do hereby approve of the Auckland City Council’s proposed classification of streets or alteration in the classification of the streets described in the Schedule hereto, and situated in Auckland City.

SCHEDULE.
AUCKLAND CITY.

Streets classified in the Second Class: Available for the use thereon of any motor-lorry (other than a multi-axled motor-lorry) which with the load it is carrying weighs not more than 8 tons, or any multi-axled motor-lorry which with the load it is carrying weighs not more than 10 tons.

Averill Avenue (portion between Speight’s Road and Eltham Avenue).
Bay View Road (6 chains only).
Campbell Street.
John Street.
Main Road from Old Church Corner to Kohimarama Wharf.
Orakei Road (from Purewa Bridge to Kohimarama Road).
Polygon Street (4 chains only).
The Esplanade (Kohimarama).
The Strand (St. Heliers from Wharf Road to Long Drive).

Streets classified in the Third Class: Available for the use of any motor-lorry (other than a multi-axled motor-lorry) which with the load it is carrying weighs not more than 6½ tons, or any multi-axled motor-lorry which with the load it is carrying weighs not more than 8 tons.
