Rates for Press Telegrams.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House at Wellington, this 12th day of December, 1930.
Present:
HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL.
WHEREAS by Order in Council dated the fifteenth day of August, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-seven, and published in the Gazette on the eighteenth day of August, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-seven, regulations were made under the authority of the Post and Telegraph Act, 1908, and its amendments, for the transmission of messages by telegraph and fixing the charges for Press telegrams:
And whereas the Post and Telegraph Act, 1908, and its amendments, were repealed by the Post and Telegraph Act, 1928, but all regulations made thereunder and subsisting on the coming into operation of the last-mentioned Act enure for the purposes of that Act:
And whereas it is desirable to amend and add to the above-recited regulations in the manner hereinafter set forth:
Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the power and authority conferred upon him by the Post and Telegraph Act, 1928, and of all other powers and authorities in that behalf enabling him, and acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby make the regulations and amendments set forth in the Schedule hereto; and doth hereby revoke so much of the above-recited regulations as is inconsistent herewith, and doth further order that the said revocation shall take effect and the regulations and amendments hereby made shall come into force on the date of the publication of this Order in Council in the New Zealand Gazette, and that the regulations and amendments hereby made shall form part of and be read together with the above-recited regulations.
SCHEDULE.
Press Telegrams.

PROVIDED the telegraph offices are open, all newspapers shall be entitled to receive Press news at night at evening rates, whether sent in the evening prior to publication or not.

(2) On week-days and holidays the Radio Broadcasting Company of New Zealand, Limited, shall be permitted to receive Press telegrams containing news of general public interest and intended for broadcasting by wireless at the same rates and on the same conditions as are applicable to evening newspapers. On Sundays the said company may receive such telegrams at the same rates and under the same conditions as are applicable to morning newspapers.
Charges.
- The following rates shall be chargeable for the transmission of Press telegrams from or to any office in New Zealand during the prescribed hours for such business. No charge shall be made for address and signature up to six words. Press telegrams transmitted at an hour other than provided for in the Schedule shall be charged for at ordinary telegram rates, in which case the address and signature are charged for.

| 5. (a) Inland news. Evening newspapers on day of publication may receive Press telegrams amounting in the aggregate to 3,000 words at this rate; any excess, 1d. per word. On any day other than a day of publication telegrams to evening newspapers publishing daily, thrice weekly, and twice weekly, are charged for separately at the rate of ls. for 50 words or fraction and ls. 6d. for each 100 words or fraction, and to other newspapers at the rate applicable to ordinary telegrams | 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. | .. | .. | 1 6 |
| (b) Inland sporting news for evening newspapers which publish special sporting editions on Saturday evening, and the Radio Broadcasting Company of New Zealand, Limited. Such messages lodged between 4 p.m. and 5 p.m. may be included in the scheduled Press referred to in class 5 (a), any messages in excess of the aggregate of 3,000 words to be charged for separately | 4 p.m. to close of office | 1 0 | 1 6 | .. |
