Appointment of Deputy District Public Trustee.

NOTICE is hereby given that, in pursuance of the power
and authority vested in me by section 3 of the
Public Trust Office Amendment Act, 1921-22, I, the Public
Trustee of the Dominion of New Zealand, have appointed
William Robert Millier, of the Public Trust Office, Napier, to
be Deputy of the District Public Trustee, Hastings, during
the absence of such District Public Trustee from his head-
quartes, and all previous appointments in this behalf are
hereby revoked.

Result of Poll for Proposed Loan.

THE following notice, received from the Chairman, Hutt
County Council, is published in accordance with the
provisions of the Local Bodies' Loans Act, 1926.

HUTT COUNTY COUNCIL.
PURSUANT to section 13 of the Local Bodies' Loans Act, 1926,
I hereby give notice that at a poll of ratepayers of the No. 28
Special-rating District, County of Hutt, taken on the 25th
day of November, 1930, on the proposal of the Hutt County
Council to borrow the sum of Β£1,650 for the purpose of ex-
tending the present water-supply in Number 2 Area,
Paekakariki, the number of votes recorded for the proposal
was 37; there were no votes recorded against the proposal.
I therefore declare that the proposal was carried.

Fixing Date on which certain Returns under the Fire Brigades
Act, 1926, are to be furnished.

PURSUANT to section 28 of the Fire Brigades Act, 1926,
it is hereby notified that the returns, showing the
total gross amount of the premiums received by or due to
fire insurance companies during the year ended 31st December,
1930, shall be transmitted to the Fire Boards concerned in
the manner prescribed by the said section, on or before the
28th February, 1931.

Date of Election of Insurance Members of the Newmarket Fire
Board.

PURSUANT to section 24 of the Fire Brigades Act, 1926,
I, Philip Aldborough de la Perrelle, Minister of Internal
Affairs, charged with the administration of the said Act, do
hereby appoint Wednesday, the 14th day of January, 1931,
to be the day for the holding of an election of two members
of the Newmarket Fire Board by fire-insurance companies
which for the time being are carrying on business within the
Newmarket Fire District.

Documents for Use in Persia.

  1. PERSIAN legislation has been enacted providing that the
    Persian Courts shall accord to documents drawn up elsewhere
    than in Persia the same degree of recognition as is accorded
    them in the country of issue, provided that, inter alia, a
    Persian Consular representative in the country of issue or,
    alternatively, a Consular representative of that country in
    Persia, shall have certified it as having been drawn up in
    accordance with the legal requirements of the country of
    issue.
  2. In all cases where such a document has been certified by
    a foreign Consular representative in Persia as having been
    issued in accordance with the legal requirements of the country
    of issue, the recognition of the document in question in the
    Persian Courts is conditional on the further certification, in
    Tehran, by the Ministry for Foreign Affairs, and in the pro-
    vinces by the local Governors, of the foreign representative's
    signature.
  3. Arrangements have accordingly been made whereby the
    Consular representatives of Great Britain in Persia will
    certify for the purposes of the legislation referred to documents
    drawn up in New Zealand, if they have previously received
    official authentication in New Zealand.
  4. To enable these arrangements to be taken advantage of
    it will be necessary that documents shall first be notarially
    verified in the usual way, and then submitted for local authen-
    tication to the Department of Internal Affairs.
  5. Documents will then be returned to the parties to be
    forwarded to Persia.
  6. Agents in Persia should be instructed to submit the
    documents to His Majesty's Legation at Tehran, which will
    arrange for them to be certified by a British Consular repre-
    sentative in Persia.
  7. A fee of 10s. 6d. will be charged for each document
    locally authenticated; the fee must be prepaid when the
    document is submitted to the Department.
  8. These arrangements apply to documents executed in
    Western Samoa and the Tokelau (Union) Islands, as well as
    to those executed in New Zealand (including the Cook Islands).

Applying the Provisions of Section 135 of the Public Works
Act, 1928, to the Tuakau Bridge.

WHEREAS it is provided by section 7 of the Main
Highways Amendment Act, 1925, that the Minister
of Public Works may, on the recommendation of the Main
Highways Board (hereinafter referred to as "the Board"),
by notice in the Gazette, declare that the provisions of sec-
tion 135 of the Public Works Act, 1928, in so far as it provides
for the apportionment of the cost of construction of any
bridge forming part of a main highway, shall apply with
respect to the apportionment of the cost of construction of
