THE NEW ZEALAND GAZETTE.

By-law under the Government Railways Act, 1926.

IN exercise and pursuance of the power and authority conferred by the Government Railways Act, 1926, and of all other powers and authorities in that behalf, I, William Andrew Veitch, Minister of Railways, do hereby amend the by-laws made under the Government Railways Act, 1908, on the 29th day of May, 1909, and enuring under the Government Railways Act, 1926, by adding to by-law number 42 the following paragraph:

(3) No person shall ride or attempt to ride any bicycle or motor-cycle in, through, or upon any subway, footpath, or footbridge on the railway where there shall be displayed a notice directing that such subway, footpath, or footbridge shall be used for pedestrian traffic only.

Applying the Provisions of Section 135 of the Public Works Act, 1928, to the Hautapu Bridge.

WHEREAS it is provided by section 7 of the Main Highways Amendment Act, 1925, that the Minister of Public Works may, on the recommendation of the Main Highways Board (hereinafter referred to as "the Board"), by notice in the Gazette, declare that the provisions of section 135 of the Public Works Act, 1928, in so far as it provides for the apportionment of the cost of construction of any bridge forming part of a main highway, shall apply with respect to the apportionment of the cost of construction of any bridge forming part of a main highway in so far as such cost is not provided for out of the Main Highways Fund:

And whereas on the 23rd day of October, 1930, the Board resolved as follows: "That in terms of the Main Highways Amendment Act, 1925, the Honourable Minister of Public Works be recommended to apply the provisions of section 135 of the Public Works Act, 1928, to the Hautapu Bridge on the Te Kuiti - Bulls via Taumarunui Main Highway":

Now, therefore, I, William Burgoyne Taverner, Minister of Public Works, in pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred by the said section 7, and of every other power in anyway enabling me in this behalf, do hereby declare that the provisions of section 135 of the Public Works Act, 1928, in so far as they provide for the apportionment of cost of construction, shall apply with respect to the apportionment of the cost of construction of the Hautapu Bridge on the Te Kuiti - Bulls via Taumarunui Main Highway.

Alteration : The illuminant will be changed from acetone gas to electric light on 15th December.

Remarks : The remaining characteristics are unaltered.

  1. Prohibited Anchorage—

Anchorage is prohibited within 500 ft. on each side of a power cable lying in a line 247° from Rangitoto Beacon to Takapuna Beach.

Payment of Bonus on Deer Tails in South Island.

IT is hereby notified that a bonus of 2s. is to be paid on the tails of deer destroyed in the South Island. The bonus will also be paid on chamois and thar. Tails should be sent to any of the following officers, who will arrange payment:

And whereas it is not known where the said Reydon Palmer Bates is, or whether he is alive or dead: And whereas by an order made by a Judge of the Supreme Court of New Zealand at Wellington on the 30th day of October, 1930, the Public Trustee was authorized to exercise in respect of the real and personal property owned by the said Reydon Palmer Bates all or any one or more of the powers and authorities set forth in section 87 of the Public Trust Office Act, 1908, as amended by section 36 of the Public Trust Office Amendment Act, 1913, other than the power set forth in subsection (i) of the said section 87: Now, the Public Trustee gives notice that it is his intention henceforth to exercise in respect of the said real and personal property the powers and authorities mentioned in the said order—namely, the powers and authorities set forth in section 87 of the Public Trust Office Act, 1908, as amended by section 36 of the Public Trust Office Amendment Act, 1913, other than the power set forth in subsection (i) of the said section 87.
