The Land and Income Tax (Annual) Act, 1930.

LAND-TAX PAYABLE.

BY Order in Council, made and issued by His Excellency the Governor-General in Council on the 6th day of October, 1930, under the authority of the above Act, it was determined that the duty by way of land-tax leviable under the said Act should be paid in one sum on Friday, the 7th day of November, 1930, at the office of the Commissioner of Taxes, Government Buildings, Wellington; and, in accordance with such Order in Council, I hereby give notice that the said duty will be payable accordingly.

Additional tax will accrue if the tax is not paid on or before 28th November, 1930. The liability to pay is not suspended by any objection. The tax should be paid on or before the prescribed date, otherwise the additional percentage accrues; any overpayment will be adjusted by refund. The demands will be posted from the office of the Commissioner of Taxes on or about 31st October, 1930. Demands must be presented with all payments, and taxpayers who expect a demand and do not receive one should notify me of the fact.

Notice to Mariners No. 41 of 1930.

Construction of the Pile Beacon and Exhibition of Light.

Position: 239° 1,760 ft. (approx.) from Red Beacon on Goat Island.

Details: The existing single pile, red No. 3, is being replaced by a four-pile beacon carrying a house from which a fixed red light will be exhibited on the 30th October.

Alteration of Harbour Light.

Former Notice: No. 27 of 1929 is hereby cancelled,

Position: Lat. 42° 26′, long. 171° 13′ (approx.).

Abridged Description: Occ. ev. 10 sec. 65 ft. 12 M. (U).

Alteration: The temporary fixed white light will be replaced on 15th November by an electric light occulting every ten seconds, thus: Light 5 secs., eclipse 5 secs.

Remarks: The arc of visibility remains unaltered.

SOUTH PACIFIC OCEAN.—FIJI ISLANDS.

Suva Harbour: Alteration in Lights.

(1) Western Reef light:—

New Position: About 20 yds. eastward of charted position. Lat. 18° 08′ 37·5″ S., long. 178° 24′ 04·5″ E.

Abridged Description: Fl. ev. 3 sec., 30 ft., 5 M. (U).

Alteration: The character of the light has been altered from fixed white to flashing white every three seconds, thus: Flash 0·3 sec., eclipse 2·7 sec.

The elevation has been reduced to 30 ft. (9ᵐ1) and the visibility to five miles.

Structure: White concrete beacon, surmounted by a round tower, 33 ft. (10ᵐ1) in height.

Note.—The light is unwatched.

(2) King’s Wharf north light:—

New Position: About 30 yds. north-eastward of charted position. Lat. 18° 07′ 58·5″ S., long. 178° 26′ 01″ E.

Abridged Description: F.G. 28 ft., 5 M.

Alteration: Elevation 28 ft. (8ᵐ5). Visibility has been increased to five miles.

Structure: Shed, 24 ft. (7ᵐ3) in height.

Notice to Mariners No. 44 of 1930.

NEW ZEALAND.—SOUTH ISLAND.—FOVEAUX STRAIT.—BLUFF HARBOUR.

Removal of Buoy—Erection of Pile Beacon—Exhibition of Light.

Position: 1,970 ft. seaward of the front beacon of the third set (in line 310°) and in transit with them.

Alteration: The red buoy marking the south-east end of the Middle Bank will be removed, and in the position given above a single red pile beacon will be erected, from which a fixed green light will be exhibited on 19th November.

Mining Privileges to be struck off the Register.—Notice under the Mining Act, 1926.

NOTICE is hereby given, in accordance with the provisions of section 188 (3) of the Mining Act, 1926, that unless sufficient cause be shown to the contrary within three months from the date hereof, the following mining privileges will be struck off the Register:—

(1) License No. 1464, dated 2nd May, 1927, for a water-race. Locality: Mole Creek, Matiri Survey District. Licensees: Gugliemo Monopoli and George Duncan McNee.

(2) License No. 1507, dated 14th December, 1927, for a water-race. Locality: Nadoo Creek, Block IV, Matiri Survey District. Licensees: Francis Randall Whitelock and others.

(3) License No. 1508, dated 14th December, 1927, for a water-race. Locality: West outlet of Lake Matiri, Block V, Matiri Survey District. Licensees: Francis Randall Whitelock and others.
