THE following notice, received from the Wiri Drainage Board, is published in accordance with the provisions of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926.

WIRI DRAINAGE BOARD.
Drainage Improvement Loan, 1930, £850.
Pursuant to section 13 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926, I hereby give notice that at a poll of the ratepayers of the Wiri Drainage District, taken on the 20th day of August, 1930, on the proposal of the Wiri Drainage Board to borrow the sum of £850, for the purpose of carrying out general drainage work, including the cleaning out and removing of obstructions in the Puhinui Stream, and cleaning out and reinstating ditches draining therein, the number of votes recorded for the proposal was 36; the number of votes recorded against the proposal was 20.
I therefore declare that the proposal was carried.

Whitford Hall Special Area Loan of £550, 1930.
Pursuant to section 13 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926, I hereby give notice that at a poll of the ratepayers of the Whitford Hall Loan of £550 Special-rating Area, taken on the 22nd day of July, 1930, on the proposal of the Manukau County Council to borrow the sum of £550, for the purpose of purchasing, renovating, and effecting improvements to the Whitford Hall and property in the Turanga Riding of the County of Manukau, the number of votes recorded for the proposal was 53; the number of votes recorded against the proposal was 4.
I therefore declare that the proposal was carried.

Pursuant to section 13 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926, I hereby give notice that at a poll of the ratepayers of the Wairoa Riding of the County of Manukau, taken on the 22nd day of July, 1930, on the proposal of the Manukau County Council to establish a Bridge Rate Fund for the reconstruction of bridges on roads in the Wairoa Riding of the County of Manukau, the number of votes recorded for the proposal was 145; the number of votes recorded against the proposal was 116; informal votes, 2.
I therefore declare that the proposal was lost.

Notice under the Shops and Offices Act, 1921–22, fixing the Closing-hours of Florists’ Shops within the Borough of Rotorua.
WHEREAS a requisition in writing, signed by a majority of the occupiers of all the florists’ shops within the Borough of Rotorua, has been forwarded to me, desiring that all such shops within the said borough be closed in the evening of working-days as follows: On Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays at 6 p.m., and on Saturdays at 9 p.m., with the following exceptions: (1) In the evening of the working-day immediately preceding Christmas Day, and in the evening of the working-day immediately preceding New Year’s Day, the closing-hour shall be 10.30 p.m.; (2) should the occupier of any shop affected by this requisition observe, pursuant to section 14 (2) of the Shops and Offices Act, 1921–22, Saturday as the statutory closing-day, then and in such case, the closing-hour on Wednesday shall be 6 p.m. and on Friday 9 p.m.; (3) when Anniversary Day, Good Friday, Anzac Day, or the birthday of the reigning sovereign falls on a day upon which any shop may remain open until 9 p.m. in accordance with this requisition, then, and in such case, the closing-hour for such shop on the working-day immediately preceding such day shall be 9 p.m.
And whereas I, Sydney George Smith, Minister of Labour, am satisfied that the signatures to such requisition represent a majority of the occupiers of all the said shops within the said borough.
Now, therefore, in pursuance of section 32 of the Shops and Offices Act, 1921–22, I do hereby direct that on and after the 6th day of October, 1930, all the florists’ shops within the Borough of Rotorua shall be closed accordingly.
