And whereas on the trial of Alfred Edward Storey at the
sitting of the Supreme Court at Wellington commencing on
the twenty-eighth day of July, one thousand nine hundred
and thirty, on an indictment charging him with manslaughter
and with an offence against section twenty-seven of the
Motor-vehicles Act, 1924, certain questions of law were reserved
for the opinion of the Court of Appeal pursuant to section
four hundred and forty-two of the Crimes Act, 1908, and such
questions of law stand for hearing and determination before
the First Division of the Court of Appeal at the sitting com-
mencing on the twenty-fourth day of September, one thousand
nine hundred and thirty:
And whereas the Honourable Sir Michael Myers, K.C.M.G.,
Chief Justice of New Zealand, and the Honourable John
Ranken Reed, a Judge of the Supreme Court of New Zealand,
have certified that the said questions of law are of special
difficulty and importance:
Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor-General of the
Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance of the authority
vested in him in that behalf as aforesaid, and acting by and
with the advice of the Executive Council of the said Dominion,
doth hereby authorize the Judges of the Second Division of
the Court of Appeal to sit with the Judges of the First Division
of that Court for the hearing and determination at the afore-
said sitting of the said questions of law in the said proceeding.

Amending Regulations as to Licenses to Fish for Atlantic
Salmon (Salmo salar) in the Southland Acclimatization
District.

At the Government House at Wellington, this 15th day of
September, 1930.

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL.
WHEREAS by Order in Council dated the tenth day of
January, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-
seven, and published in the Gazette of the thirteenth day of
the same month at page 52, regulations as to licenses to fish
for Atlantic salmon (Salmo salar) in the Southland Acclima-
tization District were made:
And whereas by Order in Council dated the fourteenth
day of January, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-
nine, and published in the Gazette of the seventeenth day of
the same month at page 125, regulations amending the
hereinbefore-recited regulations were made:
Order in Council prescribing the Rates of Interest that may be paid by certain Local Authorities in respect of specified
Loans or Portions thereof.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL.
WHEREAS each of the local authorities mentioned in the Second Column of the Schedule hereto has been authorized
to borrow, in respect of the loans referred to in the Third Column of the said Schedule, the respective sums stated
in the Fourth Column of the said Schedule, and the respective amounts shown in the Fifth Column of the said Schedule have
not been borrowed:
And whereas the Minister of Finance has in each case given his precedent consent as required by section one hundred and
fourteen of the Local Bodies' Loans Act, 1926 (hereinafter called "the said section"), and it is desired that the rates of interest
at which the money may be borrowed be rates which shall not produce to the lenders rates exceeding the respective rates specified
in the Sixth Column of the said Schedule:
Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice
and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, and in pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities
conferred on him by the said section and by section eleven of the Local Government Loans Board Act, 1926, and of all other
powers and authorities enabling him in this behalf, doth hereby prescribe that each of the amounts set out in the Fifth Column
of the said Schedule may be raised by the respective local authority whose name is set out in the Second Column of the said
Schedule, at a rate of interest being such as shall not produce to the lender a rate exceeding the respective rates specified in
the Sixth Column of the said Schedule, and the respective local authorities are hereby authorized to borrow the respective
sums accordingly.

And whereas it is desirable to further amend the said
regulations in the manner hereinafter described:
Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor-General of
the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of
the powers and authorities conferred upon him by sections
eighty-three and ninety-four of the Fisheries Act, 1908, and
of all other powers and authorities enabling him in that
behalf, and acting by and with the advice and consent of the
Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby revoke
the said regulations of the fourteenth day of January, one thou-
sand nine hundred and twenty-nine, and doth hereby make
the following regulations in lieu thereof, and in amendment of
the said regulations of the tenth day of January, one thousand
nine hundred and twenty-seven.
REGULATIONS.
- The period from the first day of May to the thirtieth
day of September, both days inclusive, in any year is hereby
declared to be a close season for Atlantic salmon, during which
period no person shall take or have in his possession any
Atlantic salmon, or the young or spawn thereof:
Provided that, in respect of the Upokorora River and that
portion of the waters of Lake Te Anau contained within the
arc of a circle having a radius of a hundred yards from a
point on the left bank of the said river at its mouth, the
terminal points of such arc being indicated on the banks of
the lake by white posts bearing the notice "Restricted Fishing
Limit," the period from the first day of March to the nineteenth
day of December, both days inclusive, in any year shall be a
close season for Atlantic salmon:
Provided further that this regulation shall not apply to
Atlantic salmon taken by any officer of the Marine Depart-
ment for purpose of pisciculture or scientific investigation:
Provided further that, with the consent of the Minister of
Marine, it shall be lawful for the Southland Acclimatization
Society to take from such rivers or streams as may be defined
by the Minister after such consent, salmon for the purpose
of pisciculture within the Southland Acclimatization District.

During the open season in respect of the Upukokorora
River and that portion of the waters of Lake Te Anau
hereinbefore-described it shall be unlawful for any person to
fish for Atlantic salmon therefrom with any lure or bait other
than artificial fly; and no person shall take or catch more
than three Atlantic salmon in any one day. -
During the month of October in any year it shall be
unlawful for any person to fish for Atlantic salmon from a
boat of any description whatsoever. -
Any person committing a breach of any of these regula-
tions shall be liable to a fine of fifty pounds (£50).
