being portions of Lots 15 and 16 of Section 11, Hutt Regis-
tration District, Block XIV, Belmont Survey District, and
being the whole of the area marked “D” on plan numbered
263/33, deposited in the Wellington District Office, Depart-
ment of Lands and Survey, and thereon bordered green.

Also all that area in the Borough of Lower Hutt, contain-
ing by admeasurement 1 acre and 11 perches, more or less,
being portions of Lots 18 and 19 of Section 11, Hutt Regis-
tration District, Block XIV, Belmont Survey District, and
being the whole of the area marked “E” on plan numbered
263/33, deposited in the Wellington District Office, Depart-
ment of Lands and Survey, and thereon bordered purple.

Also all that area in the Borough of Lower Hutt, contain-
ing by admeasurement 2 acres 2 roods 16 perches, more or
less, being accretion to the Hutt River bed, together with
the old Tow Path Reserve adjoining Lots 17, 18, 19, and 20
of Section 11, Hutt Registration District, Block XIV, Belmont
Survey District, and being the whole of the area marked
“F” on plan numbered 263/33, deposited in the Wellington
District Office, Department of Lands and Survey, and thereon
bordered neutral tint.

For river-protection and improvement purposes.

Also all those pieces or parcels of land in the Wellington
Land District, situated in the Mowhanau Township, Block XV,
Nukumaru Survey District, containing together by admeasure-
ment 24 acres 2 roods 23 perches, more or less, being Sections 6,
7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, and 73, together with Pa
Street and portions of Matai Street and Waitangi and Moana
Parades, as closed by Proclamation published in Gazette of the
24th April, 1930, page 1463. As the same are delineated on
the plan marked L. and S. 48784A, deposited in the Head
Office, Department of Lands and Survey, at Wellington, and
thereon bordered red.

Also all those pieces or parcels of land in the Wellington
Land District, situated in the Mowhanau Township, Block XV,
Nukumaru Survey District, containing in the aggregate
3 acres 2 roods 30·1 perches, more or less, being portions of
Rimu Street, and a road adjoining the Mowhanau Stream, as
closed by Proclamation published in Gazette of the 24th April,
1930, page 1463. As the same are delineated on plan marked
L. and S. 48784A, deposited in the Head Office, Department of
Lands and Survey, at Wellington, and thereon bordered red.

Opening Education Reserves in Westland Land District for
Selection on Renewable Lease.


BLEDISLOE, Governor-General.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities
conferred on me by the Land Act, 1924, and the Educa-
tion Reserves Act, 1928, I, Charles, Baron Bledisloe, Governor-
General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby declare
that the lands described in the Schedule hereto shall be open
for selection on renewable lease on Monday, the thirteenth
day of October, one thousand nine hundred and thirty,
at the rentals mentioned in the said Schedule, and I do also
declare that the said lands shall be leased under and subject
to the provisions of the said Acts.


SCHEDULE.

WESTLAND LAND DISTRICT.—EDUCATION ENDOWMENT LAND.

Westland County.—Poerua Survey District.

Lot 1 of Reserve 121B, Block V: Area, 239 acres 2 roods.
Capital value, £880. Half-yearly rent, £17 12s.

The following improvements, valued at £147, are included
in the capital value: Two-roomed hut (£75) and 144 chains
of fencing (£72).

This section comprises about 70 acres open—grass and
rushes, about 50 acres second growth; balance heavy bush.

About 112 acres rich sandy loam on gravel, with shallow bars
through flat; ribbonwood and totara country; about 60 acres
terrace and sidling, kamahi bush, few pines; poor soil.
Altitude, about 150 ft. to 500 ft. above sea-level. Well
watered by creeks. Distant about four miles to Harihari
Post-office and five miles to dairy factory.

Lot 2 of Reserve 121B, Block V: Area, 112 acres 3 roods.
Capital value, £675. Half-yearly rent, £13 10s.

The following improvements, valued at £11 10s., are in-
cluded in the capital value: 23 chains of fencing.

This section comprises about 65 acres open—grass and
rushes; balance second growth, ribbonwood, makomako,
konini, few totaras and pines; flat throughout; chiefly rich
silt deposit on gravel, with shallow bars through. Poorly
watered. Altitude, 180 ft. to 210 ft. above sea-level. Distant
about four miles and a half to Harihari Post-office and five
miles and a half to dairy factory.

Lot 3 of Reserve 121B, Block V: Area, 109 acres 2 roods.
Capital value, £665. Half-yearly rent, £13 6s.

The following improvements, valued at £14, are included
in the capital value: 28 chains of fencing.

About half this section open—rushes and grass; balance
chiefly ribbonwood, totara, and makomako; few matai.
Chiefly sandy loam on gravel, shallow in parts, flat throughout.
Watered by creek. Altitude, about 200 ft. to 230 ft. above
sea-level. Distant about four miles and three-quarters to
Harihari Post-office and five miles and three-quarters to
dairy factory.

Lot 4 of Reserve 121B, Block V: Area, 108 acres 3 roods.
Capital value, £490. Half-yearly rent, £9 16s.

This section comprises about 5 acres open—rushes and
grass; balance chiefly ribbonwood and miro, with patches of
totara through it; rich silt deposit on gravel, shallow in totara
bush. Altitude, 210 ft. to 260 ft. above sea-level. Distant
about five miles from Harihari Post-office and six miles from
dairy factory.

Lot 5 of Reserve 121B, Block V: Area, 457 acres. Capital
value, £510. Half-yearly rent, £10 4s.

This section comprises about 28 acres open—rushes, grass,
and ferns; balance heavy bush. About 160 acres practically
flat terrace land, chiefly small bush, comprising kamahi, puka,
konini, horopito, and scattered ribbonwood, from 4 in. to
10 in. soil on gravel; on terrace and sidling chiefly kamahi
bush, with few good rimu through it; soil poor and sour.
Well watered by creeks. Altitude, 210 ft. to 610 ft. above
sea-level. Distant about four miles and a half to Harihari
Post-office and five miles and a half to dairy factory.

Lot 6 of Reserve 121B, Block V: Area, 404 acres. Capital
value, £475. Half-yearly rent, £9 10s.

This section comprises about 310 acres practically flat.
Chiefly small mixed bush, comprising kamahi, puka, konini,
horopito, few pines and ribbonwood; 4 in. to 10 in. sandy
clay on gravel. About 94 acres broken spurs covered with
kamahi bush, good rimu and miro through it. Watered by
creeks. Altitude, 230 ft. to 600 ft. above sea-level. Distant
about five miles to Harihari Post-office and about six miles
to dairy factory.

Lot 8 of Reserve 121B, Block V: Area, 576 acres. Capital
value, £1,070. Half-yearly rent, £21 8s.

This section comprises about 85 acres open—rushes, grass,
and scattered light scrub, with a few odd totaras. About
25 acres second growth, makomako, ribbonwood, konini, &c.;
balance heavy bush. About 225 acres high rough hill sidling
covered with kamahi bush, few pines and miro through it,
dense supplejack undergrowth. Timber on flat chiefly
kamahi, totara, konini, hinahina, with few pines through it.
About 30 acres rich soil at north-west corner of section;
balance between road and river mostly stony. Altitude,
about 270 ft. to 1,100 ft. above sea-level. Well watered by
creeks. Distant about five miles and three-quarters to
Harihari Post-office and six miles and three-quarters to
dairy factory.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor-
General, this 5th day of September, 1930.
