Tokaanu Development Scheme.

Office of the Native Minister,
Wellington, 11th August, 1930.

WHEREAS the Native Minister has decided to apply the provisions of subsection (3) of section 23 of the Native Land Amendment and Native Land Claims Adjustment Act, 1929, to the Native land or land owned by Natives described in the Schedule hereto: Notice of the Native Minister’s intention so to do is hereby given and published in accordance with the said subsection (3), and attention is drawn to paragraph (f) of the said subsection (3), which provides that no owner shall, except with the consent of the Native Minister, be entitled to exercise any rights of ownership in connection with the land affected so as to interfere with or obstruct the carrying-out of any works undertaken or to be undertaken under the said subsection (3).

Hawke’s Bay Education Board.—Election of Members.

IN accordance with the provisions of the Education Act, 1914, and its amendments, it is hereby notified that as the number of candidates nominated was equal to the number of vacancies to be filled, the following are declared duly elected as members of the Education Board of the District of Hawke’s Bay :—

North Ward of Rural Area : Smith, Walter Henry.
South Ward of Rural Area : Quigley, Herbert Sydney McGowan.
Gisborne Urban Area : Coleman, Thomas Alston.
Napier Urban Area : Wright, Robert Colburn.
Hastings Urban Area : Lassen, Christian.

It is further notified that Frederick Ledger Frost has been elected to represent the Middle Ward of the Rural Area. The voting was as follows :—

Notice to Mariners No. 29 of 1930.

THE following Notice to Mariners, which has been received from the Commonwealth Lighthouse Service, is published for general information.

COMMONWEALTH OF AUSTRALIA.—LIGHTHOUSE SERVICE.

Notice to Mariners No. 6 of 1930.

AUSTRALIA.—EAST COAST.—QUEENSLAND.—CAPE MORETON.

ALTERATION IN LIGHT.

Mariners and others are hereby notified that the flashing white light on Cape Moreton was replaced by a group-flashing white light of increased power on 19th June, 1930.

Previous Notice : No. 1 of 1930.

Position : On the summit of Cape Moreton. Lat. 27° 02′ S., Long. 153° 29′ E., on Chart No. 1670A.

Alterations :—

(a) The character has been altered from flashing white to group-flashing white, showing four flashes every twenty seconds, thus :

Flash, 0·2 sec. ; eclipse, 3·0 sec. ; flash, 0·2 sec. ; eclipse, 3·0 sec. ; flash, 0·2 sec. ; eclipse, 3·0 sec. ; flash, 0·2 sec. ; eclipse, 10·2 sec.

(b) The power has been increased from 5,000 candles to 200,000 candles.

Remarks : In other respects the light remains unaltered. No further notice will be given.

Notice to Mariners No. 30 of 1930.

Bar Soundings.

Previous Notice : Wellington Notice No. 15 of 1930, hereby cancelled.

Position : Lat. 36° 26′ S., long. 174° 00′ E. (approx.).

Details : On 4th August, 1930, a line of soundings was taken while crossing the bar, and a least depth of 24 ft. obtained at M.L.W.S. with top of beacon about its own width open south of lighthouse. I consider this the best channel for crossing the bar.

Bar Soundings.

Previous Notice : Wellington Notice No. 14 of 1930, hereby cancelled.

Position : Lat. 35° 32′ S., long. 173° 21′ E. (approx.).

Details : On 2nd August, 1930, a line of soundings was taken while crossing the bar, and a least depth of 19 ft. obtained at M.L.W.S. with the flagstaff bearing 090°.

Chart affected : 1091A.
