Notice making and levying Rates under the Rangitaiki Land Drainage Act, 1910.

I, ETHELBERT ALFRED RANSOM, Minister of Lands, in exercise of the powers conferred upon me by the Rangitaiki Land Drainage Act, 1910, do hereby make and levy a special rate for the year ending on 31st March, 1931, to meet interest and sinking fund on capital upon the unimproved value of all lands liable to be rated in pursuance of that Act, on a graduated scale, as specified in the Schedule hereto, according to the classification of the land.

The said rates will be payable in one sum on the 18th day of July, 1930, to the Collector of Rates for the Rangitaiki Land Drainage District at the Chief Engineer's Office, 5 Law Court Buildings, High Street, Auckland, at which office the rate-book will be open for inspection.

A copy of the rate-book may be inspected by ratepayers at the office of the Land Drainage Engineer, at Thornton, near Whakatane, at all times at which that office is open for transaction of public business.

SCHEDULE.

CLASS A: On the unimproved value of all land classified as Class A by the arbitrators appointed under the said Act, one penny and ninety-nine one-hundredths of a penny in the pound.

Class B: On the unimproved value of all land classified as Class B by the arbitrators appointed under the said Act, one penny and thirty-one one-hundredths of a penny in the pound.

Class C: On the unimproved value of all land classified as Class C by the arbitrators appointed under the said Act, sixty-six one-hundredths of a penny in the pound.

Class D: On the unimproved value of all land classified as Class D by the arbitrators appointed under the said Act, twenty-two one-hundredths of a penny in the pound.

Notifying Land in the Auckland Land District subject to the Land for Settlements Act, 1925.

PURSUANT to the provisions of the Land for Settlements Act, 1925, I hereby notify that the undermentioned land, being the land known as Puketarata Settlement, which has been acquired under the said Act, is subject to the said Act as from 30th April, 1930.

SCHEDULE.

AUCKLAND LAND DISTRICT.-PUKETARATA SETTLEMENT.
ALL that area in the Auckland Land District, containing by admeasurement 422 acres 3 roods, more or less, being parts Ouruwhero No. 3T and Puketarata No. 6B Section 2B Blocks, situated in Block XIV, Puniu Survey District. Bounded towards the north generally by a public road and Lot 9 on plan 15235, deposited in the office of the District Land Registrar at Auckland; towards the east by Ouruwhero 3s 1 and 3s 2E Blocks; towards the north-east by Ouruwhero 3s 1 and 3s 2E, and 3s 1 and 3s 2B Blocks; towards the south-east and south-west by a public road; again towards the south-east by Lots 1 and 2 on plan 9078, deposited as aforesaid; towards the west by Section 2, Block XIV, Puniu Survey District, and a public road: save and excepting an intersecting public road. As the same is more particularly delineated on the plan marked L. and S. 21/149/1042, deposited under No. 2384 in the Head Office, Department of Lands and Survey, at Wellington, and thereon edged red.

Notice under the Shops and Offices Act, 1921–22, and its Amendment, fixing the Closing-hours of Chemists' Shops within the Combined District of Auckland.

WHEREAS a requisition in writing, signed by a majority of the occupiers of all the chemists’ shops within the Combined District of Auckland, comprising the City of Auckland, the Boroughs of Birkenhead, Devonport, Mount Albert, Mount Eden, New Lynn, Newmarket, Northcote, Onehunga, One Tree Hill, Otahuhu, and Takapuna, and the Town Districts of Ellerslie, Glen Eden, Henderson, and Papatoetoe, has been forwarded to me, desiring that all such shops within the said combined district, save and except the shop (hereinafter referred to as “the exempted shop”) established at 155 Newton Road, within the City of Auckland, for the purpose only of the sale of medicines and surgical appliances that are urgently required, be closed as set out below, and that subsection (4) of section 35 of the Shops and Offices Act, 1921–22, should not apply to any shop within two miles and a half of the exempted shop while medicines and surgical appliances are obtainable from the exempted shop—On Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays at 6 p.m., on Fridays at 9.30 p.m., and on Sundays from the hour of 7 a.m., with the following exceptions: (1) In the event of a day other than Saturday being observed as the statutory closing-day in any week the closing-hour on Friday in that week shall be 6 p.m., and on Saturday 9.30 p.m.; (2) on the evening of the working-day immediately preceding Good Friday the closing-hour
