As the same are more particularly shown on the plan marked L. and S. 21/149/328, deposited under No. 2377 in the Head Office of the Department of Lands and Survey, at Wellington, and thereon bordered red.

Water taken from Poorman’s Valley Creek for the Purpose of the Stoke Mental Hospital.


WHEREAS by subsection (1) of section 14 of the Public Works Act, 1928, it is enacted that the Minister of Public Works may from time to time impound, divert, and take away any water from any stream or running water, or may purchase or acquire any right or interest therein, for the purpose, inter alia, of supplying water for the use of any public work:

And whereas it is desirable to impound, divert, and take away from Poorman’s Valley Creek (hereinafter referred to as “the said creek”) one-fifth of a cubic foot of water per second for the use of the Stoke Mental Hospital at a point in Section 93, Square 1, Block VIII, Waimea Survey District, approximately twelve chains from the north-western corner of the said Section 93, which point is more particularly delineated on the plan marked P.W.D. 78441, deposited in the office of the Minister of Public Works at Wellington:

Now, therefore, I, Ethelbert Alfred Ransom, Minister of Public Works for the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred on me by subsection (1) of section 14 of the Public Works Act, 1928, and of every other power and authority enabling me in this behalf, do hereby notify and declare that one-fifth of a cubic foot of water per second is hereby taken from the said creek at or near the point of intake hereinbefore referred to, for the purpose of supplying water to the Stoke Mental Hospital as aforesaid.

Notice of Intention to take Land in Blocks III and IV, Forest Hill Hundred, and Blocks VI and VII, Lindhurst Hundred, for the Purposes of a State Forest.


NOTICE is hereby given that it is proposed, under the provisions of the Public Works Act, 1928, to take the land described in the Schedule hereto for the purposes of a State forest; and notice is hereby further given that the plan of the land so required to be taken is deposited in the post-office at Hedgehope, and is there open for inspection; and that all persons affected by the taking of the said land should, if they have any well-grounded objections to the taking of such land, set forth the same in writing, and send such writing, within forty days from the first publication of this notice, to the Minister of Public Works, at Wellington.

Motor-vehicles Act, 1924.—Disallowance of Otaki Borough Speed By-law, 1928.


IN terms of the Transport Department Act, 1929, and section 25 of the Motor-vehicles Act, 1924, and of any other power or authority in anywise enabling me in that behalf, I, William Andrew Veitch, Minister of Transport, do hereby disallow Otaki Speed By-law, 1928.

Appointment of Customs Wharves and Examining-place at New Plymouth.

I, JAMES BELL DONALD, Minister of Customs, in exercise of the powers in me vested for this purpose by the Customs Act, 1913, do hereby revoke the appointment of all wharves and examining-places at the Port of New Plymouth, and do by this Warrant appoint the places enumerated in the First Schedule hereto to be wharves for the lading and unlading of goods within the Port of New Plymouth, and do likewise appoint at the said Port of New Plymouth the place enumerated in the Second Schedule hereto to be a place for the examination by the Customs of goods subject to the control of the Customs.
