Appointments, Promotions, Resignations, and Transfers of Officers of the N.Z. Military Forces.

HIS Excellency the Governor-General has been pleased to approve of the appointments, promotions, resignations, and transfers of the undermentioned officers of the N.Z. Military Forces.

STAFF.

Major H. J. Redmond, M.B.E., N.Z. Staff Corps, is posted to the Retired List, with permission to retain his rank and wear the prescribed uniform. Dated 23rd February, 1930.

Captain G. Dittmer, M.C., N.Z. Staff Corps, relinquishes the appointment of Staff Officer-in-Charge No. 2 Regimental District, Paeroa, and is appointed Adjutant, 1st Battalion, North Auckland Regiment. Dated 3rd April, 1930.

Captain F. L. Hunt, N.Z. Staff Corps, who has been attached for duty in the Northern Command since 29th January, 1930, is transferred to Central Command, and appointed Weapon Training Instructor. Dated 22nd April, 1930.

Captain E. L. G. Bown, N.Z. Staff Corps, having been granted sick leave, relinquished the appointment of Area Officer, Area 10A, Christchurch. Dated 24th January, 1930.

Captain J. I. Brooke, N.Z. Staff Corps, is appointed Area Officer, Area 10A, Christchurch, in addition to his other duties. Dated 25th January, 1930.

Lieutenant G. H. Heal, N.Z. Staff Corps, relinquishes the appointment of Assistant Area Officer, Area 1A, Auckland, dated 5th May, 1930, and is seconded for service with the Department of External Affairs for duty at Samoa. Dated 6th May, 1930.

THE AUCKLAND REGIMENT (COUNTESS OF RANFURLY’S OWN).

Captain N. J. Hutton, 6th C Battalion, is transferred to the Wellington Regiment. Dated 28th April, 1930.

Lieutenant W. R. Ross, 1st Battalion, is transferred to the Wellington Regiment. Dated 28th April, 1930.

Lieutenant T. L. Danks, from the Canterbury Regiment, to be Lieutenant, with seniority as from the 9th June, 1928, and is posted to the 1st Battalion. Dated 29th April, 1930.

Lieutenant R. N. Howland, from the Canterbury Regiment, to be Lieutenant, with seniority as from the 21st December, 1929, and is posted to the 6th C Battalion. Dated 22nd April, 1930.

THE WELLINGTON REGIMENT.

Captain N. J. Hutton, from the Auckland Regiment (Countess of Ranfurly’s Own), to be Captain, with seniority as from the 7th June, 1926, and is posted to the 2nd C Battalion. Dated 28th April, 1930.

Lieutenant R. J. Mayne, 5th C Battalion, is transferred to the Canterbury Regiment. Dated 28th April, 1930.

Lieutenant W. R. Ross, from the Auckland Regiment (Countess of Ranfurly’s Own), to be Lieutenant, with seniority as from the 23rd December, 1926, and is posted to the 1st Battalion. Dated 28th April, 1930.

Lieutenant G. H. Panckhurst, from the Otago Regiment, to be Lieutenant, with seniority as from the 11th June, 1928, and is posted to the 1st Battalion. Dated 28th April, 1930.

THE WELLINGTON WEST COAST REGIMENT.

2nd Lieutenant H. A. Savage, 1st Battalion, is transferred to the Reserve of Officers, Class I (b), R.D. 6. Dated 28th April, 1930.

THE HAWKE’S BAY REGIMENT.

Lieutenant H. M. Caselberg, 1st Battalion, to be Captain. Dated 5th April, 1930.

THE CANTERBURY REGIMENT.

Lieutenant T. L. Danks, 4th C Battalion, is transferred to the Auckland Regiment (Countess of Ranfurly’s Own). Dated 29th April, 1930.

Lieutenant R. N. Howland, 4th C Battalion, is transferred to the Auckland Regiment (Countess of Ranfurly’s Own). Dated 22nd April, 1930.

Lieutenant R. J. Mayne, from the Wellington Regiment, to be Lieutenant, with seniority as from the 21st August, 1926, and is posted to the 3rd C Battalion. Dated 28th April, 1930.

THE NELSON, MARLBOROUGH, AND WEST COAST REGIMENT.

2nd Lieutenant W. K. Webb, 3rd C Battalion, resigns his commission. Dated 24th April, 1930.

THE OTAGO REGIMENT.

Lieutenant G. H. Panckhurst, 1st Battalion, is transferred to the Wellington Regiment. Dated 28th April, 1930.

N.Z. MEDICAL CORPS.

Major W. S. Wallis, M.B., from the Reserve of Officers, to be Major, and is attached for duty to the 21st Field Battery, N.Z.A. Dated 3rd April, 1930.

Edwin Patrick Spencer, M.B., to be Lieutenant, and is attached for duty to the Northern Depot, N.Z.M.C. Dated 17th April, 1930.

N.Z. CHAPLAINS DEPARTMENT.

The Reverend C. H. Olds, B.A., Chaplain, 3rd Class, is transferred from R.D. 5. to R.D. 12. Dated 16th April, 1930.

The Reverend G. W. Dent, Chaplain, 3rd Class, Reserve List, Class II, is transferred from R.D. 7 to R.D. 10. Dated 16th April, 1930.

RESERVE OF OFFICERS.

The Nelson, Marlborough, and West Coast Regiment.

Captain W. J. Gallen is posted to the Retired List, with permission to retain his rank and wear the prescribed uniform. Dated 26th April, 1930.

Award of the Colonial Auxiliary Forces Long-service Medal.

HIS Excellency the Governor-General has been pleased to approve of the award of the Colonial Auxiliary Forces Long-service Medal to Lieutenant-Colonel C. E. Hercus, D.S.O., O.B.E., M.D., B.D.Sc., N.Z. Medical Corps.

Empire Day to be observed as a Holiday on King’s Birthday.

EMPIRE DAY will be celebrated on Tuesday, the 3rd June, 1930, in conjunction with the anniversary of the birthday of His Majesty the King, and that day will be observed as a public holiday in the Government offices throughout the Dominion.

Date of Election by Fire Insurance Companies to fill Extraordinary Vacancy on the Auckland Fire Board.

Department of Internal Affairs,
Wellington, 6th May, 1930.

PURSUANT to the Fire Brigades Act, 1926, and the rules made thereunder, I, Philip Aldborough de la Perrelle, being the Minister charged with the administration of the said Act, do hereby appoint Monday, the 19th May, 1930, to be the date for holding the election of one member of the Auckland Fire Board by the fire-insurance companies concerned, such election being held to fill the extraordinary vacancy caused by the resignation of Mr. Walter Pavitt.
