The total live births registered for the urban areas amounted to 1,030 as against 987 in February, an increase of 43. The deaths in March were 467, an increase of 10 as compared with the previous month. Of the total deaths males contributed 247, females 220. Forty of the deaths were of children under five years of age, being 8·57 per cent. of the whole number. Twenty-six of these were under one year of age.

The equivalent annual rates per 1,000 of mean population for March, 1930, and three months ended March, 1930, were as follows. The infant-mortality and still-birth rates per 100 births for the same period are also given.
