Order in Council prescribing the Rates of Interest that may be paid by certain Local Authorities in respect of specified Loans or Portions thereof.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government House at Wellington, this 19th day of February, 1930.

Present:

HIS EXCELLENCY THE ADMINISTRATOR OF THE GOVERNMENT IN COUNCIL.

WHEREAS each of the local authorities mentioned in the Second Column of the Schedule hereto has been authorized to borrow, in respect of the loans referred to in the Third Column of the said Schedule, the respective sums stated in the Fourth Column of the said Schedule, and the respective amounts shown in the Fifth Column of the said Schedule have not been borrowed:

And whereas the Minister of Finance has in each case given his precedent consent, as required by section one hundred and fourteen of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926 (hereinafter called “the said section”), and it is desired that the rates of interest at which the money may be borrowed be rates which shall not produce to the lenders rates exceeding the respective rates specified in the Sixth Column of the said Schedule:

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Administrator of the Government of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, and in pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred on him by the said section and by section eleven of the Local Government Loans Board Act, 1926, and of all other powers and authorities enabling him in this behalf, doth hereby prescribe that each of the amounts set out in the Fifth Column of the said Schedule may be raised by the respective local authority whose name is set out in the Second Column of the said Schedule, at a rate of interest being such as shall not produce to the lender a rate exceeding the respective rates specified in the Sixth Column of the said Schedule, and the respective local authorities are hereby authorized to borrow the respective sums accordingly.

Amended Regulations under the Mining Act, 1926.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred upon him by the Mining Act, 1926, and its amendments, His Excellency the Administrator of the Government of the Dominion of New Zealand doth hereby make the following amendments to the regulations made under the Mining Act, 1926, on the ninth day of November, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-six, and gazetted on the eleventh day of November, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-six (hereinafter referred to as “the said regulations”), and doth hereby declare that the amendments to the said regulations hereby made shall be read as part of the principal regulations, and shall come into force on the date of the gazetting thereof.

AMENDMENTS TO REGULATIONS.

REGULATION 115 is hereby amended by revoking paragraphs 5 (c) and 5 (e) thereof and substituting therefor the following:—

  1. (5) (c) For sinking in solid rock where blasting is necessary, the shaft being not less than 4 ft. by 3 ft., 11s. 6d. per foot.

Where it is shown to the satisfaction of the Inspector of Mines that the cost exceeds £2 6s. per foot then 15s. 6d. per foot may be paid.

  1. (5) (e) For tunnelling or driving through hard rock where blasting is necessary, the tunnel or drive being not less than 5 ft. by 3 ft.: For the whole distance 8s. per foot.

Where it is shown to the satisfaction of the Inspector of Mines that the cost exceeds £1 11s. per foot then 10s. 6d. per foot may be paid.

Re-constituting and re-establishing the Samoa Military Police as a unit of the New Zealand Permanent Forces.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred on me by the Defence Act, 1909, and its amendments, I, Michael Myers, Administrator of the Government of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby make the following regulations under that Act; and I do hereby declare that such regulations shall come into force as from the eleventh day of February, one thousand nine hundred and thirty.

SCHEDULE.

  1. The Samoa Military Police, which was disbanded on the 7th September, 1929, is hereby re-constituted and re-established as a unit of the New Zealand Permanent Forces.

  2. Enlistment in the Samoa Military Police will be for a period of twelve months, if so long required.

  3. Free rations, quarters, and clothing for all members of the unit will be provided, and the rates of pay will be as follows:—
