And whereas a certain Bill intituled “An Act to amend the Shipping and Seamen Act, 1908,” the Short Title of which is “The Shipping and Seamen Amendment Act, 1929” (hereinafter called “the said Bill”), was passed by the Legislative Council and the House of Representatives, and was presented for His Majesty’s assent to the Governor-General, and was reserved for the signification of His Majesty’s pleasure thereon:
And whereas by the said Bill it is provided that the same shall come into operation on the day on which His Majesty’s assent thereto is notified by the Governor-General by Proclamation published in the Gazette, or on such later date (being not later than three months after the date of publication of the Proclamation as aforesaid) as is specified in that behalf in the Proclamation:
Now, therefore, I, General Sir Charles Fergusson, Baronet, Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance of the provisions of the Constitution Act do by this Proclamation signify and proclaim to all whom it may concern that the said Bill has been laid before His Majesty in Council, and that His Majesty has been pleased to assent to the same, and in pursuance of the provisions of the said Bill I do further declare and proclaim that the same shall come into operation on the fifteenth day of February, one thousand nine hundred and thirty.
Given under the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, and issued under the Seal of that Dominion, this 6th day of February, 1930.

Amending Regulations under the Weights and Measures Act, 1925.

At the Government House at Wellington, this 3rd day of February, 1930.

His Excellency the Governor-General in Council.
HIS Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, and in pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred on him by the Weights and Measures Act, 1925, doth hereby make the following regulations for the purposes of the said Act.
REGULATIONS.
PRELIMINARY.
- (1) THESE regulations may be cited as the Weights and Measures Regulations, 1926, Amendment No. 2.
(2) These regulations shall be read together with and be deemed to form part of the Weights and Measures Regulations, 1926 (hereinafter called the principal regulations).
(3) These regulations shall come into force on the date of publication hereof in the New Zealand Gazette.
PERSONAL WEIGHING-MACHINES.
- The principal regulations are hereby amended by inserting therein, following Regulation 86 in Part II thereof, the following additional regulation:—
86A. (1) The term “personal weighing-machine” means any weighing instrument of a type specially designed for weighing persons, and for the use of which a charge is made.
(2) Every new personal weighing-machine shall—
(a) Comply with the requirements of these regulations relating to platform weighing-machines where applicable to its type;
(b) Have the same minimum graduation throughout its range and the weight corresponding to the minimum graduation not more than 1 lb.
(3) Every person who uses, or has in his possession for use, or makes available for use by the public any personal weighing-machine which is not stamped as required by these regulations, or which is incorrect or not in accordance with these regulations, commits an offence.
(4) The errors permissible on verification shall not exceed the weight corresponding to one-half of the interval between consecutive graduations. On inspection, double the above errors shall be permitted.

Directing Sale of Railway Land, at Nightcaps, under the Public Works Act, 1928.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House at Wellington, this 13th day of January, 1930.

His Excellency the Governor-General in Council.
WHEREAS by the thirty-fifth section of the Public Works Act, 1928 (hereinafter termed “the said Act”), it is enacted that if it is found that any land held, taken, purchased, or acquired at any time under this or any other Act or Provincial Ordinance, or otherwise howsoever, for any public work is not required for such public work, the Governor-General may, by Order in Council publicly notified and gazetted, cause the same to be sold under the conditions set forth in the said Act:
Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred on him by the said Act, and acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby order and declare the sale of the land described in the Schedule hereto.
SCHEDULE.
ALL that piece of land in the Southland Land District, containing an area of 1 rood 23 perches, more or less, being portion of Railway Reserve on the Nightcaps Coalfields Branch Railway (formerly Lot 4, D.P. 2413, of Section 7), Block IV, Wairoa District, Nightcaps Town District, and being the whole of the land comprised in Certificate of Title, Vol. 122, folio 177, in the office of the District Land Registrar at Invercargill.

HIS Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of that Dominion, and in pursuance of the authority to make regulations for the peace, order, and good government of Samoa conferred upon him by the Samoa Act, 1921, and of all other powers and authorities enabling him in that behalf, doth hereby make the following regulations.
