, of , having this day paid the sum of £5, is hereby authorized to take or kill two chamois bucks or two thar bucks, and in any case, not more than two animals in all, within the Waitaki Acclimatization District as described in the endorsement hereon, from the 1st day of April, 1930, to the 21st day of May, 1930 (both days inclusive), subject to the provisions of the Animals Protection and Game Act, 1921–22, and all regulations and notifications affecting chamois and thar made thereunder and in force within the Waitaki Acclimatization District.

Open Season for Chamois and Thar Shooting, South Canterbury Acclimatization District.

IN exercise of the powers vested in me by the Animals Protection and Game Act, 1921–22, I, Philip Aldborough de la Perrelle, Minister of Internal Affairs of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby declare the period from the 1st day of April, 1930, to the 20th day of May, 1930 (both days inclusive), to be an open season in the South Canterbury Acclimatization District, as described in the First Schedule hereto, for the taking or killing of the following imported game—viz., chamois and thar—subject to the following conditions.

CONDITIONS.

  1. Licenses to take or kill chamois bucks and thar bucks may be issued by the Chief Postmaster, Timaru, on the recommendation of the Secretary of the South Canterbury Acclimatization Society, on payment of a license fee of £5, in the form prescribed in the Second Schedule hereto, and subject to the said Act and regulations thereunder and this notification. The number of such licenses shall not exceed nine: Provided that not more than one such license shall be issued to the same person:

Also provided that if the number of applications received for licenses exceeds the number of available licenses, then the persons to whom such licenses are to be issued shall be decided by ballot: Provided further that no person shall be eligible to obtain a license under this Warrant who is the holder of a license to take or kill chamois bucks and thar bucks in the Waitaki Acclimatization District issued under a Warrant of even date herewith and gazetted contemporaneously herewith.

  1. No licensee shall take or kill more than two chamois bucks or two thar bucks, nor shall the total number of animals taken under this Warrant by any one licensee exceed two in all.

  2. No doe or fawn shall be taken or killed on any pretext whatever; and no licensee shall allow any dog to accompany either himself or any attendant he may have with him.

  3. Nothing herein contained shall extend to authorizing any person to sell any chamois or thar or any portion thereof.

  4. The fees paid for licenses issued pursuant to this notification shall, after deducting the cost of and incidental to the issue of such licenses, and any other expenses in connection therewith, be paid to the Department of Tourist and Health Resorts and the South Canterbury Acclimatization Society in equal proportions.

  5. Any person committing a breach of any of these conditions is liable on conviction to a fine of £20.

K; thence by a line due west to the Hakataramea River; thence up the Hakataramea River and Dalgety Creek to Hakataramea Pass; thence by a right line passing through Trig. Station N1 to Stony Stream; thence down Stony Stream to the Waitaki River, and on the west by a line up the middle of the Waitaki and Pukaki Rivers to Pukaki Lake; thence up the middle of Pukaki Lake to the Tasman River; thence up the middle of the Tasman River to the Tasman Glacier; thence along the western boundary of the said Tasman Glacier to a point in line with a line from Mount Cook and passing through Ball Hut; thence by that line to Mount Cook and the summit of the Southern Alps, the place of commencement.
