Notice respecting Proposed Alteration of Boundaries, Lower Mangapiko Drainage District, County of Waipa.

Wellington, 21st November, 1929.

IT is hereby notified that a petition has been presented to His Excellency the Governor-General, under the Land Drainage Act, 1908, and amendments, praying that the area described in the Schedule hereto may be included in the Lower Mangapiko Drainage District.

All persons affected are hereby called upon to lodge any written objections to or petitions against the proposal which they desire to lodge, within one month from the first publication of this notice, such objections or petitions to be addressed to the Minister of Internal Affairs, Wellington.

SCHEDULE.

AREA PROPOSED TO BE INCLUDED IN LOWER MANGAPIKO DRAINAGE DISTRICT.

ALL that area in the Auckland Land District bounded by a line commencing at the south-western corner of Section 248, Puniu Parish; thence easterly generally along the southern boundaries of Sections 248 and 247, Puniu Parish, to a point in line with the north-eastern boundary of Section 268; thence to and along that boundary to a public road; thence across that road and along the eastern boundary of Section 277 to the public road forming the southern boundary of the said Section 277; thence across that road and south-westerly along its southern side to the road forming the south-western and western boundaries of Section 250; thence north-westerly and northerly along the south-western and western sides of that road to a point in line with the southern boundary of Section 248, Puniu Parish; thence by a right line to the south-western corner of that section, the point of commencement.

Open Seasons for Deer Shooting, Rotorua Acclimatization District.

IN pursuance of the powers vested in me by the Animals Protection and Game Act, 1921–22, I, Philip Aldborough de la Perelle, Minister of Internal Affairs of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby declare the period from the 26th day of March, 1930, to the 26th day of April, 1930 (both days inclusive), to be an open season in that part of the Rotorua Acclimatization District described in the First Schedule hereto for the taking or killing of the following imported game—viz., red deer stags and hinds; and the period from the 26th day of March, 1930, to the 26th day of April, 1930 (both days inclusive), to be an open season in that part of the said acclimatization district described in the Second Schedule hereto for the taking or killing of the following imported game—viz., red deer stags and hinds; and the period from the 26th day of March, 1930, to the 26th day of April, 1930 (both days inclusive), to be an open season in that part of the said acclimatization district described in the Third Schedule hereto for the taking or killing of the following imported game—viz., red deer stags and hinds and Japanese deer bucks and does; and the period from the 26th day of March, 1930, to the 26th day of April, 1930 (both days inclusive), to be an open season in that part of the said acclimatization district described in the Fourth Schedule hereto for the taking or killing of the following imported game—viz., red deer stags and hinds; and the period from the 26th day of March, 1930, to the 26th day of April, 1930 (both days inclusive), to be an open season in that part of the said acclimatization district described in the Fifth Schedule hereto for the taking or killing of the following imported game—viz., red deer stags and hinds; and the period from the 26th day of March, 1930, to the 31st day of May, 1930 (both days inclusive), to be an open season in that part of the said acclimatization district described in the Sixth Schedule hereto for the taking or killing of the following imported game—viz., red deer stags and hinds; and the period from the 1st day of March, 1930, to the 31st day of March, 1930 (both days inclusive), to be an open season in that part of the said acclimatization district described in the Seventh Schedule hereto for the taking or killing of the following imported game—viz., red deer stags and hinds; and the period from the 15th day of July, 1930, to the 15th day of August, 1930 (both days inclusive), to be an open season in that part of the said acclimatization district described in the Eighth Schedule hereto for the taking or killing of the following imported game—viz., Sambur deer stags and hinds, subject to the following conditions.

CONDITIONS.

  1. (a) Licenses to take or kill red deer stags and hinds in the area described in the First Schedule hereto may be issued by the Postmistress at Waikaremoana on payment of a license fee of £3 in the form prescribed in the Ninth Schedule hereto.

(b) Licenses to take or kill red deer stags and hinds in the area described in the Second Schedule hereto may be issued by the District Manager, Department of Tourist and Health Resorts, at Rotorua, on payment of a license fee of £1 in the form prescribed in the Tenth Schedule hereto.

(c) Licenses to take or kill red deer stags and hinds and Japanese deer bucks and does in the area described in the Third Schedule hereto may be issued by the District Manager, Department of Tourist and Health Resorts, at Rotorua, on payment of a license fee of £5 in the form prescribed in the Eleventh Schedule hereto.

(d) Licenses to take or kill red deer stags and hinds in the area described in the Fourth Schedule hereto may be issued by the Postmaster at Taneatua on payment of a license fee of £3 in the form prescribed in the Twelfth Schedule hereto: Provided that the number of such licenses which may be issued by the said Postmaster shall not exceed twelve, and that if the number of applicants exceeds the number of available licenses the persons to whom such licenses are to be issued shall be decided by ballot.

(e) Licenses to take or kill red deer stags and hinds in the area described in the Fifth Schedule hereto may be issued by the District Manager, Department of Tourist and Health Resorts, at Rotorua, on payment of a license fee of £3 in the form prescribed in the Thirteenth Schedule hereto.

(f) Licenses to take or kill red deer stags and hinds in the area described in the Sixth Schedule hereto may be issued by the District Manager, Department of Tourist and Health Resorts, at Rotorua, on payment of a license fee of £5 in the form prescribed in the Fourteenth Schedule hereto: Provided that the number of such licenses that may be issued by the said District Manager shall not exceed six, and that if the number of applicants exceeds the number of available licenses then the persons to whom such licenses are to be issued shall be decided by ballot.

(g) Licenses to take or kill red deer stags and hinds in the area described in the Seventh Schedule hereto may be issued by the Postmistress at Opoutama on payment of a license fee of £3 in the form prescribed in the Fifteenth Schedule hereto: Provided that the number of licenses that may be issued by the said Postmistress shall not exceed ten, and that if the number of applicants exceeds the number of available licenses then the persons to whom such licenses are to be issued shall be decided by ballot.

(h) Licenses to take or kill Sambur deer stags and hinds may be issued by the District Manager, Department of Tourist and Health Resorts, at Rotorua, on payment of a license fee of £2 in the form prescribed in the Sixteenth Schedule hereto: Provided that the number of such licenses which may be issued by the said District Manager shall not exceed ten, and if the number of applicants exceeds the number of available licenses then the persons to whom such licenses are to be issued shall be decided by ballot.

All of the above licenses shall be subject to the Animals Protection and Game Act, 1921–22, and the regulations thereunder, and this notification, provided that not more than one such license shall be issued to the same person.

  1. Ball cartridge only to be used, provided that no metal-patched or metal-cased bullet shall be used for killing such deer.

  2. No licensee shall allow any dog to accompany either himself or any attendant he may have with him.

  3. Nothing herein contained shall extend to authorizing any person to sell any deer or portion thereof.

  4. Regulations as to the use of marks of identification of deer-heads contained in section 6 of the regulations under the Animals Protection and Game Act, 1921–22, published in the New Zealand Gazette of the 7th February, 1924, page 437, shall be strictly adhered to by each licensee, who, in addition thereto, shall return all unused “tags” to the District Manager, Department of Tourist and Health Resorts at Rotorua, the Postmaster at Taneatua, or the Postmistress at either Waikaremoana or Opoutama as the case may require, immediately he has finished stalking for the season for which such “tags” have been issued, together with a statement of the number of deer shot.

  5. Nothing in any license to take or kill red deer stags and hinds, or Japanese deer bucks and does or Sambur deer stags and hinds shall authorize the holder thereof to take or kill red deer stags or hinds or Japanese deer bucks or does or Sambur deer stags or hinds on lands actually and exclusively used by any registered acclimatization society for acclimatization purposes, or on any sanctuary or public domain, or on any land excepted from the operation of the notification declaring an open season for the district.

  6. Any person committing a breach of any of these conditions is liable on conviction to a fine of £20.
