The Rural Intermediate Credit Act, 1927.—Appointment of District Intermediate Credit Supervisor and Chairman of District Board.

IT is hereby notified for public information that the Rural Intermediate Credit Board, acting in pursuance and exercise of the power and authority conferred upon it by section 14 of the Rural Intermediate Credit Act, 1927, and of all other powers and authorities it in that behalf enabling, has appointed

Philip Cordon Dwyer,

District Public Trustee, Gisborne, to be District Intermediate Credit Supervisor for the Poverty Bay Rural Intermediate Credit District, in succession to Kenneth Alan Henderson.

And it is further notified that the Rural Intermediate Credit Board, acting in pursuance and exercise of the power conferred on it by paragraph 10 of the regulations made under the said Act, and published in the New Zealand Gazette of the 22nd day of December, 1927, and of all other powers it in that behalf enabling, has appointed the said Philip Cordon Dwyer to be Chairman of the Poverty Bay District Rural Intermediate Credit Board in succession to the said Kenneth Alan Henderson.

Both the foregoing appointments take effect as from the 11th day of November, 1929.

Awards of Colonial Auxiliary Forces Long-service Medal.

SIR,—With reference to my predecessor’s despatch, Dominions No. 482 of the 26th September, 1928, I have the honour to transmit for the information of His Majesty’s Government in New Zealand, the accompanying copies of a circular issued by the Nobel Committee of the Norwegian Parliament regarding nominations for the Nobel Peace Prize for 1930.

I should be glad if the conditions of the prize may be made known to those bodies and persons who are qualified to nominate candidates.

NOBEL PEACE PRIZE.

ALL proposals of candidates for the Nobel Peace Prize, which is to be distributed December 10th, 1930, must, in order to be taken into consideration, be laid before the Nobel Committee of the Norwegian Parliament by a duly qualified person before the first of February of the same year.

Anyone of the following persons is held to be duly qualified : (a) Members and late members of the Nobel Committee of the Norwegian Parliament, as well as the advisers appointed at the Norwegian Nobel Institute ; (b) members of Parliament and members of Government of the different States, as well as members of the Interparliamentary Union ; (c) members of the International Arbitration Court at the Hague ; (d) members of the Council of the International Peace Bureau ; (e) members and associates of the Institute of International Law ; (f) university professors of political science and of law, of history and of philosophy ; and (g) persons who have received the Nobel Peace Prize.

The Nobel Peace Prize may also be accorded to institutions or associations.

According to the Code of Statutes, section 8, the grounds upon which any proposal is made must be stated, and handed in along with such papers and other documents as may therein be referred to.

According to section 3, every written work, to qualify for a prize, must have appeared in print.

For particulars, qualified persons are requested to apply to the office of the Nobel Committee of the Norwegian Parliament, Drammensvei 19, Oslo.


Open Season for Deer-shooting, Hawke’s Bay Acclimatization District.

IN exercise of the powers vested in me by the Animals Protection and Game Act, 1921–22, I, Philip Aldborough de la Perrelle, Minister of Internal Affairs of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby declare the period from the 15th day of March 1930, to the 20th day of May, 1930 (both days inclusive), to be an open season in the Hawke’s Bay Acclimatization District, described in the First Schedule hereto, for the taking or killing of the following imported game—viz., red-deer stags and hinds—subject to the following conditions.


CONDITIONS.

  1. LICENSES to take or kill red-deer stags and hinds may be issued by the secretary of the Hawke’s Bay Acclimatization Society, on payment of a license fee of £2, in the form prescribed in the Second Schedule hereto, and subject to the said Act and regulations thereunder and this notification: Provided that not more than one license shall be issued to the same person.

  2. No licensee shall allow any dog to accompany either himself or any attendant he may have with him. Ball cartridge only to be used; provided that no metal-patched or metal-cased bullet shall be used for killing such deer.

  3. Nothing herein contained shall extend to authorizing any person to sell any deer or portion thereof.

  4. Regulations as to the use of marks of identification of deer-heads contained in section 6 of the regulations under the Animals Protection and Game Act, 1921–22, published in the New Zealand Gazette of the 7th February, 1924, page 437, shall be strictly adhered to by each licensee, who, in addition thereto, shall return all unused “tags” to the Secretary of the Hawke’s Bay Acclimatization Society, Napier, immediately he has finished stalking for the season for which such “tags” have been issued, together with a statement of the number of deer shot.

  5. Nothing in any license to take or kill red-deer stags and hinds shall authorize the holder thereof to take or kill red-deer stags or hinds on lands actually and exclusively used by any registered acclimatization society for acclimatization purposes, or on any sanctuary or public domain, or on any land excepted from the operation of the notification declaring an open season for the district.

  6. Any person committing a breach of any of these conditions is liable, on conviction, to a fine of £20.
